You keep telling yourself it was for the best. You two broke up mutually so you could focus on your careers. But just because it was mutual doesn't mean it hurt any less. Bachira brought an unrivaled light to your life. He was your sun, your everything, and even though it's been eight years, there's still a hole in your heart where he was.
You turn his matches on whenever you can, cheering for him from the comfort of your room. As much as you'd love to go see him play, you have your own shows to worry about, and you aren't really too interested in being seen going to your ex's football game. You know it's not likely anyone would know your history, but just in case.
It's not like Bachira's been taking it well, either. Even after so long, he hasn't dated anyone else. In his mind, you're the only one for him. There's no one else Bachira would want to spend his life with, despite what the media may say about his interactions with, well, anything that breathes.
Since you're an idol, it's easy to find you online. He's not stalking you, he swears! (Besides, you regularly check his socials, too, but he doesn't need to know that.) He'll always check if you have a show nearby, and when you do, he makes sure to drag Isagi or Rin with him, so as not to look suspicious. He stands in the way way back so you won't spot him, but he sees you, still dazzlingly gorgeous as you perform.
It pains him to see you looking so fulfilled without him in your life. You always seem so put together and confident at your shows. A part of him thinks it's just an act, but another part wants to think you really are that happy, even if it's at the cost of his own joy. After all, your smile is still his favorite thing in the world.
And then, Bachira's secret double life as your biggest fan explodes in his face.
It all starts with a photo. Someone sees him and Isagi at your Kyoto show, and they snap a picture. They post it later with the caption, "Isagi Yoichi and Bachira Meguru spotted at (L/N) (Y/N)'s Kyoto show!" It hits the news the next day and is making waves. None of the Blue Lock boys had ever expressed any interest in idols, so seeing two of them at one of the most popular idol's shows is food for the fans. Isagi doesn't mind; after all, you're still friendly with him, and he likes your music. Bachira, on the other hand . . .
He's losing his shit.
He's absolutely terrified that you'll see the post and, even worse, get angry at him for not being able to let you go.
When you inevitably see it, your heart clenches. The selfish part of you is overjoyed that Bachira hasn't gotten over you either, despite how he still seems like his cheerful self during games.
Before you can stop yourself, you do something you pray you won't regret.
At Blue Lock's next game, you show up, wearing one of Bachira's old jerseys that he forgot to take with him and you never wanted to give back. He doesn't notice you in the crowd, but the spectators do. The next day, multiple photos of you in Bachira's jersey are trending.
He sees them, but doesn't reach out. He's scared of what this means, and so are you.
This dance goes on for weeks. He goes to your shows, and you go to his games. The media buzz dies down.
One day, you get a follow request on your private account from Bachira's. You accept.
The next day, he DMs you.
Bachibee: hey
Uruser: hi
You see him typing and deleting his next message for a few minutes. You can't blame him; you don't know what to say, either.
Bachibee: you've been at my games
Uruser: you've been at my shows
He's typing and deleting again.
Bachibee: sorry
Uruser: for what?
Bachibee: we broke up ages ago
You don't know what to say to that. It's true, but it's also obvious neither of you have let go.
Bachibee: i miss you
Your heart stops. Those are the words you've been wanting to hear from him for ages.
Uruser: i miss you too
Bachibee: come to my next game? as my guest this time
You don't even have to think about your response.
Uruser: i'll be there
The next weekend, you make your way to the VIP entrance at Tokyo's football stadium, where Bachira told you to meet him. He's pacing outside, his head snapping up when he notices you approaching.
"(Y/N)!" he exclaims, stumbling over his own feet as he fixes his hair and clothes.
You thought you'd be fine seeing him again, but now you're realizing how very wrong you were. His hair's slightly longer, and he's definitely a bit taller. But he still has that sparkle in his eyes and that stupidly cute smile on his face.
"Meguru . . ." Your voice catches on his name, and you find yourself forgetting why you two ever broke up in the first place.
He opens his mouth to speak, but no words come out. He doesn't know what to say to you after so long, but he knows what he wants to say. He wants to beg you to take him back. He wants to promise to never leave again. He wants to ask if you still love him.
You take a step toward him, and that's all it takes for Bachira to break. He surges forward, wrapping his arms around you in a tight hug. You've missed being able to hug him. He's still so warm.
"I love you," he whispers.
"I love you too," you reply.
"We're such idiots, huh?"
You let out a dry laugh. "We are."
You're both smiling now, and he leans down, resting his forehead against yours.
Bachira's smirk has me in a chokehold youre telling me this is the same dude who got bullied and apparently got NO VALENTINES CHOCOLATES?! smh yall fumbling
Pulled this little guy on my first spin on the those little anime capsule lottery thingies in Akihabara, and thanked someone out there it was the first try and not the thousandth for the one I want.
He now lives on my phone as a keychain, and things are going good.
