The first time Haerin and Layla met, Layla was exiting the gym, dressed in the ugly gym uniform, hair dripping wet from the pool. She jumped out of her skin when the door opened to a figure standing directly in front of it. "Shit!"
Haerin raised an eyebrow, giving Layla a sideways glance, looking her up and down. It was silent for a moment before she asked skeptically, "you're the new prep?", smoke from her cig blowing across Layla's face. Before Layla could answer, Haerin shrugged and turned on her heel, so she called out, "cool jeans!"
Derby formally introduces them at one of his weird social gatherings, and they come to have a lot of respect for each other. Not much in common, but Haerin appreciates that Layla's not a snob and isn't afraid to mingle with her. Layla thinks it's admirable she hangs out with Derby and Bif, and is respected by pretty much every clique. She's happy that Haerin is outgoing just like herself and is also someone who pushes the clique boundaries.
Haerin is the first person in Bullworth to figure out that Layla and Lucky are dating. Although she's not as close to him as she is the other greasers, she's too intuitive to not figure it out. She doesn't bring it up to anyone (understanding, due to her own secret relationship), but after one chemistry class she pulls Layla to the side. Not unkindly she says, "don't fuck this up man, he's my family, okay?" and with a big smile, she spreads her arms and gives Layla a hug.

Hello!! <33 sorry for disappearing for 2 months, I lowkey left the fandom but I’m BACK! Sorry for how long this is, I simply got too into it and I luv a good worldbuild/storyline :3 I’m OBSESSED with Barbara and I love how similar she is to Layla.
I think Barbara was definitely a lifeline for Layla when Layla started at Bullworth, despite Barbara being two years below her. She would probably be Layla's first friend, and the reason she found the preps (i.e. helped her get accommodated + fit in). They would be super close the first couple of months; geeking out on 60s fashion and getting ready together, sitting next to each other in class, gossiping... I know Layla would respect her so much, like the way she doesn't care for the ridiculousness of the preps, and her confidence in her relationship (which Layla is lowkey inspired by....).
However, while Barbara clearly doesn’t take shit, unfortunately Layla does, so she becomes closer with and is influenced by the preps as the year goes on. I think it would start with a comment on Barbara’s relationship with Thad -- “I’m surprised you guys have lasted this long.” Again, Barbara doesn’t tolerate disrespect and is proud of her relationship, so she speaks up, telling Layla to get her shit together. By the second semester though, Layla has come to realize that the cliques in Bullworth are ruthless, and she feels the need to conform to them (unlike Barbara!). I think the two girls begin to pull away from each other, Barbara feeling betrayed, and Layla feeling pressured.
Lastly though, I don't think their story would end with bad blood. I like to think that by the time Layla graduates that year, Barbara finds her after the ceremony with hope that she can still change. It's a bit awkward at first, but they slowly rekindle their relationship, and Barbara helps Layla remember who she was before the preps!

Layla-Gwendolyn St. Clair ("just Layla") is originally from Victoria, Canada, but she began attending Bullworth Academy halfway through her junior year when she and her mom moved to Old Bullworth Vale (new job blah blah blah, dead dad etc etc).
Now in her senior year, Layla still doesn't quite fit in. Coming from an actually loving, happy, and humble high class family and community, she doesn't understand the cliques and their feuds. Ever the outgoing person, she does her best to interact with and include everyone, but she eventually comes to learn that the cliques don't budge in Bullworth, nor do they get nicer or want to be friends. So, despite it going against her morals, she eventually learns that in order to be liked at Bullworth, you have no other choice but to conform to the system.

she's part of the preps (naturally), and she's liked well enough by them, but you best believe they hate how she interacts with other cliques and are talking behind her back. eventually they convince her/pressure her to be a typical prep (🥲)
she has piebaldism! which is a rare genetic disorder that causes poliosis (a white forelock), and white patches of skin (on her knees)
she’s got a mean rbf but she’s actually so sweet and one of the most outgoing people in bullworth, because of it though (and her prep status) people are intimidated by her :(
she's actually a really fantastic swimmer (hence status w the jocks) and is one of the only people who utilize bullworth's pool. though mandy wants her on it, she has no interest in the cheer team.
she loves tom petty (she is me) and she loves playing the guitar, but its more of a secret hobby since the preps have no interest in it
her fashion taste is a decade or so earlier though, and out of aquaberry uniform she's usually seen wearing 70s pinafore/jumper dresses with button ups or turtle necks underneath. of course you can't forget her iconic mary jane shoes she wears daily
her bf is lucky de luca (THERES LORE!! TRUST IT MAKES SENSE) its a cutie secret relationship ill elaborate on in another post

Another parallel: both had compromising photos taken of them. There’s something oddly moving about boa!Aziraphale yanking the photo that doomed Miles, before it could do the same to him or Crowley.
