Whats jeff the killers favorite thing?

[jeff the killer x gn!reader, mildly nsfw mini thing]
Jeff has you trained.
Not even as a pet play thing, hes just trained you to do whatever he wants when he wants. You could still have your own life, you aren't a SLAVE, but if jeff orders you to get on your knees, you get on your knees. If he orders you to take off clothes, there is no "b-but.." theres only obedience.
Its not all sexual, sometimes you just need someone bigger and smarter to boss you around! He just wants to help you after all, and he only punishes if you deserve it.
Being obedient isnt a punishment for some grand wrongdoing, you just liked being owned. You like to be publicly kept, just a person who has everything perfect because jeff controls it.
You would get rewarded in affection and praise, and you got the honor of sucking him off every night. Sometimes it was violent and sloppy, his cock slamming into the back of your throat as he held you down and pinched your nose. Sometimes he pets you with his dick loosely slotted in your mouth, just sleepily slobbering on it while you laid in his lap.
You needed nothing else, just to be completely submissive someone who could easily kill you in seconds. He treats you well, like a doll he keeps under lock and key. You just do whatever he says. You are just his and only his, so you might as well be good and obey every word.

♡ Jeff getting along with the kids at Billy's birthday party.
❥ I saw a comment under Davis Morgan's reading of this mentioning that depressed kids and teenagers are often calmer and/or happier around young children and animals.
♡ Jeff's parents being weirdly dressed up for that party.
❥ There was another commenter under that video saying they thought there would be a twist that the party was really for something sinister because it had an odd amount of attention drawn to the formalities.
♡ Piggybacking off the last point, how almost inconsistently neglectful Jeff's parents are. In one scene it's shown that Margaret knows her sons well enough to know when they're lying, but then she and Peter go along with Liu being taken to Juvie despite Jeff's obvious distress and how suspicious the situation is. I don't think it's ridiculous to say this feels like a ploy to get rid of Jeff and Liu. Especially, combined with them not stepping in when Jeff gets attacked, kills 3 boys, and is burned alive. Though Jane Arkensaw's story isn't canon to the 2011 version, I thought I'd mention that they're still useless there! Jane's the one that put the fire out!
♡ The cops taking Liu to Juvie in the first place could be expanded into clear corruption.
♡ "Liu stood up, ready to punch the lights out of the kid's eyes." A lot of people portray Liu as the calmer more disciplined one, yet in quite a few origin stories, Liu's the one who swings first or is ready to throw down. He also isn't put off in the slightest by Jeff's excessive violence, "Liu could do nothing but look in amazement at Jeff."
❥ Jeff by that point has already been feeling violent urges, but it seems foreign to him, he doesn't recognize it. If Liu was the one with a history of violence it makes more sense that their parents would believe Liu started the fight (and technically Liu was the one who escalated it) and why Liu was surprised when Jeff beat the breaks off Randy and Co. It might overshadow Jeff's urges and be why their parents weren't as concerned about his shakey mental state in the hospital.
♡ Furthermore, Jeff not being able to identify his bloodlust could be expanded into him having Alexithymia, a disorder that causes one to have trouble identifying their emotions, causing confusion when it comes to them. Jeff describes his bloodlust as a 'feeling', along with maybe being unfamiliar with it and not being able to pinpoint it, it could be a literal symptom. He feels his emotions physically before he identifies them logically.
I'm not gonna list each and every single one here. Might make another post later at as a kind of part 2, but you get the point. This is precisely why I'm glad it wasn't expanded on. The possibilities get the brain working. The sheer amount of different theories and interpretations stemming from (practically) one story and image is amazing!

Routine was paramount. Tracking, pursuing and eliminating targets was nothing more than a very strict set of procedures. Whether an encounter ended in an abandoned warehouse, a suburban home, an alleyway or the forest didn’t matter, the outcome had been decided days in advance, always in his favor. And every location had a set of tactics to follow; there was no chaos or chance in the scuffles he often found himself in. Any injuries sustained would be due to overlooking something or missing a step, simple as that. So really, he should have seen it coming when a cornered hitman pulled a concealed dagger from his boot.
