12/2/23 Run for the Beaches 1 Mile fun run/walk
This had a 5k option or 1 mile fun run/ walk. When I signed up in the summer, a mile felt challenging, so that's what I signed up for. My friend did the 5k. We both finished in about the same amount of time. Which was pretty perfect, actually. We walked another 2.62 miles after the official race along the beach.
This is the first official, non-virtural event/race I've ever done. I honestly wasn't that impressed. I feel like I can walk alone just as well. 🤷♀️ My racey friends kept talking about all the energy of a race. Again, meh? Didn't really feel it. I'm not really competitive, so maybe that's part of it, or maybe because I'm a walker not a runner?
I mean, it was fine but nothing out of this world about it for me.
JFC. Katie Ledecky is a mf beast. When I saw the two swimmers coming up behind her, I thought they were in 2nd and 3rd place, but they still had another 100 meters to go. Ledecky was chilling out at the finish for 36 seconds before the next swimmer actually finished. Just beastly. She’s a mermaid.

Beat my fastest time! And that's with pushing an 8 month old in a stroller. ❤❤🤪
Just some sunset selfies from today
Set PRs 2 days in a row 👊 Ran 2 miles with Chance's cross country girls. The only 2 that beat me turned around early, so really I beat all of them for the total distance. 16:51! It probably shouldn't make me this happy to beat a bunch of girls almost half my age, but it does. ☺️I've never pushed so hard in my life!
5/125
1.67 miles. 28:05 Min. Average pace 16:49 min per mile
I don’t know why I find this so hard, or why I set this goal for myself year after year. I don’t know how running became the ONLY goal I ever cared about achieving. I don’t know how the label of runner became such an important one to wear.
I am convinced that there must be people who enjoy the sport. I am convinced that enjoyment of running must be achievable after a time.
When does that day come?
