Probably one of the first surrealist sculptures I've seen so far and it was done around the time the Spanish came to 'civilize' them.

It makes you really think hard about the big fat lie this system is based on white supremacy and on a Western foundation that assimilates and appropiates other cultures in every single aspect. There are even anthropologists that basically study indigenous cultures of the world just to often sell their ideas to some marketing company.

This was an entirely geographically isolated American culture, unlike Europeans with historical exchange and trade with Africa and Asia.

Olrox is the most interesting character in the whole cast of Castlevania Nocturne (at least until we see what Alucard will do in season two).

His understanding of human nature and the fact that he doesn’t want to attack ‘peasants’ but rather prefers ‘drink blue blood’ leaves me alone with the thought that he is hundreds of years ahead of his time. Many people think that us latinoamericanos didn’t have any type of resistance, but trust me when I say, that’s far from the truth; Olrox is the best way of putting it, he understands the thinking of colonialists and also understands the importance of being silent and letting the other speak, he doesn’t show his cards until the counterpart is vulnerable, he does the same that Native American revolutions did back then.

AND I LOVE HIM FOR THAT.

Birria Tacos || The Aztec Empire:

Ingredients

- 1kg beef chuck

- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

- Beer Stock

- Salt to Taste

Consomme:

- 3 guajillo chiles

- 3 ancho chiles

- 2 chiles de arbol

- 1 brown onion (roughly chopped)

- 3 plum tomatoes (sliced)

- 1 tsp black peppercorns

- 1 tsp cumin seeds

- 1 tsp coriander seeds

- 1 cinnamon stick

- A couple of bay leaves

- Salt to taste

Instructions:

1. Salt your meat and set aside.

2. Cut open your spices, making sure to remove the seeds and then soak them in warm water for 10 minutes.

3. In a pan, toast your spices, then set aside.

4. In a large pot, add some oil and begin searing your meat until browned. Then remove and add your chopped onions, garlic, tomatoes and toasted spices.

5. Add what was in the pot into a blender alongside 1½ cup of the soup, and proceed to blend.

6. Once done, place the meat back into the pot alongside the blended mixture.

6. Once done, place the meat back into the pot alongside the blended mixture. Mix until it's thoroughly coated. Add slight water if necessary, alongside your vinegar and beef stock. Let this cook for 3-4 hours or until the meat is tender and breakable.

7. Remove meat from the pot, and place into a bowl to break apart. Add the consomme so it doesn't dry.

8. Get your tortilla wraps, dip them in the sauce and then place it onto a frying pan, adding the grated cheese, meat and coriander and onion mix. Cook on a low-medium heat.

9. Use a slicer to close it up.

10. Serve and enjoy!

i feel like no one’s making crazy shit in fanfiction that isn’t weird smut. stay with me here ok i don’t mean that the quality of existing ff is poor bc it’s not. my issues that the existing stuff is v tropey. “mafia au” “coffee shop au” “royal au” yeah maybe but we can do better than that. each of those has a cooler version that i don’t see at all.

examples:

1. batfam au where the batfam = the Romanovs right b4 the russian revolution (there were five girls and 1 boy irl, but flip it to make the robins and steph or cass? idk who the queen would be)

2. instead of a “harry potter goes to 1942 and fucks tmr’s shit up”, send both those suckers to the fucking roman empire. could make them friends, mortal enemies, incredibly reliant on one another.. or lovers WHO SAID THAT

3. lawlight wherein L is one presidential candidate and light is the other. they break many laws and end up either both losing or with one as the other’s veep. (or they were both vying for their mutual party’s nomination, one got it, the other’s the veep, watch the US burn)

4. hannibal au where it’s the aztec empire and Will is going to be a human sacrifice to Hannibal (who’s a god here). idk how to do this with proper grace to the culture but i’m sure it could be done

ANYways the point is that coffee shops are cool but bland. i love lattes and “can i take your order” but jfc Live a little

Obsidian Mace from Mexico City, Mexico dated between 1325 - 1521 on display at the Templo Mayor Museum in Mexico City, Mexico

In the Aztec's view of the world, obsidian was considered a cold and nocturnal material. The deposit sites controlled by the Aztecs were found in the Basin of Mexico, whereby the product arrived at Tenochtitlan through trade as well as through the payment of tribute.

Most pieces found at the Templo Mayor were manufactured with green obsidian from the Sierra de las Navajas, a mountainous fromation located in the current state of Hidalgo; gray obsidian stones from deposit sites located in the current states of Mexico and Pueblo, ar found in lesser proportion as well as the "Meca" obsidian with red streaks, coming from various sources.
