Hey! I'm new to the studyblr scene, just wanted to know whose active!
Day 17|100 of productivity, July 17th:
I've been away for almost two weeks because of the tight schedule and I just started tutoring some of my friends, so I wasn't that comfortable to take pics of this situation, but it has been so productive and it really gave me a sense of progression. I also started to use habitica, feel free to add me there, my username is lutefd
Today I focused on my mental health, so I took the day on a slow pace, slept a little bit more and gave more time to be with myself, on these past weeks I really rediscovered myself and got more motivated about achieving my dreams, seeing all that I gave up to do this really slapped me in the face, I really want to make this time be worth it so I will do everything I can do to honor it.
In the afternoon I did half of a practice exam and then watched a critical role episode and played games with my gf
It has been a really good couple of weeks to me, I'm so happy and motivated right now and i hope that u guys are too, see ya soon
It’s sad how much of what is taught in school is useless to over 99% of the population.
There are literally math concepts taught in high school and middle school that are only used in extremely specialized fields or that are even so outdated they aren’t used anymore!
I took calculus my senior year of high school, and I really liked the way our teacher framed this on the first day of class.
He asked somebody to raise their hand and ask him when we would use calculus in our everyday life. So one student rose their hand and asked, “When are we going to use this in our everyday life?”
“NEVER!!” the teacher exclaimed. “You will never use calculus in your normal, everyday life. In fact, very few of you will use it in your professional careers either.” Then he paused. “So would you like to know why should care?”
Several us nodded.
He picked out one of the varsity football players in the class. “You practice football a lot during the week, right Tim?” asked the teacher.
“Yeah,” replied Tim. “Almost every day.”
“Do you and your teammates ever lift weights during practice?”
“Yeah. Tuesdays and Thursdays we spend a lot of practice in the weight room.”
“But why?” asked the teacher. “Is there ever going to be a play your coach tells you use during a game that requires you to bench press the other team?”
“No, of course not.”
“Then why lift weights?”
“Because it makes us stronger,” said Tim.
“Bingo!!” said the teacher. “It’s the same thing with calculus. You’re not here because you’re going to use calculus in your everyday life. You’re here because calculus is weightlifting for your brain.”
And I’ve never forgotten that.
THIS.
When it’s taught right, learning math teaches you logic and how to organize your brain, how to take a problem one step at a time and make sure every step can bear weight before you move to the next one. Most adults don’t need to know integrals, but goddamn if I don’t wish everyone making arguments on the internet understood geometric proofs.
Scientific concepts broaden our understanding of how the world is put together, which does not mean that most adults ever really understand how light is refracted through a lens or why spinning copper wire creates electricity–and they don’t need to. But science classes in general are meant to teach the scientific method: how to make observations and use them to draw conclusions, how to test those conclusions, how to be wrong and grow stronger from it.
History isn’t about dates and names of battles, it’s about people, patterns, things we’ve tried before and ought to learn from. It’s about how everything is linked, how changing one circumstance can lead to changes in fifty others, cascading infinitely. Literature is about critical thinking, pattern recognition, learning to listen to what somebody is saying and decide what it means to you, how you feel about it, and what you want to do with it.
Some facts matter: every adult should know how to read a graph, how global warming works, some of the basic themes and symbols that crop up in every piece of fiction. But ultimately, content is less important later in life than context.
The good thing is, students who learn the content are likely to pick up at least some of the context, some of the patterns of thinking, even if they don’t realize it. (The unfortunate thing is how the current educational system prioritizes content so much that a lot of students, and a lot of adults, don’t see the point in learning either, and teachers are overworked and held to standardize test grading scales such that it’s hard for them to emphasize patterns of thinking over rote memorization, etc etc etc, but that is a whole different discussion.)
thank u <3
rt if you're an active studyblr, i need more studyblrs to follow!
100 days of productivity 2/100
Finished programming assignment early and actually used my bullet journal. Still taking notes for class though.
from my conversation with @blackgrad, i think we all need studyblr honesty hour sometime soon.
fyi: this is not about starting a discourse in any way, shape, and form. i love this community because it’s supportive (and was one of the reasons i had the courage to change my major). but we all have different opinion and pet peeves.
tbh half of what i’d write is gonna be ironic because i do those things lol.
i need to rethink about what ‘studyblr’ really is. (philosophical deep shit time, my dudes)
lemme go ahead and be honest while i see this because i’ll probably miss the official time:
i strongly believe muji and midiliners are only beloved on studyblr bc they’re from japan and ~aesthetic~
[i say as I write my japanese notes with my 2.5 yo midiliners]
idk if i’d really start the ‘official’ post but here i go, too:
i see captions saying stuff like ‘sorry i’m not that productive (for 100dop or just in general) from time to time. you’ve got no one to be sorry for, my dudes. productivity is good but it’s not everything. i’m saying this to myself too because at times i (and i’m sure many other people) let myself be overwhelmed by ‘productivity’. i mean, it doesn’t have to be academic, like, at all. you have the energy to get off the bed: good! that’s one productive thing! you somehow survive the day without having a breakdown: yes groot!!!
i think we studyblr all identify and make self-worth based too much on productivity. yes, studyblr is focused on academia but you know, there’s gotta be a limit. one shouldn’t breathe in ‘work’ breathe out ‘motivation’ like 24/7. TvT)
productivity is like a double-edged sword. i can’t think of a poetic sht to add but don’t let it destroy your sanity or sth just bc it’s productive. procrastination is okay. period.