Liu dodged, and quickly backed away as the man lurched forward to pressure him and force him to lose his footing. He backed away more confidently and pulled the trigger as he managed to peel away, but it wasn’t further enough. The man slammed the dagger onto Liu’s hand, ruining his shot. Liu backed away before the hitman could stab him in the shoulder. Immediately, he lowered his gun to pivot and land a right hook on the man’s jaw to earn enough time to back away again.
The hitman didn’t let up, even if dazed he continued to pressure. Liu had to dodge even more desperate attempts to close in on him so he wouldn’t have another chance to realign the shot. He returned the gun to its holster before shoulder checking the man, and pulling his arm to extend it, before twisting it to break it. He heard the thump of the dagger hitting the floor before he registered the dry gasp followed by the scream from the hitman. Liu kicked the dagger away before the hitman fell to his knees to try and grab it. The man trashed and cursed at him trying to pull away, but Liu grabbed his gun once more and shot him point blank, ending the fight.
He held the body by its arm for a moment longer, taking in how the blood rushed from the gaping hole in the head hanging low without a person with fear trying to keep it upright anymore. How it pooled on the floor, just by his feet.
Liu closed his eyes, and sighed at ease.
He returned the gun to its holster, before dropping the body. He sighed again hearing the dry thump, and pulled the body so it would rest on its back, reassured by how heavy it was. It never ceased to amaze him how heavy corpses were, especially ones like this that moved so fiercely to oppose him, and then were nothing but a slab of tissue that was difficult to ever picture moving by itself again. Once Liu settled the body on its back, arms and legs stretched, jacket and blouse undone for easier access to organs, he contacted Jack.
“Target down,” Liu announced through his radio, noticing the cut on the back of his left hand, right where the blade hit him. Only when he laid eyes on the red line splintering into streams of blood did the wound start to hurt. He tested the grip on the radio to see how bad the damage was. The cut stung, but worse was the pain radiating from the flesh that absorbed the shock of the hit.
“Copy,” Jack replied. “Injuries?”
“Minimal,” Liu switched the radio to his right hand, “Only a cut. It looks worse than what it really is.”
“Where?” Liu could hear the slight narrowing in Jack’s expression as he asked.
“Back of my left hand. Diagonally to my knuckles. My fingers retain full mobility—it just stings really.” Liu dispelled Jack's probable concern over getting his tendons cut.
“Copy,” Jack replied, tone flat again, “location?”
Liu closed his eyes to retrace how many turns he took while hunting the target down. Industrial sites were always an optimal place for a takedown, and considering he cut the target from making it into a busy avenue he could take pride in that choice. All was as it should, except he failed at considering a second weapon. That bothered him still. Even if he’d ended in an ideal final location in one of the trickier scenarios he could be in, it didn’t erase that mishap.
He sighed and opened his eyes, looking up to the buildings he stood between, and the tallest one he could see out the alleyway. “From contact point, about 13 blocks to the southwest in an alleyway between a run-down brick building with black metallic shutters, and a more modern white concrete building that’s clearly an administrative center. The chimneys we chose as a reference point are at my 3’o clock.” “Copy, update if you change locations.”
“Wilco.” Liu replied.
Across the voice channel he heard a satisfied huff, “You really make this too easy.”.
Liu smiled, “It’s not that remarkable.”
“Don’t be humble,” Liu heard Jack smile back, “You were here last mission.”
“Brian did not get lost-”
“Toby distracted him,” Jack finished what he was about to say. “And we lost an hour locating them before we could leave, and there were other casualties in the mix on top of that.”
Liu hummed.
“Gorgeous, agree with me,” Jack egged him on, Liu could picture perfectly the arrogant edge in his smile, “You know you want to.”
“Just because you compliment me does not mean you can be rude about others,” Liu lightly scolded.
“Tsk. There you are.”
