listen i may take 4 weeks to write a 3k word chapter, and i may take 45 minutes to decide whether i should use âlaughâ or âchuckleâ, but at least i donât use ai and whatever youâre getting is pure chaos from a human brain
i would rather create an entire writing tool that has an inbuilt coded assistant and split screens, drafts, planners to help me work better than use ai tbh.

we have the draft at home.
the draft at home is: a google doc, a notion page, three sticky notes, the wip of the ao3 homepage, and a pinterest board that is doing its best.
what i actually wanted was one place where the outline and the draft and the character notes all exist together and I can maintain consistency in tone and voice without losing my mind.
skrib has this thing called the Plan which is like a spatial canvas that sits right next to your draft. so your outline isn't in your head but right there beside your actual writing pad. isn't that amazing ?

writing in a regular google doc or ms word means writing next to the entire internet and all your other problems. every alt-tab is a small death. every open window is an invitation to delay writing your work.
distraction-free full-screen mode locks you in to the world of your story without any of the real world hyperfixations creeping in.
i built this in skrib and i'm not dramatic when i say it changed the texture of my writing sessions. now instead of falling down the wikipedia rabbit hole in the middle of writing, i am actually writing ???

no one talks about how genuinely how hard it is to stay consistent in tone and writing style over a period of time especially if you use different documents to write. so now you are scattered on top of confused.
thank god i built skrib to have my cute little sticky notes right on my wip page when im writing so nothing ever escapes my eye without having to sift through countless google docs <333
writing long-term projects AND your tone depending on what you last read is a curse. because chapter 5 can be a poetic, heartwrenching moment for the character, and chapter 1 is him setting a place on fire with snarky narration.
When my protagonist is an emo band kid based off Rodrick Heffley in the intro and by chapter 5 turns into a noir film leading man because I wrote it after watching Casablanca and forgot to document everything in one place.
This is why writing tools that let you outline your tone and voice are so important
i really wish new age writers would make grammatical and structural mistakes and learn from them instead of using ai to write correct but soul less words.
in 2026, remember how GOOD writing feels. remember how satsfying it is to get your characters to the point you have been dying to get to, where they will experience the love, fear, relief or whatever the feeling you want to bring to life may be. let this year be the year of writing, prgress and of satisfactory endings.
this is genuinely so encouraging because we're living in an era where writing is becoming lost art and we're rebelling against and it's so important to remember how GOOD, how liberating and purposeful writing feels

Wanting the validation of the community you're writing for is perfectly valid
yes we write for yourselves and yes we're also consciously making the decision to share our work with the world.
and these two things are not contradictions. i need you to understand that.
yes i write for myself. yes the story matters to me regardless of numbers but when when someone takes time out of their actual life to type out "i have been thinking about chapter 4 for three days" i genuinely feel ecstatic and appreciated.
i feel like people can be apprehensive when someone feels bad about no comments or low engagement rate but that's a perfectly normal feeling to have. To want people in your fandom read your lines, see your vision is a sort of sharing joy that's so fulfilling. Comments aren't just validation. they're proof that the thing you felt while writing it, someone else felt it while reading it.
so leave comments on fics. it costs nothing and it genuinely makes a writer's day. and if you got one recently that made your whole week? same. same same same.

the "real" draft is in google docs, the outline is in notion, the character notes are in a notes app. there's a scene you wrote in the tumblr post editor at midnight because you had no other option. the vibes are in a pinterest board.
someone described this to me once as "your story living in a diaspora" and i have not recovered yet.
and none of these places talk to each other. so every time you sit down to write you first have to spend 20 minutes doing an archaeological excavation of your own brain just to remember where the hell you wrote that climax scene.
i don't think that's too much to ask for ONE place to store everything right? think that's just called having a home for your story đ¤ˇ
