if shes your girl then why have i slowly been replacing her parts until there’s nothing left of her original body? is she then still your girl?
They ship of theseus’d my girl
Can’t have shit in Detroit
this actually perfectly demonstrates the transitive property of memes: you can replace a meme piece by piece until it only structurally resembles the original, and it is, in fact, the same meme.
call that the meme of theseus thesis
tumblrites can have a little intertextuality as a treat
my naym is ship and when i’m broke the broken part from me they toke
replace the part had been the plan but in the morn hand door car man
*me shoving transitive properties into my purse* sorry, I have to go
We owe the reddit refugees an apology for making them see posts like this
no we don’t this shit is enrichment in their new enclosure
*slaps roof of Tumblr* This baby can fit so many rare vintages, you just have to go deep enough, there are some great memes in the cellar, come see
love when fictional men are so devoted to their partner it makes them dangerous and insane. very slutty behavior keep it up king
I started using Head and Shoulders ten years ago for itchy scalp and dandruff, and then for ten years I have not had itchy scalp and dandruff, so I thought “why do I still buy shampoo to combat itchy scalp and dandruff when I do not have itchy scalp and dandruff,” so I stopped buying the shampoo for itchy scalp and dandruff and can you guess I have now? Can you predict what currently afflicts me? It’s alright if you can’t because apparently I fuckin couldn’t either
Cutting something out of your life because you think you don’t need it any more only to realize that it was in fact working as intended and preventing a problem that will return should you stop doing this is a good experiment to run periodically with something small like dandruff shampoo, lest you start to think it would be a good idea to do this with like let’s say public health and the social safety net and vaccines
I had a liver transplant when I was 14 and like six months later I was chatting with my surgeon and he said “there’s gonna come a time, probably when you’re a teenager, where you’re gonna think, ‘I feel great, why am I still taking all this medication? I haven’t needed it in years.’ and you’re gonna want to stop taking all this medication. Guess what’s gonna happen then? You’re gonna go into rejection and your liver is gonna start failing, and you’re gonna be dying again, and we’re gonna have to find you another liver. So don’t do that.” And I said “why the fuck would anyone do that?” and he said “people are stupid.”
every once in a while when I get annoyed by a pharmacy or don’t wanna get out of bed to do my drugs I think “ugh, this is dumb, why do I do this?” and that conversation slams into me like a truck and I remember that I am, in fact, stupid
#you are not immune to the recency bias(via@arrows-for-pens)
Every person on earth needs to read this post. It will make people’s lives a lot better and lessen the crises everyone faces in day-to-day lives.
I reblog this every time I see it because I am not immune to the recency bias
So! This is a perfect case study in situations where you should be wary of misinformation.
Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?
The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!
This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.
Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:
Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or
Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.
The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.
The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).
Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.
So yeah, there's actually quite a lot of places that would like these. Lots of people currently breathing in terrible quality air would much rather have their boring city benches replaced with really fucking cool algae tanks that clean the air and can be used to help create + sustain future green spaces in cities. I dunno about you, but I'd take that over a dumb metal bench any day. Put these at every bus stop and I'd be delighted.
can ppl pls reblog this version
Serbian here living in Belgrade! This is all true and I've actually seen some of these around the city a few times. They're amazing at what they do and really cool to watch up close because you can see pretty swirling inside them. It's not only functional but aesthetically pretty nice as well!

Zombie setting where the undead are drawn towards unhygienic scents, so survivors constantly bathe to avoid being eaten.
Zombies are docile when adorned with flowers.
Settlements overgrown with herbs and flora.
Barely any banditry; everyone is focused on farming and gathering.
Different human factions and towns named after flowers like Lilies, Orchids, Roses, etc.
Instead of immediately killing an infected survivor, they’re given special funeral rites - the zombie is covered with flowers to keep them calm, and allowed to walk out from the settlement to join the hordes.
#this makes me curiously sad #the idea of flowers covering the undead #that symbol of human love is what makes them docile
me to zombies:
Thank you all for the responses!!!! I got a few more notes to share from folks asking me about this setting :D
It’s incredibly risky to attack zombies. The scent of the attacker’s aggressive intent coupled with spilled pungent rotten blood drives other zombies into a frenzy.
Zombies given funeral rites grow flowers within their bodies, eventually bursting from their chest and head area. These zombies are naturally gentle and their presence tames other zombies in the vicinity. Due to their helpfulness, it’s taboo to harm “blooming” undead:
Sweaty summers are the worst and everyone hopes they have enough dried flowers to last the winter.
It’s a colourful apocalypse! An overabundance of flowers in the world leads to plenty of dyes and busy little honey bees!! Scented candles are a thriving export.
Survivors who help spread flowers, look after “blooming” undead, cull the hordes, and herd zombies away from safe areas are affectionately called Florists.
Regular weapons such as guns and knives are still used but everyone prefers perfumed water guns, spray bottles, and incense.
Zombies are so overwhelmed by the pleasant scent of rain that entire hordes cease movement until it’s gone.

so i dont realy have a big idea for this other than the coment i made of
(paraphrasing myself here)
the discovery of the inevirtability of becoming a zombie being a bad thing as a subverted trope
*edit*
ive decided that i didnt like the hfy idea i had as it was just the human explaining this idea to a long lived alien with some other people ideas added (like people who use campfires instead of flowers whom i have also made to use incense from the resin of nice smelling trees since wood needs to be kiln dried for a propper good smelling campfire) and my own idea that the, becoming a beautiful bouqet ,someone made is said by a florist trying to keep all the flowers put in by the family and friends into a coherent whole due to people not thinking of the end product when thinking about the blooming zombies bouqet (dont worry they enjoy the challenge)

hearing about the theory that the Knight is a fusion of Kris and Noelle, all i can think about is what Small Mike says in this very same chapter.
You think just because something LOOKS cool... THAT makes it correct!?
heehee
One of those theories that takes a somewhat compelling concept and uses it to reach a fuckass conclusion. Like yeah wow the Knight is pretty amalgamate-coded and huh they really did *seem* to be merging or something at the end so I'm gonna see where this theory goes with—ohno.
Everyone wants to roll the dice on having THE MOST SHOCKING THEORY and becoming LEGEND if they're proven right rather than actually examining themes and shit or building on each other's work.
Which is crazy to me because as we've said in the past, there IS a compelling way to do a Kris/Noelle amalgamate, and that's Kriselle Angel, an outcome that not only fits with fandom expectations that Kris's SOUL will somehow facilitate Noelle turning into the Angel at some point, but also sets up a "bad end" Angel ro contrast the "neutral end" Angel that a normal route playthrough might get
Which doesn't require any time travel shenanigans, or weird meta implications like "the Weird Route is a canon event even if you've literally never done it" and also doesn't ignore previously established Knight evidence (Cyber World is the Most Dess Dark World we've had, the sword-bat, the heeps of Dess Knight evidence in her room, the only one who would have had Gerson as a teacher) in favor of the most basic "the Knight's actions are similar to Kris's, which means they must be THE SAME as opposed to someone Kris learned to imitate, that would be too simple and make sense" level of Kris Knight evidence that's been around since chapter 2
I think it comes from a desire to outsmart the story. Like all else aside, the whole "tricky Tony" myth comes from people just not engaging with the story as it is presented, expecting an ironic twist from a story that is straightforward and sincere.

when your art program’s closing message hits you straight in the heart and makes you stop and contemplate the state of it all
because of the huge response to this post, I decided to make a version of the art that includes the text
I’ve also uploaded this design to INPRNT, and all sales proceeds will be donated to environmental and humanitarian charities!