Liu held his radio to his ear even if no communication would follow, he couldn’t put it down until he was back with his team. He waited a couple seconds until he heard Jack’s heavy boots take a step out of the shadows of the alleyway. He strained his eyes to locate Jack and saw he’d manifested just by the main street. Jack offered a small wave as he approached slowly.
“You being the best at this means I can say whatever I want,” Jack said addressing him.
“Not at the expense of others, no.” Liu crossed his arms.
“They can’t hear me,” the orientation of Jack’s mask changing towards the corpse made it clear he was examining the body as he came to stop by it.
“I can hear you,” Liu replied as he walked and stopped by the body as well.
“And that I care more about. Good point,” Jack recognized as he knelt by the body and left the duffle bag he brought on the floor to rummage through it. “So, what do we have here?”
“Broken arm and bullet wound in the head. Very explosive exit point since I shot the target point blank,” Liu said, “No other organs impacted as far as I can tell.”
“Hm,” Jack’s smile was audible beneath his mask as he took out a cold box from the bag. “No inspection window in this one.”
“Didn’t feel the need.”
“Hope he didn’t give you too much trouble and that's why you left it to me.”
“No, just a little cut.”
“I’ll see it in a moment,” Jack leaned over to the body and took a deep breath, and that gave him pause. Liu saw him calculate before grabbing a scalpel from the bag and cutting an incision from sternum to navel. Immediately he scoffed and cringed away, clicking his tongue annoyed before he settled down.
“No good?” Liu tilted his head, curious.
“No,” Jack complained, returning the cold box to his bag, “Herpes, too high concentration of lead, the guy also consumed some sort of stimulant drug, and—” he sniffed again, and scoffed, “There is something else that just smells here… I wouldn’t be surprised if he has some infection somewhere.”
“Ah.” Liu replied, more surprised that Jack could tell all of that just by smell alone. “Does it really reek?”
“No,” Jack set to clean his scalpel, “It’s like when you smell a chemical and it is overwhelming and unpleasant. There are just these things that jump at me.”
“Oh. Sorry it isn’t good.”
“It’s fine,” Jack shrugged, saving the last of his tools back in the bag. “I got reserves, and I have a mission with Nat and Toby for a more average target in two days,” Jack stood up and turned to look at him.
“Glad that’s the case.”
“Your hand,” Jack gestured for him to show him the wound.
Liu extended his hand, palm towards him so Jack could see the cut. “Don’t think it is too bad.”
“Open and close your fingers and wiggle them. One by one.”
Liu did as instructed, feeling the sting get worse when he moved his ring and index finger, but he could manage just fine so he wasn’t worried.
“Hm.” Jack lowered the bag to the ground again and pulled a first aid kit, quickly getting cotton and disinfectant and gesturing for Liu to let him grab his hand.
Liu complied and found it cute that Jack removed his mask and narrowed his eyes —sockets? — to stare intently at the wound. Jack proceeded to douse alcohol in it and rub cotton balls to clean and probably see it better. Liu did hiss as the alcohol stung as it came into contact with the cut but he made sure to stay still so Jack could work.
“Tendons impacted but not severed,” Jack muttered.
“Are you going to have to stitch it?”
Jack did not reply, just staring intently as his careful cleaning came to a halt. “Hm.” he uttered, sounding frustrated. Too frustrated for what shouldn’t be a major wound.
“Jack?”
Jack blinked seemingly surprised, and then moved his head slightly as if to regain focus. “Maybe…” he replied. It was an uncharacteristically airy and slow answer for him.
Liu flexed his hands in turn, not meaning too but the change in Jack’s demeanor immediately made him wary. As he did that more blood rushed out of the wound and Liu heard Jack gasp quietly while he tensed up. “Jack-” he called in a lower albeit firmer tone.
Jack diverted his attention up to him, what would be a quick glance if Jack had eyes, Liu recognized. Something severe and terrifying lived in that exchange of looks, before Jack focused back on the wound again, clearly clenching his jaw. Liu heard him take a deep breath and immediately he recoiled, looking away from him.
