okay but what about a FEMALE podcast protagonist who whimpers throughout the whole thing and is always on the brink of death and thinks she's a monster for the things she's done and saves so many people and hurts so many people and fucks up and tries again and has so so so many scars. could you be normal about her or would the misogyny prevail
… Tessa Whitlock?
@souloperatorpod
finally, the recognition we have been looking for

Wet Cat Bracket — Round 1
Who is the wetter cat?
Jeremy Larkin
Tessa Whitlock
Propaganda
Jeremy Larkin (The Holmwood Foundation):
Jeremy is the soppiest wettest little guy. He pretends to be mad at everything but inside he is extremely soft and squishy.
Angriest little rat man in existence, forced by his job to babysit a secret facility of vampire thralls when vampires are his absolute lest favourite thing ever. Possessed by the ghost of Jonathan Harker, a man 1000x nicer and sweeter than he is. Swears as much as he breathes. Born to write terrible poetry, forced to lock in and wear terrible grey suits while carrying Dracula's severed heard across the Yorkshire Moors.
I am sending in propaganda for Jeremy Larkin. I mean, just look at him! Put in a situation totally against his will with a woman he hardly knows, two ghosts, and the severed head of Dracula?? Then, to top it all off, he constantly gets the short end of the stick. He has to trek for miles, can't get anyone in his company to care about him, is possessed by a ghost, and just wants to be respected. Get this wet cat a warm blanket and a cup of coffee.
Tessa Whitlock (Soul Operator):
Look at her.
Who is the Wettest Cat?
As a follow-up to this poll, we are now doing a full bracket asking just who is the Wettest Cat (gender neutral) in all of podcasting?
Potentially Asked Questions:
What is a wet cat? I define it as a character that is in a miserable situation and is maybe not doing everything they can to make it better. But you the voter might have a different interpretation.
Where is David Ward? Despite being the inspiration for this bracket, nobody submitted him. Even after I asked (and got Khoshekh submitted instead). At least David Ward fans won't have to watch him lose again?
Did I miss anything? Normal Oak was deemed too normal and was eliminated in the preliminaries.
How was this bracket seeded? Doug Eiffel, Caspar Scott, Jeremy Larkin, and Pluto are in the top four spots because they each got two submissions. From there I went in descending order based on how popular I thought the podcast currently was on Tumblr. The final four positions were seeded by the podcast's score on Listen Notes.
When does Round 1 start? Uhhhh…. in the future. I'll get back to you on that. I still haven't made graphics, let alone polls.
Where can I submit propaganda while waiting for the polls to start? To the askbox!
Round 1:
This has been an incredible year for our little show. We are so grateful for all the love and support that has been thrown our way. Thank you for everything, and we can't wait to share Tessa's story with you in season 2. Now, while this is only reflective of spotify, please enjoy this fun data!
This past weekend, we had our first meetup of the Seattle-area Audio Drama Creators group.
It turns out, there's a ton of us up here in the PNW! Some shows represented include:
Metropolis (by us!, i.e. @luxradium)
Two Thousand and Late (by @atypicalartists – you are listening to Two Thousand and Late, right!?)
Brittle Tourniquets (by @notreadyforopsecplayers)
Oz 9
A Paladin's Bargain
Hoot's Motionless Palace
Spirits and Monsters of Old Seattle
Dead Seattle
And some other shows that'll be joining us for the next meetup:
Soul Operator (by @totcoc0a)
Dirt, an Audio Drama
Reshapers
There's a lot of seriously incredible stuff being made in our neck of the woods! If you know of anyone else in the Seattle area who is making AD (or thinking of making AD) and looking for community, give us a shout! It's really inspiring to be around so many great creators, and that inspiration can keep you going through all the tough parts of making a show (i.e. most of it 😂).
We are so honored to be among the inaugural selection for the Intrepid Web Fest's 2026 Winter Selection.
In their own words, "Intrepid Web Fest is an experimental web festival that aims to celebrate and uplift the art form of Actual Play. We are especially interested in showcasing APs that push the art form to expand and that feature stories and performances from marginalized communities."
We are extremely grateful to be considered among so many other incredible shows! Please check out the other nominees on the website.

Self indulgent Wanderer's Journal × Soul Operator crossover, baby!
This crossover takes place in the Soul Operator universe but with Wanderer's Journal characters. Here we got Pluto, standing as protagonist in a similar role to Tessas; new member of the neighbourhood, kind of paranoid and more reclusive, cynical, really wants to find a way out
Merging the styles was intetesting, fun and a bit complicated, but i kinda like how it turned out :]
@wanderersjournalpod @souloperatorpod
Next up in the @wanderersjournalpod and @souloperatorpod crossover, Marigold!! Marigold was in the habitrails from earlier, and they didnt feel like she fit in and really wants a way out. So, before Pluto arrived to the neighbourhood, they left. Marigold has been wandering outside the neighbourhood since; at one point they found a walkie talkie that she now uses to comunicate with Pluto
I'm sorry to be a bother but it's the first of October Halloween so I wanted to ask if you, our the residential connoisseur, to speak, has a list of "10+ horror podcasts everyone should listen to" to help get into the holiday spirit
I only listen to 4 podcasts and one of them is an Android romcom so I'm definitely not a residential connoisseur, but let me take this moment to shout out some awesome horror creators in podcasting!
And ask my listeners who are bigger connoisseurs than I am to suggest some titles 😂

