My brother has told me so much about you. I feel as if we are friends already. Pride & Prejudice (2005) dir. Joe Wright

Also:
*make literal websites that are nothing but a page with numbers counting down the years, months, weeks, days, hours, seconds, until an actress/model/singer turns 18…*
*…then instantly start making vile, graphic comments detailing all the sexual things they want to do to her, as if they weren’t saying those things already*
*vehemently defend men like Drake for grooming and preying on underage girls*
*treat dating older women as a fetish/weird kink/taboo, but find it completely normal when grown ass men date girls over ten years younger than them*
*call underage girls “jailbait” to deflect all blame off men onto the girls*
*desperately defend themselves by insisting men have evolved to be biologically attracted to young, hairless women because youth=fertility, despite the fact that only prepubescent girls are hairless, meaning hairless=not yet capable of becoming pregnant. Not to mention the fact that one of the leading causes of death (maybe THE leading cause of death, though I can’t remember the specifics) of girls age 15-19 is childbirth, meaning young girls are clearly NOT meant to have children*
*refuse to tell their friends that they’re being predatory to underage girls yet scream at any woman who’ll listen that “nOt AlL mEn ArE lIkE tHaT!!!¡!¡¡!!¡!”*
“Why don’t you just give in? No one will care.”
“I will.”
It's a record. So when those of the next generations claim "people didn't know any better. It's just how it was. It was normal" our descendants can point to what we leave as proof that accepting the status quo is never a given.

also yue and korra are probs related since they both came from northern water tribe royalty 👀🤯
the avatar seemingly was destined to fall in love with the southern water tribe leader’s family. yue —> sokka, aang —> katara.
think of it. every previous avatar we’ve seen in a relationship wound up with someone in the same elemental group. aang was a unique case since his entire culture was wiped out and he wanted to repopulate it a century out of his proper time. so his soulmate moved an element forward in the ordering (air, water, earth, fire). on a deeper level, in moving a century forward via the iceberg, aang still had the family the avatar in this generation was supposed to have; with the water tribe. “Sokka and I, we’re your family now.”
this ripple effect even makes sense of korra. the first two elements aang masters are the easiest for him, as air and water are complimentary. but korra, a water tribe native, is awful with airbending. she’s great at earthbending, she’s great as a firebender, and she’s good at waterbending because that’s what she was born into. but she’s awful at air. she’s bad with air like aang was bad with earth. because air and earth are opposites. and korra is an earthbender avatar in a water tribewoman’s body. everything makes sense now with this context
going absolutely crazy on this: if aang hadn’t trapped himself in the iceberg and learned all four elements in a year (like we know he can) but when he was meant to be trained, then he defeated firelord sozin, meaning the technology resulting from the conflict was able to progress beyond weapons of war, it’s possible that the technological advancement of korra’s time would’ve been around in yue’s time. meaning that the equalist movement would’ve naturally been on the rise. so, of course, the universe would want the avatar to see the complexity in this situation. which would explain why yue’s southern water tribe soulmate is a nonbender interested in technology. with sokka.... just like korra’s is. in asami
the inevitable conclusion
So 2016 is SO bad that it made the creator of this meme give us an alternative version of “This is Fine”.
2016? PSSHHHHH
God remember when we thought 2016 was the worst year….
2020 is a direct result of what happened in 2016. A lot of us saw something like this coming as we saw that year unfold. Yes, 2016 was a terrible year. It was, in fact, the worst. Because actions taken that year led us to where we are now. This year wasn’t inevitable. Neither was 2016. Almost all of the problems we’re facing right now are man made. Stop looking back fondly on the frying pan and focus on getting out of the fire.
