it's really funny how the entire world basically just blew the fuck up six short years ago and nobody wants to admit that that may have had some lasting consequences lmao
like so much of Everything today is premised on the idea that the earth-shattering catastrophe which happened within living memory of everyone older than a third grader has had no meaningful material or psychological effects on the general public and i don't think that's good, lol.
"(some of) the top-line economic indicators (sorta) recovered (in most places) so everything is fine and we don't need to talk about it" is not a sustainable framework for interfacing with reality
"why is everyone so angry and paranoid now?" "why is politics so dysfunctional now?" "why is [x] [y] and [z] now? blah blah blah"

I revisited the little flock of pride gryphons! I'm so excited for bi people cause honestly that one came out so cute, anyone repping these feathery little bundles is gonna get so many compliments.
You can check out my gryphon buddies on Redbubble and Teepublic! (Repeating pattern is only on Redbubble!)
If you have a question about a flag not shown please read this before commenting! I appreciate it.
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
you should get a second evening for reading fan fiction. And you should get an extra day in the week to do arts and crafts.
they should make a substance to abuse that has no consequences
i miss fandom before ai. there was no risk of accidentally reading an ai generated fic based on stolen material. i don't want to stumple upon ai generated videos my ship kissing and see comments like "this is what ai should be used for". i don't want to see gifs of those ai generated kisses when i browse for fun reactions gifs of them. i don't want ai generated photos and definitely not ai generated art. i don't want ai to be part of my community and i definitely don't want to hear anything about anyone using it because they "can't write" or they "can't draw".
there's no valid excuse for anyone to use ai. use your imagination.
New Fic: Exposure Therapy (Epilogue)
We're finally here at the epilogue of this fic!
I’m so excited to be posting the final chapter/epilogue of Exposure Therapy, my new Ted Lasso multi-chapter fic. In case you missed it, you can find Chapter 4 here.
Here's a snippet:
“Long day, huh?” Ted whispers, wrapping an arm around his son. Henry nods and opens his eyes. Then, he swallows, glancing at Michelle. There’s a knowing look exchanged between the two of them, something that tells Ted that — that answers the question he’s spent most of the day worrying about, and now — “Henry,” Ted says, before he realizes that he’s speaking. “Did anyone at school say anything about…about how —” He swallows, looks at Michelle. This ain’t right. Maybe he should just… He doesn’t even know what he’s asking.
Read the rest of the epilogue here: Epilogue
Or read from the beginning here: Chapter 1
not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
I don't want to be a teacher but I do like the idea of having a big book of Short Stories to Fuck You Up on a high shelf, secured with a chain, which I get down and dust off and unlock and read from on special request, and then a group of young people go away from it forever shaken.
Some of the stories would be...
Give Me Your Heart by Joyce Carol Oates
The Chaser by John Collier
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury
The Teacher by Paul Tremblay
Feed by Richard Matheson
Hand in Glove by Elizabeth Bowen
From A to Z, The Chocolate Alphabet by Harlan Ellison
Monster by Kelly Link
In the Hills, The Cities by Clive Barker
The Werewolf by Angela Carter
The Dream Detective by Lisa Tuttle
Sardonicus by Ray Russell
The Gospel According to Mark by Jorge Luis Borges
The Vampire Lovers by Tanith Lee
The Picture in the House by H. P. Lovecraft
The Story-Teller by Saki
Some more stories I've been reminded of in the comments, and others I've thought of:
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. Leguin
To Build a Fire by Jack London
Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
The Swimmer by John Cheever
A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner
The Life You Save May Be Your Own by Flannery O'Connor
The Donner Party by Dale Bailey
His Face All Red by Emily Carroll
Bring the Moon to Me by Amelia Gorman
The Prayer of Ninety Cats by Caitlin R. Kiernan
Especially Heinous by Carmen Maria Machado
The Screwfly Solution by James Tiptree
Hell is the Absence of God by Ted Chiang
The Judge's House by Bram Stoker
The Room in the Tower by E. F. Benson
Harry by Rosemary Timperley
The Tears of Squonk, and What Happened Thereafter by Glen David Gold
Phosphorous by Veronica Schanoes
The Dead Line by Dennis Etchison
Need by Gary Braunbeck
I could always get a fancy blank journal, print these out and glue them in, but I would still need to find a way to lure people into asking to read one...
A sketch inspired by @vikushat cosplay
Maybe we can stop the spread of misinformation due to the use of AI by implying that the devil speaks to you via the likes of ChatGPT
