"afab only housing" is honestly beautiful. it's #progress to use inclusive language when discrimating against trans women
you might as well just say "no men, and yeah I think men includes you trannies (but trans men aren't men you ladies are welcome 🥰)"
^^^
being trans is awesome ill be like "hey someone was transphobic to me on reddit" and someone else will be like "then get off reddit" and im like "well theyre also transphobic to me on tumblr" and they're like "well thats because youre on tumblr" and ill say "well people are transphobic on instagram and twitter" and people are like "yeah twitter and instagram are cesspits" and its like. i think you guys are missing the point that trans people should not be forced out of any space due to violent rhetoric and threats about who we are and yet its happening all the time. and yall seem to think thats just how it is and it shouldnt be
one of the reblogged tags has inspired me. yes, this is also about places that aren't accepting to trans people, im thinking of the south specifically. i left the south and moved out west, and we love it here, but we miss the south all the time. i lived my whole life in tennessee and i miss it all the time. i think about it all the time. and people will be like "but evan tennessee is a bad place to be trans" and it is. it is a bad place to be trans. but its my HOME. i grew up there, i lived my whole life until last year there, i have so many memories there. and im happy out here and its def more my speed out here but i would love the option to go back if i ever wanted to. and loads of trans people never leave tennessee or the south in general because its their home. trans people shouldnt be constantly forced and encouraged to move hundreds and thousands of miles away from the places they grew up and love because its unsafe to be trans there, it should simply be safe to be trans there

easy to miss that one of the reasons maternal mortality is diminished so extremely by modern medicine is that modern medicine makes it so much more possible to identify the pregnancies that will die and take you with them, or are otherwise unacceptably high risk. and then discontinue those ones safely, before it's too late.
thought about this because it's so frustrating when people argue that 'dying in childbirth' is a historical sort of event that doesn't happen nowadays (false) and therefore is irrelevant to the legal status of abortion, since it's not a real danger.
except it super is, and i think a lot of people haven't noticed that this argument in addition to simply being incorrect is basically the same as when people say we don't need vaccines for deadly diseases because no one gets those now anyway.
like yeah one reason for that is we vaccinate everybody ffs.
Note: after the end of Roe v Wade in the US, the maternal mortality rate (and the infant mortality rate) are showing clear increases in the states with the strictest anti-abortion laws.
Forcing people to carry high risk or non viable pregnancies to term kills.
Also: All anti-abortion laws currently on the books in the USA contain some type of medical exception, and none of these medical exceptions have turned out to be good enough in practice.
Pregnant people do not have warning lights on their foreheads. All pregnancies present some degree of danger, some present more danger, but by the time it becomes clear that the patient will die without intervention, it's often too late.
If someone is having a miscarriage that isn't complete yet, the time to administer misoprostol/mifepristone or perform a D&C is as soon as it becomes clear that the pregnancy isn't viable. If a doctor has to wait until an infection gets started because they're afraid of vindictive district attorneys deciding the threat to the mother's life wasn't serious enough, that's fucking stupid, and it will cause unnecessary pain and harm to tons of patients and kill some of them.
Anti-abortion lawmakers, when presented with such cases, blamed the doctors for taking them too literally in order to make the law look bad, then declined to provide any regulatory guidance to clarify when the medical exceptions can be used.
That's because only two types of people believe abortion can be banned: Ones who don't believe in obstetric science, and ones who don't believe pregnant people are human.
GAME OF THRONES 1.04 Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things
No I don't think you understand how good something like Bloodymary could be for the queer shipping ecosystem right now. At a time when monetization and AI is doing its level best to drain the love, community, and creative joy from our spaces, when the (glorious) queer media boom of the '20s is already making people feel like they can sit back and have it all spoon fed to them so why bother thinking outside the canonical box, a ship that sparks our curiosity enough for us to bring together two separate works for love of the game alone would be goddamn delightful.
I should be doing more to appreciate the lack of marvel movies in today's popular culture. I once yearned for marvel movies to have this level of irrelevance. They used to feel almost ozymandian, like an empire that had no beginning and no end. and now tony stark iron man is naught but two vast and trunkless legs of stone.
Kickstarting “The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Life After AI”
My next book, The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI, will be out in about a month – and (once again) Amazon's monopoly audiobook platform refuses to carry it, and so (once again) I'm pre-selling the audio, ebook and print edition in a Kickstarter campaign that proves that DRM-free isn't just the right way to reach an audience, it's also the best way to reach them:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/doctorow/the-reverse-centaurs-guide-to-life-after-ai
Reverse Centaur is a book about the realpolitik and the political economy of AI, written by a tech critic (me!) who is sick to the back teeth of hearing about AI. Central to the book's thesis:
The AI bubble is exceptionally bad and dangerous:
https://pluralistic.net/2026/05/07/dump-the-pumpers/#alpo-eaters-anonymous
The AI bubble is part of a lineage of pump-and-dump swindles created by monopolists who are desperate to convince investors that they can continue to grow even after they've saturated their markets:
https://pluralistic.net/2025/03/06/privacy-last/#exceptionally-american
In service to that stock swindle, AI companies have cooked up all kinds of ways to "juke the stats" to paint a false picture of AI adoption:

I think so many people are so deeply alienated from themselves that they have no clue how to exercise their free will and autonomy. For some, this alienation runs so deep that they are afraid of their own autonomy and humanity. It is completely understandable why one would have those feelings, but it can be worrisome.
I want to help others who feel this way, so here are small things I have done to exercise my free will:
Add "guilty pleasure" songs to playlists and actually listen to them (I have a ton of late 1990s-early 2000s music I listen to now proudly that I never listened to in the past out of shame)
Getting the décor item, bath set, bed spread, ect. in the patterns you like, even if it's "childish" (I got a dinosaur-themed wastebasket from the kids' décor section and I adore it)
Taking a new route to get to a place you go to often
Eat dessert first
Celebrate well, and often
Collect things that are "odd" or don't seem like an "acceptable" thing to collect (somebody on my "for you" page collects dandelion crayola crayons and it was so cool!!!!!!)
Incorporate one new piece in an outfit you wear frequently (e.g., a new chain, a necklace, ribbons, bracelets, ect.). Challenge yourself to add onto the outfits if you feel up for it.
Sing along to songs without worrying that you sound "good" or your intonation is completely accurate
Read a book from a genre you weren't allowed to read as a kid (comics, thrillers, mysteries, anything!)
Walk without having a specific destination or goal
Pick up a new craft without expecting yourself to master it or to ever be "good" enough. Get your hands messy.
I don't want to shame anybody for not feeling as though they have free will or that they are exempt from exercising it. However, I wanted to give ideas so that you might read this list and find your own ways to express your intrinsic autonomy and will. You deserve to be a person, to feel alive, not just living. That is what our lives are for.
Pro tip: when you see a brand new slang term, your first question should be how that term has been used in AAVE for the past 20-30 years.
A lot of people will agree that the proliferation and normalization of conspiracy theories in American society is dangerous and erodes our social fabric until you point out their emotional support conspiracy theory falls into that category. That's when you get very indignant people insisting they akshewally came to this conclusion based on Facts and Logic that "they" don't want you to know about.
