Song: If You Love Her by Forest Blakk
Notes: I am so sorry this is extremely short, but I have no idea how to make it longer. I also have no idea what I’m doing, and this feels a bit like a manual rather than a letter, but I’ve had the idea stuck in my head forever.
One use of Y/N, even though it’s not my favorite thing. I just can’t find a way around it.

Dear Dazai,
Part of me will never forgive you for taking Y/N from me. But I know it’s for the best. You can give them the life I never could. They did always say I was married to my work.
But I just wanted to let you know some things about them.
They like sleeping with the window open and only will sleep on the right side of the shared futon. Falling asleep is something they struggle with, and cuddling is the best way to remedy that.
Make sure they take their medication. They won’t want to. They say it tastes terrible, but they know they need it. They may also forget. So be sure to remind them.
Kiss them. They love affection, but especially kisses. I don’t care if you get embarrassed as I did. But it makes them feel happy. They said it makes them feel wanted. It makes them feel whole.
Don’t break their heart. They may not be my partner anymore, but I still care for them. And I will personally kill you if you do.
Respectfully,
Kunikida Doppo

When you’re ill, it often takes awhile for the sickness to fully settle in and hit its worst, but you tend to work through it, or at least try. With your boyfriend having such a highly-regarded reputation within the agency, there wasn’t a possibility you were going to taint his reputation. But somehow Kunikida is always able to tell. Even if it’s nothing but a cold, or a small fever, or mild discomfort for any reason at all, he’s capable of seeing it, and always sends you home, but not without a few reprimands. “Your productivity and quality of work will decrease if you try to work while ill,” he’d chide, despite your protests that none of that was even a hypothetical concern if you were to simply leave and do absolutely no work at all, “and you’re not likely to get any better without some rest.” You would sigh, a small pout forming on your lips. “Besides, you put everyone here at risk if your sickness is contagious.” This would always get you. The thought of you being the cause of your coworker’s discomfort was unpleasant, to say the least, and upon seeing the soured expression on your face, he would continue quietly, just out of earshot for everyone else, “Go home and get some sleep for now. I’ll come by after work; I’ve got you covered.” Kunikida’s voice still remained stern, but his words were comforting. Somehow he was capable of reassuring you even if he spoke as though a boss - or perhaps that was the very reason why. He was dependable, and intelligent, and the best planner you’d ever met, which was still an understatement. How you had ever wound up with him was still a mystery in your mind. But nevertheless, he always remained all-business at work, just as he had in your early days of being a member, and was very careful to conceal your relationship from the rest of your coworkers. Something about favoritism and personal ties getting in the way of progress.
At home, he was a bit of a different story. When he’d come over to visit you, he’d always make sure you were someplace comfortable, and that usually meant the bed, even if you felt fine on the sofa or in a chair. It was all in good will, but his decisive nature coupled with “Please, you need a better place to rest” always made you smile at its oddity.
If you were injured he would typically allow you to work, should it be something minor, albeit he’d be the one picking you up and dropping you off, and would always assign himself to your missions even if that meant switching around the initial plans for everyone else’s structured days, something that vexed you so considerably you still weren’t used to it. He’d always sit up next to you as you lay in bed, and just as when you should fall ill, he would read to you. Whatever books you wanted. Children’s stories, picture books, manga, comics, young adult novels, fiction, nonfiction, romance, action, thriller, horror, drama...anything. You always found his notebook to be the most interesting, however. Regardless of what it held he would lend it to you. As you flipped through the pages and read his neat handwriting, he’d check in on your state, feeling your forehead if you were ill or checking the site of the pain should you have suffered an injury. When you were done you began to feel the sleep beginning to pulse through your veins, and you would drift off to sleep. He would always pick up your place in his notebook and read it aloud as you fell away into dreams - guaranteeing you a good night’s rest.
