Learn Your Religion, Do Not Inherit It
It started when I was so curious about my English speaking skills. It's been years for me I never use this skill around my surroundings. And I think that it's getting worse lol. One day, I found an English-spoken-video on youtube. Basically she's Indonesian too but now she lives in Japan taking her bachelor degree. She has really good accent in English. I watched some videos of her, she shared everything, specially about Islam. This is not my first time of watching a youtube channel that shared about Islam while they study/live abroad, I discovered it many times. But I didn't know why.. when she shared about it, I felt like I was really interested in how the way she explained. See one's way, wondering how could she explained this and that with her collagues there (as we know, the country she lives is not a muslim country. It could be hard for some people), had a good critical thinking, and still performed sunnahs while she's there. Little did I know, She's still young btw. Younger than me.
Long story short, I found out a platform for learning languages, practicing how to speak like a native. It's been a month for me to be there. I've ever met people with different countries and cultures. And yes, I've got many Muslim friends too around the world. MashaAllah..
Once I remembered, I joined to the group that learn Deutch. The room consisted 4 people; 3 of them were from Muslim countries which have Arabic spoken. I confused about these kind of things lmao. How could I join the room that learnt another language while they were speaking in Arabic to explain it? The first time I introduced my self, they welcomed me well. They've been wondering that my country was Muslim country too. Because of most population here are Muslims. But no, I could say it was not Muslim country, it happens to be majority Muslims. They ever asked me whether I was Muslim too or not. And I said yes proudly. But then..I was startled by his statement, "If you're Muslim, but then why you didn't undestand our conversation in Arabic?" i replied it easily, "yeah it caused my mother language is not Arabic". He asked more, "Then, when you perform Shalah, which language do you use?" "of course I perform it in Arabic" "But then, why didn't you understand us? Did you really understand about the meaning of your shalah? about your prayer?"
I was like....Oh my God, seriously? His statement brought and made me asking to my self. Did I really understand my prayer I perform for years? or Did I do it just because it's mandatory? and the wildest thought of mine was; Did I really need a prayer in my life or just to abort the obligation that must be done because I'm a Muslim?
Well..23 years have left casually, I don't learn it deeply. Why these things are not good and those are pleased, why we have to do that not this and so on. This is my self-thoughts just a day before I turned 24. I couldn't sleep that time. I was asking my self this and that, about my human being as a Muslim. I never take up the fundamental why Islam takes care of my self well. Astaghfirullah!

A year closer to You.. I really hope that I will be better Muslim version of me.
May my Lord guide me what is right. [Surah Al-Kahf, version 24]
