This is off the record, but we (you know who) are stuck on a case, and you haven't been brought in yet because, as we've been told "he's trying to figure his life out right now and doesn't need the distraction". Here's the details.
A chemist, Edward, has been found dead in his lab. There is no clear evidence of foul play, no fingerprints or noticeable disturbance in the lab. The only clue in the lab is a piece of paper lying by the body. The paper is blank other than the name of these elements scribbled across it:
Oxygen, Nickel, Lanthanum, Sulfur and Carbon
When interviewed, the front desk guard reported that only three people had visited the chemist that day – his sister, Laurie; his colleague, Nicolas; and his wife, Carrie. As far as he knew, none of them had any kind of problem with Edward. He hadn't heard or seen anything out of the ordinary.
We're at a dead end, Sherlock. Please check out the case and help us solve this.
I do not need to figure out my life in any kind, I have it all figured out perfectly and in control. Stupid excuse to not get me in on a case, you were probably just embarrased with your own stupidity at how easy this case is but you can't work it out.
Which it is, indeed. Very easy and obvious. Even Graham could work it out. Didn't even take me a milisecond to figure it out.
Then let me enlighten you from the darkness of your stupidity.
It's the colleague obviously, Nicolas. The letter was left by the dying chemist, trying to tell us who the killer is, but without making it too obvious to not alarm Nicolas and cause him to remove the paper to hide the evidence.
You just have to look at the symbols of the chemical elements he mentioned. Oxygen (O), Nickel (Ni), Lanthanum (La), Sulfur (S) and Carbon (C). Just rearrange those letters and what do you get? NiCOLaS.
No wonder he killed the chemist, he was jealous of his intelligence given the fact how stupid of a colleague he was himself. Couldn't even figure out that Edward had left the obvious testimony that it was him. He most likely tampered with one of the experiments, resulting in the release of poisonous gas which killed the chemist.
Next time, give me something more interesting.
