Yeah this is super helpful for people but please don’t be angry when you see these mistakes. Sometimes people don’t speak English as a first language and they’re learning! Also some people have dyslexia or other such processing difficulties which can also make this hard. I know it’s frustrating but polite correction is better than getting angry. ^_~

Another tricky one:

Lay: to put or set (something) down (present tense: Lay the blanket on the floor / past tense: She laid the blanket on the floor / past participle: She had laid the blanket down earlier / present participle: She was laying the blanket on the floor)

Lie: to be in or to assume a horizontal position (present tense: You’d better lie down / past tense: I didn’t feel well, so I lay down / past participle: I had lain down for a while after I felt sick / present participle: I’ve been lying down all day)

Laurent starts writing emails to inmates in Marlas Penitentiary in his third year of university. The only reason he considers doing it at first is because of Auguste, who writes in one of his weekly emails in the middle of a long, sour summer: These emails help, you know. They keep me sane.

The sadness Laurent feels at reading that is immeasurable. He has to go for a run afterwards, because running is more productive than crying. If Laurent starts crying, he won’t do anything else for the rest of the day. Or week.

He keeps writing to Auguste every week, but as he does so, he feels like he could do more.

A few weeks later, Laurent tells Auguste about it over the phone. Laurent never lies, or keeps things from Auguste. The last time he did, he ruined Auguste’s life.

I had an idea for a dumb dog owner AU while taking a walk today which somehow gave me the creative the rush to pour out these two.

Laurent’s salukis are called Rosie and Nelly. They’re sisters and one of them used to belong to Auguste but was placed in Laurent’s care after his passing. Laurent loves them dearly and is of course president in the local sighthound group. 

Kerberos the pomeranian was originally intended as a birthday present for Jokaste. Before he was ready to be delivered though, their relationship went to shit so instead he’s sort of become Damen’s emotional support animal in the aftermath of the breakup.
