I am adding this disclaimer juuuuust in case, because people do get Ideas about wildlife from social media videos:

The video mentions that dormice are a protected species in the UK. This is true! This means that, although the video people are largely covered (they found it accidentally while gardening, and immediately moved it to a new hibernation spot), it is illegal to look for or handle dormice without a dormouse licence. Or, without someone supervising you who has a licence.

This is because they're so endangered now that you need to make sure, as much as possible, that you understand their ecology and safe handling before you interfere with them. You don't want to accidentally interrupt hibernation, or drive them away from a shelter/food source, or expose them to weasels, or any other accidental harm. (In this video there is a minor issue - this person is handling the mouse with bare hands, which is not the end of the world but is definitely frowned on in small mammal handling.)

However, they're definitely right - you don't often see these guys!

But if YOU want to see some in person, get in touch with your local Wildlife Trust in August-ish and ask if you can come along and volunteer on their autumn dormouse surveys. A licenced officer will take you out and you can help gather and record small mammal data, which we need for biodiversity monitoring. You will see many mice like woodmice and maybe shrews, and if you are very lucky - maybe dormice

I have a zombie gnome on little stump by my front porch.

Today, I saw some kid walking to the bus stop, turn and come up my walkway.

Gently, he knelt down beside my gnome, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a smaller gnome with a rainbow hat. He carefully placed the little guy on the stump, then turned and went to the bus.

I went out to take a look and it looks like the little guy was hand painted to match the zombies facial expression.

I think I'm going to treasure this for the rest of my life. Yeah, there's good in the world. And the kids are alright.

Coursers are not a lost cause! I’m still sad at the fact you can’t get X6-88 to leave the Institute and explore his own identity because there are glimpses of him “acting out” like during the affinity talks he speaks with more emotion because he feels safe around you (unless you tell him to stop it lmao). You can’t tell me that he wholeheartedly believes he’s just a machine made to serve and even if he does, I know that boy still wants to be respected by Father and the scientists (I like to think the people there annoy him lol). When he finally idolizes the player, I bet he could care less about the Institute and their goals, but Bethesda didn’t want to expand on it
