Queer and/or women-centric actual play DND podcasts
So youāve listened to The Adventure Zone and want more Dungeons and Dragons podcasts with queer characters or ladies (and preferably queer ladies) but you donāt know where to start? Well, Iāve spent the past six months listening to A Bunch of them, so itās time to recommend you my favourites! All of these have episode lengths of between 1h and 1h30, so no three hours commitment needed.
Dames and Dragons: All-women cast. Lots and lots of potty humour that fails to distract us from the fact that the hard plot is truly excellent (high fantasy with pop culture influences - notably Miyazaki movies.) An amazingly loveable cast of teenagers, including a tiefling paladin obsessed with wolves, a crow-boy druid with a boob-window, a bitchy-with-a-heart-of-gold water genasi wizard, and the gorgeous dorky goddess (though itās complicated) they protect (sheās a DM-insert character). Hilarious and touching player dynamics and party dynamics (the latter including real character conflict), and the one podcast with an f/f ship that you will passionately ship and isnāt canon but I trust the girls to make it Queer As Heck. On tumblr as @damesanddragons.
Venture Maidens: On the same network as Dames and Dragons; three women (including one South-Asian woman and one Latina, if Iām not mistaken?) and one non-binary player. More serious but with funny moments; very plot-heavy, and the plot is rly good (the DM is excellent and v experienced.) Hella cool music, too. Cast is an awkward half-elf warlock who drags me in every single episode bc sheās the master of overthinking and taking herself a bit too seriously; a badass quiet-but-not-stoic human monk (whoās a WoC) whose Angsty Backstory drives the plot of the first arc; and a lesbian dwarf barbarian who owns my entire heart and is responsible for most of the comedy, exhilarating fight scenes, and gay on this podcast. On tumblr as @venturemaidens.Ā
Dungeons, Dice and Everything Nice: All-women again. Starts as a small town cult mystery/Chosen Ones narrative, has since veered into tournament territory. This means I feel like the main plot has fallen by the wayside a bit, but I like the tournament plot a lot too, so itās still rly good. Cast is a half-orc ranger who owns a meatshop but wants to become a vegetarian and her employees: an earth genasi barbarian-slash-burlesque dancer, a super gay human wizard whoās a nerd disaster in a very #relatable way and also super loyal and sensitive (can you tell sheās my fave). The first arc also has a gnome warlock who has prophetic visions and forms a hilarious dynamic duo with the genasi barbarian, but she leaves at the beginning of the second arc and gets replaced by a DM-insert like in Dames and Dragons (sheās Suspicious and maybe a spy??? But in a Complex way. Also amazingly deadpan but she secretly cares. Sheās my other fave.) On tumblr as @dungeons-dice.Ā
Roll Like A Girl: All ladies. More of a travelling narrative, which I really like since it makes for a lot of variety in the plot points - and the DM is very creative with those. Features a pink-haired gnome paladin, a high-elf cleric, a halfling rogue, and a human sorceress. More dungeon-crawl-y than most of the other podcasts, in certain episodes, but that makes for original battles and puzzles. The whole party stumbles along through their adventures, not rly knowing what theyāre doing but making the best of it, which I always find more fun than hyper-competent characters. Most of the plot involves them helping different people out and solving mysteries, but there are hints of an overarching plot that make me rly curious. On tumblr as @rolllikeagirl.
Dungeons and Lesbians: The shortest of all these podcasts, and currently on hiatus, but theyāre coming back soon! Like the name suggests, all the players are lesbians! Too early in for a real plot or much character development to have taken place, but what there is is rly good: bit Mad Max Fury Road, bit mission-from-a-benevolent-god, bit discovering-your-origins. Characters are two men, two women:Ā a merperson druid, a half-elf fighter, a drow bard, and a tiefling rangers. Party dynamics are rly cool, which is caused in part by the fact that (if I understood correctly) part of the players are dating each other. On tumblr as @dungeonsandlesbians.
