i just had a huge realisation and it must be shared
you know what the hatchetfield trilogy (i think it’s gonna be a trilogy of musicals but i could be wrong; anyway, bear with me) reminds me of?? and i don’t think I’ve EVER seen them compared before?? THE FUCKING CORNETTO TRILOGY??
for those of you who don’t know, the cornetto trilogy is a trilogy by british filmmaker edgar wright, definitely check them out if you can.
so here are all the similarities, which is insane to me:
- both are comedy-horror, that mix the two expertly while also having lots of emotional beats
- both have 3 (?) instalments, with each loosely based around a colour (blue = tgwdlm + hot fuzz, red = shaun of the dead + ?, green = black friday + worlds end)
- both are based around and subvert horror tropes like zombies, aliens, cults, robots
- both are trilogies mostly connected by their actors and running jokes, rather than a single continuous storyline
idk if there are any other starkid fans who are also edgar wright fans, but this SHOOK ME, and basically the message here is that cornetto trilogy fans should check out hatchetfield, and starkid fans should check out the cornetto trilogy.
