"if you worry, you suffer twice"
Brother, I am inventing new types of worry and ways to suffer thrice. Perhaps even FOUR times.
My mom likes to tell me about how when I was a little kid riding public transport with her I'd always smile and giggle and chat with weird old ladies who smelled like cat pee and homeless folks and strangers dressed in bizarre outfits but any time a tidy and respectable businessman in a suit and tie waved at me I'd immediately clam up, and she takes a great deal of pride in my supposed inherentability to clock personalities but the truth is I do vaguely remember those bus rides, and it was never about the clothes or the hair or the smell, but more because everyone "strange" asked interesting questions and listened to what I had to say and seemed to think about what I said while the neat and tidy and rigid folks only ever acted like they were going through the motions, which was boring as hell and also pretty annoying
Well-to-do finance manager with tidy shoes: "Why hello, sweetheart. Can you say 'hi'? Aren't you cute. Are you on a trip with your mom?"
4 year old me: why must we do this
Fantastic old woman in the leopard print coat: "Why yes, my tooth IS real silver! Nobody ever asks me that. Do you like cats?"
4 year old me, suddenly paying attention: Finally, A Person Of Intellect
I made a single phone call for work and I cannot stop shaking and I think i might cry?
I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue
The introductory “Hate” monologue from I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, with AM voiced by the TikTok TTS
This is one of my favorite monologues in all of fiction, and I think the voice legitimately, unironically adds to the experience. With the modern connotation we now have surrounding this voice of faux cheeriness, machine generated empathy, machine generated “humanity”, to hear that voice declare utter despisal of life on earth for damning it… its poetry. It’s the only remake of I Have No Mouth we need.
The fact that "high culture" is still associated with the rich, even though the actual rich people are now just tacky, tasteless, Trumpy-Musky human trash bags.
The rich aren't into opera and ballet; they're into monster trucks and UFC and going to Dubai.
Honestly if the entire socioeconomic demographic had the smallest lick of class, it might...well, it wouldn't redeem them, but it might at least make them tolerable. But they don't. They're trash. They are relentlessly, and I mean in the full pejorative sense, American.

sometimes I reblog a post only to see the cool blog I’m trying to Get With also posted it further down and I could have reblogged it from them to keep up my months long wooing strategy of showing up in their notifications occasionally and now I gotta start all over
