Grace was silent.

Not just quiet, Grace was silent. Grace was never silent. Even while he slept, Grace’s body constantly made noise. His stomach churned, his lungs inflated, his heart beat. When they first met, it had been almost overwhelming, but now the sound was comforting, a constant reminder that Grace was alive and close by. Rocky loved that sound.

Now, there was nothing but silence.