Join the Party: You may know them from a TAZ jumbotron. Three men, one woman. Really professionally edited, and with a bunch of extra content. The DM has done impressive work with the plot, world-building and NPCs (which are rly complex, and I love the way the players and listeners may feel differently about them than the actual characters.) Diversity is front and centre in this podcasts - lots of queerness, gender diversity, characters of colour. The main cast are a half-elf warlock whoās the partyās unofficial dad and the coolest yet dorkiest youth pastor youāll ever meet, a warforged barbarian multiclassing as an artificer whoās trying to figure out his backstory and doesnāt always know how to person but is fiercely loyal to his friends, and a super gay cool teenage elf rogue whoās technically an assassin but has Feelings about it and crushes on every badass woman she meets (#relatable.) Genuinely funny (actual laugh-out-loud moments), touching, and well-plotted. Both the players and the party have a rly cool dynamic, and they do rly cool stuff with rules - the universe is more steampunk than regular fantasy, and theyāre rly good at making game rules character-based in-game. They also do a bunch of interviews with other DND peeps and have an afterparty after every episode in which they discuss the previous episode. Also rly accessible to dnd newbies, with special beginnersā eps to explain the rules and such. Not on tumblr (yet?)
BomBARDed: You may also know them from a TAZ jumbotron. Again, three men, one woman. A party of bards (multiclass characters, though): one dwarf bardruid, one halfling bardrogue, and one half-orc bardbarian lady (whoās not straight. No way. You donāt play a half-orc bardbarian lady if youāre straight. Source: I play a half-orc bardbarian (and I wanna meet the player now and be her friend.)) Also, Tol Lady and Smol Men - the best dynamic ever. The players are an actual band; so they play all their bard spells, and once an episode, they roll dice to figure out the elements of a song and write a song based on it and perform it in-game. That means DND MUSICAL!!!!!! The most my jam!!!!!!!!!!! And not only that, but also a fuckton of music puns and allusions, and a lot of bard magic. The plot is rly good and built around the need for music but still feels rly natural, and the NPCs are also rly cool. Itās also rly funny and with rly cool party dynamics - the characters become friends in a rly fun and natural way. Not on tumblr (yet?)
Hit Dice!: The newest podcast on this list, and excellent from the very beginning. Very professional again. Among the five players are two gay men and two women (orientation unknown :p). I assume the DM and fifth player are straight men? Not sure, they donāt talk about it. Characters are a half-elf rogue, a human ranger who rides a buffalo, a tiefling bard, a half-elf warlock, and a wizard gnome. Each character has a rly distinct personality (related to their race and class but not stereotypical), and their interactions are rly fun. It makes you really excited to see how their dynamic will evolve. Plot is a series of quests: first was a relatively small quest in a school, now the stakes are starting to rise. Good job at making an overarching narrative with distinct episodes with different topics (mystery solving, battle, combat in an arena, exploring a city, travel, etc), and at original world-building that challenges dnd stereotypes and start to ask a few interesting societal questions (goblins in the first arc but they arenāt enemies!). Less hilarious than some other podcasts on this list but still genuinely amusing. Not on tumblr (yet?)
a himbo is etymologically a male bimbo. itās a hot, stupid man. if a man is stupid and hot heās a himbo. stop adding nonsense qualifications based on your own taste.
āa himbo has to be rippedā you wouldnāt let an astoundingly pretty, astoundingly stupid man be a himbo just because heās got a belly? or because heād blow away in a strong wind? fucka you
all the comments saying "a himbo has to respect women" like yes but that's a prerequisite to being attractive anyway

Watching Jurassic Park and I have Opinions on this place as a zoo. Feeding the predators live prey?? There's other ways to provide enrichment! Also that enclosure is way too small for multiple large animals like that! Electric fences? Ha! Electric fences won't stop a fucking goat! Where's the zoo experts? Who designed these enclosures?? Were all zoos this shitty in the 90s???
This t-rex is so happy to be tearing a car apart and pushing it over a cliff! She's got so much energy! She needs healthy outlets! Where the fuck is her enrichment team???
i don't know how to articulate it but there's something so powerful about your childhood friendships. like i've never been closer to anyone than i was to the friends i had between the ages like 8-13. something about the innocence of childhood and the experience of growing up together and dealing with changes at the same time that brings you closer. thinking about my childhood friends, even though i haven't seen most of them in years, i'd probably still do anything for them. and i don't know the people they became but i know i still love the people they were and who i was with them.