Not only procrastination is okay but it's necessary, we have to let go of all the work and the stress the comes with it.
"Seize the diastole" I read in a article, our study life and the path to our dreams are like our body, sometimes it's in a intense and powerful momentum of intensity on our work just like our heart is while in Systole, that's what pumps blood into our circulation, that's what get we closer to our goals, and then there's procrastination, or in this metaphore the Diastole, the process of letting go and filling up, but without time for diastole, there's no blood to the Systole thrust forward.
Whenever you feel like you are unproductive, don't feel guilty, take the time to rest and give your best next time. Just as the hearth needs time to release and refill, so does the mind and soul.
Of course, it's not okay to procrastinate every time, but we need to take a break sometimes, and YES! After those brakes maybe we lose the rythm or just feel lost in the subjects that we got to study, but that's when we need to take those importants first steps, and build momentum so that we can give it all for our goals again.
Day 3|100 of productivity: July 3rd
Today was a messy day, the morning started great, finished up eletromagnetical induction and went for a run in the park, but by afternoon when I had to do one practice exam I started feeling sick and uneasy, so a took a break and switched schedules for the day, instead of the exam I studied math and digestive physiology, it wasn't the productive day that I imagined but I was satisfied with it
study moods
sleepy dawn
open windows
listening to lo-fi
wearing pyjamas
planning your day, creating to-do lists
the sky is pretty
spring breeze
coming back after a walk
drinking a glass of water
getting a head-start on the assignment
the great feeling of productivity, ah
cozy evening
sitting on your bed
rewarding yourself afterwards with a bath or chocolate
highlighting with your favourite markers
warm tea or cocoa next to you
night vision
it’s way too late, but you gotta finish that essay
rock music all the way
everything is a mess
you’re gonna be okay though
cinnamon afternoon
drinking coffee
doing some math exercises
listening to a chill/coffeehouse playlist
scrolling through tumblr in your little breaks
Sleepy dawn and Spring breeze r my most frequent ones
like/reblog if you’re an active studyblr!
i haven’t been on this account in a long time and my dash is extremely empty. would love to follow some active accounts in the community!!
You are so much.
Hey studyblrs! I’m bluemoonstudyblr, but you can call me Jacquie. I’ve been wanting to make one of these since I was an undergrad student but never felt like I was good enough to make one for some reason? Not sure if that makes sense. But I’ve finally decided to give it a try.
For undergrad I was a Biology major, then I was a PoliSci major, until I finally decided to do what I loved and I decided to be a Psych major. I ended up minoring in Education because I originally wanted to go into School Psychology (which I did end up doing for a little while, more on this later). My time in college was incredible, I attended Florida Gulf Coast University and it was honestly the best decision of my life. If anyone needs any advice, tips, etc. I’d be more than happy to help in any way.
I graduated on time at the end of Spring 2017, which is surprising from how many times I changed my major, lol. I quickly got accepted to the School Psychology program at FIU and started that fall. Needless to say, I survived two semesters but I quickly realized School Psych wasn’t for me. I’ll probably make a post later on describing why it didn’t work out and discussing the issues I had with that program.
I am now going to get my Master’s in Psychology with a concentration in Organizational Science also known as Industrial/Organizational Psychology and I could not be any happier with this decision. I start in a few weeks and can’t wait to start sharing everything I learn with you guys. I am also currently in an internship with a behavioral health company.
Sorry if this was a little lengthy I wasn’t sure how long an intro should be but I can’t wait to get started on here!! Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions about undergrad & grad school I’ve had some interesting experiences and would love to have some great conversations.
‘one day’ is a better mindset than ‘what if’ ✨
some morning writing whilst i watch season 5 of kitchen nightmares, + honey tea to sooth my sore throat (caught a cold ☹).

Day 2|100 of productivity: July, 2nd
I started the day reviewing the physics subjects that I had missed on my last practice exam, followed up with some cardio at the gym and a quick nap.
In the afternoon I finished some electromagnetism questions that didn't complete in the morning and went for a walk, then I studied algebra from 3pm to 7pm and I'm going to rewatch spiderman homecoming now, I'm looking forward to see far from home saturday. (Aaand yes, that's what winter looks like at Brazil)
