Its been a while since I've posted a public library graphic novel post. For today I have the graphic novel adaptation of Mary Shelley's Gothic novel Frankenstein.

The publisher is Classical Comics @classcomeducation who produces graphic novels and teaching resources to encourage reading and literacy in schools.

Coloring: Jason Cardy & Kat Nicholson

Lettering: Terry Wiley

The art is stunning so far. The monster is drawn in shadow to further illustrate the dark nature of the source material. The text is somewhat abridged but comes straight from the original text of Shelley's novel. I've gotten to chapter 2 of the story. Look forward to the rest of the story.

A legend that still holds us captive

I finished reading "Sweeney Todd: The Graphic Novel" this weekend. The graphic novel was adapted from Thomas Peckett Prest's penny dreadful serial "A String of Pearls."

I’ve finally finished the second of the two graphic novel adaptations of Midsummer I checked out from the library: Classical Comics‘ “Original Text” version of the play.

That phrase “Original Text” is crucial, for it points to the way that this company takes a different approach to creating a Shakespearian on-ramp than Stone Arch Books did.
