my absolute favorite version of wangxian is both of them thinking each other is an absolute catch and being supremely jealous of anyone who talks to them when in reality everyone finds both lwj and wwx DEEPLY intolerable and would push them into a lake given zero provocation

Wangxian is such a pervasive otp because it fits literally every trope at once. It's both slowburn because they have 20+ years worth of miscommunication foreplay and fastburn because they get married and start fucking literally the second they're alone after affirming that they're dating. It's a high school romance and a romance between 40+ year old coworkers. It's enemies to friends to enemies to lovers. They're both "I could fix him" AND "I could make him worse". Obsessed.

something sad that I think about , is Lan zhan falling out of love with Wei ying but staying with him because he knows how much Wei Ying loves him so he won't ever leave Wei Ying.

wei ying somehow finds this out (like overhearing Lan Zhan talking to his brother) and is devastated.

they break up and Wei ying matures as does Lan zhan and they find their way back to each other but Wei Ying can never ever shake the feeling that he wont ever be good enough.

I'm picturing something like an arranged marriage when they are young. WWX is thinking its grown into a love match but a few weeks before the wedding he over hears LWJ reassuring his brother that he's willing to go through with the marriage even though he doesnt like WWX anymore because it is his duty to the clan.

Wei Wuxian is so easy to love I’m surprised more people didn’t fall head over heels for him. So effortlessly charismatic, cute as heck, great ass. Not to put shade on cultivation world but there was clearly something wrong with those people if they didn’t fall in love with Wei Wuxian at first sight.
