Many ups and downs this week, and the less said about my ex the better. However. If you go outside, sometimes nice things happen.

On Thursday I drove to visit my I guess now ex coworker, and we had such a lovely crazy afternoon yelling hysterically about work and eating pizza and playing on her trampoline with her kiddo. It was actually really refreshing to remember I have agency (long drive by myself) and to be able to connect with the only other person who has been through the exact same process and emotional journey as me this past week.

Also, bouncing on a trampoline hits different at 8 versus at 35. Like, my organs have a different relationship with gravity now 🤣

Today I got invited to the museum by some friends and it was LOVELY. I waffled a bit about going but I'm so glad I did. Got to catch up with some gender friendos and have a long and refreshing vent about the Everything these last 2 weeks (TDF & layoff), and idk. Most people I have told are quite - confused, or sad (?) on my behalf regarding the temporary monogamy thing. Which feels validating, for reasons I'm not entirely able to articulate to myself right now. Maybe because it feels like people saw my desire for non-monogamy as reasonable, which was helpful. Like, knowing I made choices that didn't prioritize my needs this time, but also getting the feedback that my needs actually deserve to be prioritized feels like a step forward on the healing spiral? Something like that. Also, a bunch of people have rounded out the telling with reminders that they still care about me even when I make these choices, and that has been hugely meaningful.

But yes, the museum - we got to see really old (OLD AS BALLS) fossils and amazing woodblock prints, and incredible glazing techniques, and taxidermied fish (?) that looked exactly like me 🤣 and a live beehive, and real dinosaur bones.

And then another friend spontaneously invited me to a park where there was a community picnic and live music, so I spent the evening learning folk dances and grooving to a really fun trumpet/brass ensemble. It was so nice to be outdoors and seeing friends and to say yes to unexpected events; parts of today really sucked, but for this stuff I'm so grateful.

This is one of the first recordings we made, when we still thought this album was going to be a doom folk album, so we tried to make this tune as melancholy as possible. Since recording this track, I have learned that a halling is a Scandinavian folkdance that involves lots of crazy acrobatic moves to show off physical strength, and we have started making an effort to learn the dances that go with specific tunes, so that we know what we are on about! :)

Making motivational "it's never too late to transition" posts is really undercut if the age you're highlighting is still young. Claiming that your transition was late and it worked out great for you actually makes older people more afraid to transition if you're saying that shit in your 20s. How do you think a trans person in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s feels when you're 23 and calling yourself a late transitioner?

T_T I wish bathroom-related disabilities weren’t still today the subject of so much baseless ableism and hatred.. When you learn that kind of shame, it can kill you. People think “it’s too embarrassing to be seen buying an enema, or to go to the ER and need a manual disimpaction. I’ll just wait this one out” and then the bowel perforates and that can kill you in no time at all. And a LOT of it is just because of the meaningless stigma surrounding something as universal and basic as.. peeing and pooping?? That’s insane! Most everyone does it! Get over yourself and stop perpetuating shame!! Knowing someone has to wear a diaper will not kill you, but the embarrassment that person feels might just kill them!!
