my current controversial opinion is that i do think it’s good and important when the catholic church ends up coming down on a more correct side of things than they could have

the catholic church is an evil organization that gives a lot of men in power the ability to sexually abuse children, commit an insane amount of genocides, and keep the oppression of women ongoing. this is entirely true, and whatever the church currently does will never make up for all of the dead kids. but also as a denomination they are also a massive and diverse population throughout the whole entire world that has a large amount of sway and influence if you look at them in sheer numbers. so like yeah a “god made trans people” billboard and the pope condemning fascist leaders is a pretty big deal, and as a matter of fact is an important part of moving the general population in a more left wing direction
