i think it's really funny when people respond to this post with stuff like this bc unless you were born with congenital eyeliner disease, criticizing makeup etc is not criticizing women's looks. it's criticizing the beauty standards to which women are expected to adhere. and we'd all think they were ridiculous if we weren't raised with them. to quote some genius woman on here, "if it looks degrading and ridiculous on a man, it looks degrading and ridiculous on a woman, too. we're just used to seeing women degraded." one of the purposes of beauty rituals is to otherize women, making us look less like regular human beings and more like objects for display
