I'm not anti-crossover, I'm pro-acknowledging in tags or synopsis that the timelines of the source materials don't line up canonically with the story you've created.

Like I'm so in on a Stranger Things/Supernatural fanfiction but at least acknowledge that Will Byers was taken in 1983 and Mary Winchester dies in 1983. Dean is 4 canonically when all the Hawkins stuff starts.

Or Harry Potter/Stranger Things! Harry Potter is only 3 when Will goes missing!

It would have made more sense to send Quirrell to pick up Harry in his first year. He was the former Muggle Studies professor and current DADA professor. After Snape, who actually knew Harry's aunt Petunia and was a half-blood, Quirrell was most qualified.

Me: I might be American, but I would bet dollars to donuts that the UK also legally requires children to attend school. How are the Dursleys getting away with that? Wouldn't the school administrators call or visit? Are there no truancy officers????