I know people would like die to defend Nintendo but there still wasnāt a technical reason to cut down the Pokedex and there aināt a technical reason why youāll only get one Animal Crossing island per Switch console. You heard about that shit right?? You canāt have multiple saves even if you buy it multiple times on cartridge or log into different Nintendo accounts. One switch, one file.
Guys this is not how Animal Crossing ever worked before and thereās no chance of it being just accident or incompetency. They had to very deliberately add extra programming so that people canāt share a switch to play their own different files, which a LOT of households have traditionally done with this series so they arenāt fighting with each other over how to landscape the town or which villagers to work towards.
thereās a few ppl in the notes arguing animal crossing was never meant to have multiple save files, and i think at least part of what theyāre overlooking is that, to my knowledge, not a single other game on the switch has this problem/āfeatureā
a single instance of nintendo online applies to one nintendo account. in games like mario kart, mario party, anything where the main difference between save files is only the amount of things youāve unlocked? youāre still given different saves between accounts
every switch release iāve played works like this, every game that doesnāt have have multiple files built in, even pokĆ©mon swsh wonāt make you buy an entire new CONSOLE to let your siblings or partner or parents or etc play
the fact that this feature was REMOVED for a game where customization is the main draw shows, at best, a disgusting lack of forethought and incompetence. and a company as big as nintendo doesnt just make decisions without thinking
Letās reiterate that Nintendo went out of their way to make a single global save for the entire console. Thatās not the normal mode of operation for Switch games. Save data is meant to be sandboxed and stored per-user/profile, not per device.
Iāve not developed for Switch but I suspect that this is one of those things that would violate their own TRCs (Technical Requirement Checklist) if it were to happen in a third-party game. Nintendo has always been bad at following their own rules, but usually not this far to the detriment of the player.
Pusheen is married?!?
PUSHEEN HAS BABIES?!?!?
I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldnāt see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like āuhā¦hi?ā And she said āI made you, do you know that?ā And I nodded and she was like āI hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please donāt break my heartā. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Meanā¢ļø????

A nurse has heart attack and describes what she felt like when having one
I am an ER nurse and this is the best description of this event that I have ever heard.Ā
Ā FEMALE HEART ATTACKSĀ
Ā I was aware that female heart attacks are different, but this is description is so incredibly visceral that I feel like I have an entire new understanding of what it feels like to be living the symptoms on the inside. Women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have⦠you know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor the we see in movies. Here is the story of one womanās experience with a heart attack:Ā
Ā "I had a heart attack at about 10:30 PM with NO prior exertion, NO prior emotional trauma that one would suspect might have brought it on. I was sitting all snugly & warm on a cold evening, with my purring cat in my lap, reading an interesting story my friend had sent me, and actually thinking, āA-A-h, this is the life, all cozy and warm in my soft, cushy Lazy Boy with my feet propped up. A moment later, I felt that awful sensation of indigestion, when youāve been in a hurry and grabbed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with a dash of water, and that hurried bite seems to feel like youāve swallowed a golf ball going down the esophagus in slow motion and it is most uncomfortable. You realize you shouldnāt have gulped it down so fast and needed to chew it more thoroughly and this time drink a glass of water to hasten its progress down to the stomach. This was my initial sensationāthe only trouble was that I hadnāt taken a bite of anything since about 5:00 p.m.Ā
After it seemed to subside, the next sensation was like little squeezing motions that seemed to be racing up my SPINE (hind-sight, it was probably my aorta spasms), gaining speed as they continued racing up and under my sternum (breast bone, where one presses rhythmically when administering CPR). This fascinating process continued on into my throat and branched out into both jaws. āAHA!! NOW I stopped puzzling about what was happening ā we all have read and/or heard about pain in the jaws being one of the signals of an MI happening, havenāt we? I said aloud to myself and the cat, Dear God, I think Iām having a heart attack! I lowered the foot rest dumping the cat from my lap, started to take a step and fell on the floor instead. I thought to myself, If this is a heart attack, I shouldnāt be walking into the next room where the phone is or anywhere else⦠but, on the other hand, if I donāt, nobody will know that I need help, and if I wait any longer I may not be able to get up in a moment.Ā
