Analysis of C#

So for those wondering the significance of C#, Jack prides himself on being able to sing it. Sure, you may think, anyone can sing a C#, it’s right between C and D. However, let’s take a look at the Gregorian chant Miserere Mei, Deus. For those of you who aren’t familiar with traditional Catholic hymns, the song is from this vine:

So now for the sheet music. The link is here. I’m taking a look at measure twenty, and here is the ending note of that measure for Cantus I:

That, my friends, is a C natural. This means that Jack Merridew can go a half of a note higher than that. I’m a soprano in my choir and I can only sometimes hit that note. Jack has the same singing range of an operatic soprano.
