nothing has been more important to my being queer than when i went to my first pride parade, got seperated from my group, had a panic attack about it and was sitting on the side of the road holding a tiny genderfluid flag and freaking out. then this six foot five drag queen in four inch heels appeared from literally nowhere and sat down next to me. i, this scared-shitless trans bi kid at pride for the first time, very nervously told her she looked pretty and i told her my name and that i got lost and didn't feel like i should be at pride and she held my hand and said "oh, honey, everybody deserves to be here, especially you. pride is for everybody who's ever gotten lost, who's been scared of who they are or where they are. you think we never been scared before? pride's for you, honey, because you're scared. you don't have to be proud right now, but you're gonna be one day, honey, i'm sure of it."
i found my group soon after that and i never saw that queen again but to this day i am convinced i met an angel.
Concept: an apocalyptic or post apocalyptic tv show centred on a group of disabled protagonists
Must include:
-enough details about how they survive that no one can call it âunrealisticâ
-mental and physical disabilitiesÂ
-a character who isnât necessarily contributing to the survival of the group, but is not abandoned or looked down upon
-at least one character whose disability is actually less of a problem for them now that the world is ending/ended (example: autistic character who used to be constantly overstimulated but no longer is)
Optional features:
-abled person says âthe only disability in life is a bad attitudeâ and gets told where to stuff it
-creatively weaponized mobility aids/assistive devices
-character who abled people think isnât worth helping because of their disability, but actually has at least one skill essential to the survival of the group
-every time an abled person says something ignorant, all present disabled people look into the camera like theyâre on the officeÂ
- character who only survived the initial apocalyptic event because they had an assistive device  which just so happened in that one circumstance to give them an advantage over everyone else
-the abled camp wearing rags and eating meat on sticks cooked over a crude fire. pans over to our heroes and they have perfect clothes, a variety of food and also music.

Just think about it:
We are in the era after it caused SO MUCH, and caused so many sites to put in blocks and other restrictions to stop it from scraping everything
If they are forced to wipe their entire dataset then they won't be able to get even a fraction of it back!
Not only that, but they would be forced to get permission of the owners for everything they use. Which would IMO, actually kill most of the issues with AI and actually make the technology into something actually useful.

I've been pointedly refusing to use the term "content creators" to refer to artists anymore, because I want to make art for me and the people I care about, not the endless demands of the algorithm. I'm not trying to Produce Content, I want to make art.
So it is deeply, deeply irritating when I use the word "artist" in a post and it gets endlessly reblogged with people asking "but what about writers? but what about actors? but what about musicians? but what about [x]?"
All types of art are included in the term "artist," god damn it. "Artist" does not just mean "someone who draws pictures."
I don't know why so many people keep taking this post as "yeah, we should come up with a better word for content creators!"

I remember when we used the term âvisual artistâ to specify folks who draw/paint/etc. The narrowing of the term artist to solely visual artists has been a thorn in my paw for years now.
Then artist got replaced with fucking âcontent creatorsâ? Not even creators or creatives, but â*content* creatorsâ? We canât specify what kind of artist we are so we can all take the title of artist but we have to specifically be creators of *content*? Fucking no.Â
That doesnât even tell anyone anything about what you do anyway, so may as well take the general title of artist back!
We donât create because there is a void in the content schedule, we make art because we are so full it bursts out.
Performance art, linguistic art, musical art, visual art, itâs all ART. Your specific kind of artistic expression doesnât make it any less or more than another.
You can be specific if you want, but you are an ARTIST!

I live in South Africa. And if you live in South Africa and you have any contact with people from the US or Canada you might have run into a question about wildlife like lions and elephants roaming our streets. Most South Africans get pretty offended by questions like this. We are a civilized country, our large and dangerous wildlife gets contained in properly fenced parks.Â
I use to get offended by this until I visited a few places in Canada and realized that the reason why you ask is that some of your large and dangerous wildlife does simply roam the countryside and sometimes make excursions into town.
This honestly blew my mind. What do you mean, you have bears just walking around? What the hell?Â
north americans don't all encounter deadly megafauna on our porches and front lawns but it happens often enough that we all think this is a reasonable amount of gigantic animal to happen to your house. so when we think of africa we kinda imagine it like this:
like. if we had elephants here. this is what we would be putting up with on the regular. what do you mean you guys are more sensible than us.
TELL ME AGAIN HOW AUSTRALIA IS THE DEATH COUNTRY We have two spiders and (apparently) 12 snakes but we donât have lions, bears, wildcats, AND crocodiles. We sometimes have crocodiles and large boas in certain areas. We donât have to worry about a bear attacking our halloween decor. Or moose deciding to joust on the front lawn. Maybe similar to Africa, Americaâs fear of Australia is because you all assume our wildlife is exactly as huge and space-invadey.

I live halfway between two large cities in a pretty damn suburban area and hearing the sentence âdid you hear there was a bear* spotted on [road that is pretty built up and I donât think of as wild at all]â only left me a little surprised. My mother once saw what she described as a coyote going to school- just walking around a university campus.
so.... yes I was absolutely picturing elephants reaching over your back yard fences for some tasty leaves.

It crawls major newspapers like the New York Times multiple times per day.
For anything other than one of those scrolling updates breaking news pages, you can access it from the Archive usually within an hour or two of it being published. No paywall. You want international news? You got it. Opinion? That too. Recipes? It's all here. Page not yet archived? There's a button for that and now you got it.
There are various paywall-evading extensions and tricks out there, but they don't always work. This does.
Go forth and read the newspaper.
