Homicidal Ideation Awareness Flag

This flag is in mostly red tones to convey both the violence inherent to homicidality, and the strength, vigor, and persistence people with homicidal ideation must have to cope and to live with their ideation.

The desaturated grey tones symbolize the stigma, and thus the 'moral ambiguity' of homicidal ideation and its recognition. One day, perhaps we'll see these stripes saturate into full color, as we see HI understood better and see it given respect and valid treatment methods.

The first version is the initial design I came up with, and shows the personal, internal factors of HI as lighter in value than the stripes influenced by stigma.

The second version brings both sections of stripes into equal color value, which could represent equal importance in all facets of homicidality (though this interpretation does not delegitimize the importance of the stripes in the first version).

The stripe meanings are as follows (sorted by order of stripes from the top down):

Recovery. The drive to manage one's homicidality in any capacity, and the push for better treatment/coping methods.

Self-sufficiency. The individual strength exhibited by homicidals in pioneering their own coping methods.

Community. The wide range of experiences of homicidals and the support and validation we give eachother.

Homicidality. The homicidal ideation itself, in any and all forms it may take.

Validity. The realness of our experiences and the importance and respect we deserve.

Recognition and reduction of stigma. The ongoing effort to address stigmatized perceptions and portrayals of homicidality and replace it with proper respect and support.

Reclamation. Pride in ourselves and our experiences, in spite of the stigma, and strength to talk about our homicidality openly and without censor.

I won't make any sort of DNI or anything for my flag. If you experience homicidal ideation, you're free to use it. Feel free to take the design and turn it into graphics or userboxes or what have you. Credit is appreciated, but not required. Just don't claim the design as yours, and we're good.

As always, please tell me if you have any critiques or anything! I wanted a flag with distinct stripe/color meanings and symbolism, and something that could represent everyone who experiences homicidal ideation. I've seen iterations of a flag that used certain weapons as a symbol, and while I like the idea, I also know not all of us relate to certain weapons, and not all of us want the heavy reclamation aspect present in a flag that has inherently violent imagery.