I pulled myself up with the arms of the chair, walked slowly into the next room and dialed the Paramedics⦠I told her I thought I was having a heart attack due to the pressure building under the sternum and radiating into my jaws. I didnāt feel hysterical or afraid, just stating the facts. She said she was sending the Paramedics over immediately, asked if the front door was near to me, and if so, to un-bolt the door and then lie down on the floor where they could see me when they came in. I unlocked the door and then laid down on the floor as instructed and lost consciousness, as I donāt remember the medics coming in, their examination, lifting me onto a gurney or getting me into their ambulance, or hearing the call they made to St. Jude ER on the way, but I did briefly awaken when we arrived and saw that the radiologist was already there in his surgical blues and cap, helping the medics pull my stretcher out of the ambulance. He was bending over me asking questions (probably something like āHave you taken any medications?ā) but I couldnāt make my mind interpret what he was saying, or form an answer, and nodded off again, not waking up until the Cardiologist and partner had already threaded the teeny angiogram balloon up my femoral artery into the aorta and into my heart where they installed 2 side by side stints to hold open my right coronary artery.Ā
I know it sounds like all my thinking and actions at home must have taken at least 20-30 minutes before calling the paramedics, but actually it took perhaps 4-5 minutes before the call, and both the fire station and St Jude are only minutes away from my home, and my Cardiologist was already to go to the OR in his scrubs and get going on restarting my heart (which had stopped somewhere between my arrival and the procedure) and installing the stents. Why have I written all of this to you with so much detail? Because I want all of you who are so important in my life to know what I learned first hand.Ā
1. Be aware that something very different is happening in your body, not the usual menās symptoms but inexplicable things happening (until my sternum and jaws got into the act). It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didnāt know they were having one and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation and go to bed, hoping theyāll feel better in the morning when they wake up⦠which doesnāt happen. My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that youāve not felt before. It is better to have a āfalse alarmā visitation than to risk your life guessing what it might be! 2. Note that I said āCall the Paramedics.ā And if you can take an aspirin. Ladies, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! Do NOT try to drive yourself to the ER - you are a hazard to others on the road. Do NOT have your panicked husband who will be speeding and looking anxiously at whatās happening with you instead of the road. Do NOT call your doctor ā he doesnāt know where you live and if itās at night you wonāt reach him anyway, and if itās daytime, his assistants (or answering service) will tell you to call the Paramedics. He doesnāt carry the equipment in his car that you need to be saved! The Paramedics do, principally OXYGEN that you need ASAP. Your Dr. will be notified later. 3. Donāt assume it couldnāt be a heart attack because you have a normal cholesterol count. Research has discovered that a cholesterol elevated reading is rarely the cause of an MI (unless itās unbelievably high and/or accompanied by high blood pressure). MIs are usually caused by long-term stress and inflammation in the body, which dumps all sorts of deadly hormones into your system to sludge things up in there. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Letās be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive to tell the tale.ā
Reblog, repost, Facebook, tweet, pin, email, morse code, fucking carrier pigeon this to save a life! I wish I knew who the author was. Iām definitely not the OP, actually think it might be an old chain email or even letter from back in the day. The version I saw floating around Facebook ended with āmy cardiologist says mail this to 10 friends, maybe youāll save one!ā And knew this was way too interesting not to pass on.
snopes.com says this oneās true.

Animal crossing humans series! : )
My IG where Iām most active!
N-No, I would never wake up the babiesā¦
This is the first arbitrary barrier in this series I will accept
Kanto: this path is blocked by a giant sleeping snorlax. you cannot wake up the snorlax except with the use of a very specific tool (which you obtained by fighting your way through a tower full of ghosts). and even after snorlax wakes up you have to either defeat it in battle and/or catch it before you can get through
Galar: could I wake these wooloo? physically, yes, probably wouldnāt be much of a challenge. but emotionally? imagine the toll