I'm looking for some new fiction podcasts to listen to! I'm an oldie in the podcast world so I probably already heard all the popular ones, so feel free to give me some obscure things!
My only rules are that I don't listen to sci-fi and it has to have some queer representation even if the show ain't about that or handle queer themes.
Shameless self promo, go listen to Becquer Tales ( @becquertalespod ). Its extremely obscure it has 1 episode out but theyre modern queer retelings of the stories writen by spanish author Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer. We have all trans cast of VAs so its quite queer
Now onto more recs- theres Wanderer's Journal ( @wanderersjournalpod ) which is one of my favourites, its about two people meeting through a magic journal. Very cute fantasy elements, lots of worldbuilding and lore, and it has explicit aro rep
Theres also Soul Operator ( @souloperatorpod ) where each season is inspired by gameplay of a different solo ttrpg. S1 has polyamory stuff going on
These are just 3 but i got many more if needed
Ella from @camlannpod has asked me to circulate this (and mostly relevant to people in the UK): 📣 CALL FOR ZINE SUBMISSIONS 📣
Charity zine for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Deadline October 20th.
🌊 "A Stranger is Just a Friend We Haven’t Met Yet." Messages of welcome and resistance. 🌊
Deadline October 20th.
Anyone can submit in any artform that can be digitally shared. Simple letters are also encouraged, there is no need to be a creative to be included. All proceeds will go to @refugeeaction and @rnli (unaffiliated with this project).
Convened by Selina Shaw: selinashawstories at gmail.com Islands, including the UK, are crossing places in the sea. We have a role and identity as islanders to uphold. We dishonour our heritage and our ocean by denying arrivals to our shores. Coasts are a gift that let us take in new life. That comes with the responsibility to give safety. We are a nation of harbours and lighthouses. “A Stranger is Just a Friend We Haven’t Met Yet” will gather messages of welcome for migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, sharing kindness, joy, and protest against brutality. It hopes to tell our friends that they deserve a home with us and xenophobes that they don’t speak for us. All art forms welcome, as long as they can be digitally captured. Simple greetings and letters are also encouraged if you aren't feeling creative. In support of Refugee Action and the RNLI. Out of love for our island and our friends. Big fan of media that makes you feel like this
@wanderersjournalpod @souloperatorpod
not to make this all about my own interests, but we NEED more people to discover audio dramas!! not only do they rule, but they're probably one of the few entertainment mediums left that aren't mostly controlled by massive companies vulnerable to corruption/pressure. if you're ditching certain streaming platforms and therefore your favorite tv shows, may I introduce you to hundreds of free stories that you can take everywhere with you
and, actually, while we're on the subject, a question for the average @tumblr user:
what's your relationship with audio drama?
it's a huge part of my media diet + I monetarily support it
I listen all the time!
I've listened to a handful
I know about it but I've never tried it
what? like old radio dramas? wtf are you talking about?
other/nuance/vanilla extract
HI THIS IS ALL FASCINATING I REALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE SPECIFIC IN MY LANGUAGE
good news!! all of this shit counts! to me (a person who has been making audio drama for 10 years, professionally), audio drama, narrative podcast, and fiction podcast are more or less interchangeable. so podcasts DEFINITELY count. and the "fiction" part of "fiction podcast" means, to me, that improvised/actual play also count as being on the audio drama spectrum, imo
but yes, tma and wtnv absolutely count. wtnv is, like, the audio drama.
audiobooks are a bit trickier, that's a whole other conversation, but there's a lot of "audible originals" now that are essentially fiction podcasts but on an audiobook app and when you consider that full-cast/sound designed audiobooks have existed for a while--*I am yanked off stage by a comically large crook*
great news! most indie podcasts have transcripts! including all podcasts from my studio @atypicalartists, all shows from @hughousepods, @souloperatorpod, @luxradium have transcripts, and those are just the podcasts on tumblr that I can think of in this exact moment!
that's not to say that everyone in the tags who says they can't listen because of various neurodivergence or disability aren't valid, of course that's an extremely good reason to not dive into the medium! but if lack of transcripts are what's holding you back, then I'm happy to say that's not an issue with a lot of shows!
and finally, yes, the audio dramas that are based on existing stories are awesome! I got to make an official stranger things podcast and it kicked ass. but there is also SO much stuff out there that is entirely original!!!
let me take you by the hand to theend.fyi. this is a repository of completed audio dramas that will guide you to your next favorite thing. there are hyper specific collections, it is so lovingly curated and I love this community so much.
Absolutely honored for the mention here! Yes, all of our transcripts are available on our website and we even have them for our qnas!
Thank you so much to the NZ Web Fest for selecting Soul Operator among it's selection for Audio Fiction! We are incredible honored to receive these laurels among so many other incredible shows!
You can find the other selected projects on their website:
