YKNOW. I feel like under most circumstances you’d never guess- or you’d maybe know but just as easily forget or just not think about it- that Doc and Biff are nearly the same height. Biff’s got like, two inches on the guy, but you never really see them stand terribly close to each other all that often. Well, other than Buford [same actor], but listen, this was a kneejerk thought and I’m following it and you’re all coming with me <3 I think it’s interesting [and also kinda funny] to think of the consistent ruler between these two guys.
Marty.
Because it’s- it’s something brought up a lot Individually between these two sets, but not really at the same time. That when Marty is around Biff- typically the young one or even Griff, but the same applies as they’re the same height on account of being the same actor ofc but shh- the running gag is literally Biff/Griff standing up tall and absolutely dwarfing Marty.
It’s threatening! It’s supposed to be! And it’s not something Marty thinks about until confronted with it [considering he gets that look on his face.. every time. Love you, little man]. And you know what else Marty doesn’t think about- and also doesn’t get confronted about or perhaps he would take note?
The other over six foot person in his life who does like. Literally the exact opposite. He’s constantly lowering himself to Marty’s level.
And THEN I wondered about if this was something Doc did normally, or if it was something that being around Marty just Teaches Him To Do. DOES he stand straight? HE DOES HE LITERALLY DOES. Right mid “future boy” distrust he not only doesn’t crouch but he LEANS he towers over him just a little extra.
Not out of intimidation or anything, but he absolutely does. [Still hunched, but judging by the framing out of universe it was a requirement, in universe I just do Not think Doc has good posture kadsljfa. The leaning over him is still very present.] And then of course, you have to wonder. How quickly did Doc transition into this habit.
LITERALLY LOOK AT THIS
He’s at his full height, and then not seconds later, he’s just gone and instinctively hunched to look Marty in the eye. We’ve breached into not even a day of this and as soon as Doc’s clocked Marty as a buddy there he goes.
And I know, maybe you’re like, well Sparx, this has just been 55 Doc so far. And 55 Doc is demonstrably a little awkward about having this new fantastic little buddy, maybe in his head he’s just being overly polite and- THINK AGAIN.
1985 Doc as well :) You can’t see his legs here but you know. We all know. Doc is Not the same height as Marty and Jennifer. In my head the crouch here looks so funny.
Not looking at Marty? Standing full height just fine. Looking at Marty?
Lowering himself is Mandatory.
And it just KEEPS HAPPENING. The above bit from the school, in the house- in three when Doc’s getting Marty set to go to 1885.
“He was gesturing at his shoes and just stayed there” THINK AGAIN BECAUSE HE’S STILL DOING IT TO TALK TO HIM NOT THIRTY SECONDS LATER
AND THEN I THINK THE BEST ONE IN THREE LIKE. This bit always gets me because it’s one of the most intense crouches we get out of Doc and it’s because he’s standing on a platform higher than Marty is but he’s still like, “ah, yes, mustn’t be too towering over my very small best friend. Luckily I have the solution.”
It’s interesting! As a comparison observation! But also incredibly funny to me <3 Marty you are completely unaware you are being “how to talk to a short person”ed every day of your life I love you so much.
I think Daylight Saving Time is good, that the complaints about it come from a loud minority whereas nobody feels the need to defend the status quo, and that if we did get rid of it there would immediately be a loud outcry to bring it back.
This is an unpopular opinion online, especially among other programmers, but I do think there’s a false consensus of anti-DST sentiment and that most people are basically in favor even if they never feel the need to say so.
I generally see these arguments against DST online:
When the sun is at X position in the sky, the clock should read Y
Sunlight during the morning commute improves traffic safety for drivers and kids waiting for the schoolbus
Sunlight after work improves viability of local small businesses and after-school activities
The rate of car crashes, heart attacks, and other hospitalizations spikes the day after each DST switch, in either clock direction
That last point seems to justify getting rid of DST all on its own.
5. It’s annoying as shit for no reason.
Point number 3 there is generally used as a strong point in FAVOR of DST. DST increases sunlight after work. "Spring forward" makes the work day occur earlier in the solar day.
I think you might be happier about Daylight Saving Time if you viewed it as a sort of festival or religious observance. Twice a year, we greet the change of seasons by all coming together as a people to reset our clocks. In this way we honor the cycles of nature and take our place respectfully within them. It's hard to account for the value of these sorts of ritual activities, but it's a part of the value of being human.
If we just accept that the clock grinds relentlessly forward at one minute per minute, isn't that too much of a sad mechanical existence? "The question," as Humpty-Dumpty said, "is which is to be master, that's all." Twice a year we show that we are the masters of the clock, and not vice-versa.
"resurrection is straight forward and easy with magic. It is just that everyone goes to heaven and heaven is so great it is addictive, so no one who is resurrected sticks around in the realm of the living for long."
This is why Raise Dead comes with a time-limit: you gotta get them out before they have a chance to get hooked. The reason True Resurrection is such a high-level spell is that you have have to summon a whole holy rehab clinic.
c'mon we didn't suffer through a solid decade of brony discourse just to say shit like this now.
The OP is close to a valid point, yaoi fandom is in fact many times more popular than yuri fandom. On AO3, for example, there's something like 6 M/M fics for every F/F fic. And this probably does say something about society, though I wouldn't trust OP to say exactly what. But to the extent yuri fandom is popular, it's mostly straight men, just like yaoi fandom is mostly straight women. That particular difference does not exist, and hence doesn't say anything about society.

do you have a kudamaki tsukasa opinion
Prior to experiencing Unconnected Marketeers, I had a below average opinion of her based entirely on neutrality (I didn't know her deal yet) minus my innate disdain for fox girls (because I think they are not done right basically all of the time), but after Unconnected Marketeers, I came to like her a LOT because she's a prim and proper fox: She's just really out to make your life harder and her signature move is to go "hey listen listen" to any given character on the screen that is not yours and go "you will benefit soooooooooo much from BEATING HER UP, you should really do it", and it always results in someone trying to kill you. Yeah she fights you a herself a few times as a midboss, but she's mainly just throwing rocks at you before going behind someone much bigger and telling her "That's the one! Get her!!!!" which I think is really good, a fox girl should be conniving, slimy, untrustworthy and out to GET you.
I also thought her outfit looked really silly and it reminded me of a tube... Then I realized, oh, she is specifically a kuda-gitsune, or tube fox. Awesome. BIG fan.
So yeah love her and whenever she is trying to get someone to bash your skull in with a rock. Really grew on me.
You know, it's aggravating to read fics where the writers have created Blorbo-Centered Morality - you know, the fics where everyone who's ever been mean to Blorbo are horrible irredeemable people, and Blorbo himself had never done anything bad ever, and we will reinterpret all of canon through this lens and divide the cast into Camp A (who understand Blorbo is perfect) and Camp B (monsters to be utterly condemned)
BUT
Sometimes you find a writer who has done this for, like, a D-list minor character, and suddenly the heroes who saved the world several times are having their worth defined by whether said world-saving involved being nice to this one random dude or being mean to him. Because said random dude has become this writer's Specialest Little Guy. THAT'S very funny actually.
Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?"
The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
its cool we have a new ability frontier that we can look at that isnt the default human one so we can finally make determinations on what is truly easy or hard,
things that we thought were hard that ended up being pretty easy

Province weighted ‘accuracy’ at 4%; ‘presence in Ontario’ at 30% in procurement scoring, report finds
Most AI note-takers approved for medical workers by the Ontario government had errors in their testing, the province’s auditor general found in a report released Tuesday. Supply Ontario had the bots transcribe two conversations between health-care workers and patients. Most of the vendors that were approved had inaccuracies in their results, including “incorrect information, AI hallucinations and incomplete information,” Auditor General Shelley Spence’s report notes. Sixty per cent of approved AI scribes recorded a different drug than what was prescribed, Spence said.

The province did not put much weight on accuracy in its testing. “Accuracy of medical notes generated” accounted for four per cent of points awarded to potential vendors, while “domestic presence in Ontario” was weighted the highest at 30 per cent, the auditor found.
It's like they say, 30% of success is just showing up (in Ontario).
Wait @femmenietzsche I changed my mind: TIL that we made special Coca-Cola specifically for Marshal Zhukov?? So he could have coke without being seen as an imperialist running dog.
White Coke (Russian: Бесцветная кока-кола, romanized: Bestsvetnaya koka-kola, lit. 'colorless Coca-Cola') was a clear variant of Coca-Cola produced in the 1940s at the request of Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov. It had the same flavor as the original, virtually unchanged by the absence of caramel coloring. Zhukov was introduced to Coca-Cola during, or shortly after, World War II by his counterpart in Western Europe, Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was also a fan of the drink.[2] As Coca-Cola was regarded in the Soviet Union as a symbol of American imperialism,[3] Zhukov was apparently reluctant to be photographed with or reported as consuming such a product. According to journalist Tom Standage, without corroborating sources, Zhukov later asked whether Coca-Cola could be manufactured and packaged to resemble vodka.[1][4]
I think it would be kinda neat to drink clear coke.

"without modifying" how dare you insult the hard work of our landlords
Yeah they paid someone pennies to do mediocre work! It's not easy to find someone to do that bad a job for so little money!
I think one relevant difference is that buying a house means paying property taxes on the house, even if you own it for less than a year. "Without ever using it" is in this sense false. Concert tickets and the other items don't incur property tax.
California Proposition 13
A major difference is that the other five are sold for a fixed price below market value by a single monopoly seller. You have to wait in line or get lucky to have the chance to buy something which is immediately worth more than you paid for it, which is how scalpers make their money. Houses are sold in a functioning market with many buyers and sellers. To the extent that they are a limited item in high demand, the price rises until the market clears. You don't instantly turn a profit by buying a house, the "scalper" business model does not work for them.
