You know what's great about being a minor playing DnD with a bunch of adult relatives? They all have characters in like- their late 20's at the earliest, and more like their 30's, meanwhile my character is a whole 19 years old (still older than I am) and has been through ALL the trauma.
So we have the super stoic character having killed his brother by accident and having a mental breakdown about it and my character is trying to keep it together because she's the cleric and was the head medic before she came here, and the dragonborn barbarian calls her over and is like "hey, you are a BABY, stop trying to be so damn brave about this. You are allowed to be fucked up by this."
And my character, being the GENIUS she is, is like "I haven't been a child since I was like 12, thank you though. I went from 30 siblings to 3 siblings in a single battle. It sucks, but I will be fine." And the dragonborn is like "no, no, that's not happening. You are a child, you can be a child, stop trying to be so damn brave, that's my job."
And we get to laugh about it because my character is essentially trying to hydrologic press her emotions into nothingness, and it's NOT WORKING, and the dragonborn shows up and suddenly she is telling him about all of her dead family and how this is NOT her thing to be panicking about.
Keep in mind, these two's first interaction was the dragonborn coming over mid-rage after we killed the werewolf he was after shouting "WHO STOLE MY KILL!!" and my character, without hesitation, looking this guy, that is like 1.5x her height and very clearly strong enough to MURDER HER, in the eyes and saying "The fuck did you expect us to do? Just stand by while it ate us? Yeah, great plan." And now she has declared him the safe one.
