What do all these foods have in common? 🤔 They all have added sugar! 😨
These foods aren’t particularly sweet, so most people don’t suspect that they will have added sugar. But they do! So does sushi rice, canned beans, canned soup, and most store-bought salad dressings.🤯🤯🤯
Although not all sugars are bad (ex. naturally occurring sugar), the sugars that are added into the ingredients are heaped with negative health effects. 🙊 These concentrated sugars are very addictive (a Princeton study showed that added sugar and drugs have a similar effect on your brain 😨), so food suppliers add sugar to keep their customers buying more.🤭
Next time you go to the supermarket, make sure to take a look in the ingredients. 🧐 If you see “sugar” or any ingredient ending in “-ose”, be warned that there will be added sugar. 😓 Try to make your own sauces as well, and when buying bread, even if its whole-wheat bread, go to local bakeries. Usually, the less processed a food is, the less added sugar it will have.