“Jack—" he tried again. Jack grabbed his hand more harshly.
“Don’t move,” Jack struggled to say through gritted teeth. He sighed but as he took a deep breath to follow it up he recoiled away more violently, trying to press his nose to his shoulder as he blinked a couple of times.
“Fuck…”
Liu didn’t dare to move, the way Jack tensed up before asking him to stay put painted a clear picture that if he moved Jack might move recklessly in turn.
“Dammit…” Jack whispered, before laughing in disbelief. The displeased sound dissolved into a frustrated groan, followed by a desperate gasp. Liu could feel Jack’s hand start shaking as he held onto him, the shaking growing more and more erratic as Jack struggled to level his breathing until he suddenly stepped away, “Your blood—”
“What?”
“It’s…” Jack pressed his lips tight shut and groaned again. He pressed a hand to his mouth.
Liu brought his injured hand closer to himself and pulled the edge of his jacket over it as the situation became clear. Probably the inconsumable state of the body rendered him as the only viable source of food and that had triggered Jack’s hunger. Even if satiated, Liu didn’t find it odd for a stray craving to strike. It was only natural, so he took a couple of steps back in hopes it would help somehow. If he ran it might just push Jack to try and hunt him.
Jack hummed, not in his usual contemplative or annoyed manner, but almost trying to quell some mounting distress. He removed his hand from his mouth, droll clearly pooling by the edge of his lips, “Liu… can… I… have your blood…”
“What—”
“I’m… I’m losing it,” Jack admitted, “So please... please.”
Liu blinked, such desperate inflection sounded foreign in Jack’s mouth. “Will… that be enough?”
“Yes…” Jack nodded, dropping the first aid kit as his hands trembled, “Yes…” he repeated, louder, “That’d be best before… It… yes. I just need a taste.”
Liu held his gaze. Jack took a shallow breath clearly trying to contain himself, and stood there not daring to move forward, trembling. Expression between pained and pleading. Liu didn’t recall ever seeing him like this, and he wanted this to be the last time. He held his hand out to Jack, reasoning that having some blood might take the edge off of the frenzy.
“Alright,” the words barely left his lips when Jack’s claw —Not hand, he didn’t even see the shift —settled on his side and closed tightly to keep him upright while the other took hold of his wrist and pulled it up.
The swiftness Jack used to close the distance between them and grab him left Liu disorientated. For a moment he was lost in that alleyway looking up to the starless sky as he realized he wasn’t standing anymore and his mind caught up to him so he could finish processing what had happened, but by then Jack latched his lips to the wound and sucked on it. Liu zeroed on Jack, taking another second to understand what he was seeing. Aside from seeing an awfully blissful expression on Jack's face, with lidded eyes and puckered lips, Liu heard him hum relieved. He could feel the vibration against his skin and that was more disconcerting than the fact that the satisfied sound was dangerously close to a moan. Liu had to gasp for air, as a dizzying warmth seared his cheeks and ears while his heart beat fastened enough, he was forced to pay attention to it. It was overwhelming. Not that he expected something like this to be anything near a regular and easily missed ordeal, but finding it stimulating was still a surprise.
He took a deep breath, and remembered he still had a free hand he could use. He placed it over Jack’s claw gripping his side, to ground himself but also signal to Jack to slow down. “H-hey…” he tried.
Jack replied by pulling his wrist more harshly and swiping his tongue along the edges of the wound. It hurt a whole lot, but Liu could quickly overlook that as it dragged something primal within him out to the light. He didn’t even register how much of a broken desperate sound he made as he grabbed onto Jack’s bicep and squeezed it.
“Jack—“ he muttered.
Jack pressed his face more stubbornly to his hand, moving his lips again to pinch the wound as he ran his tongue along the tendons on the back of his hand. Liu had to bite his lips and accept as his face heated up more due to finding the entire thing arousing. Maybe he did gasp or moan because Jack hummed in what Liu knew to be a very amused tone. He redoubled his efforts trying to hold onto Jack, otherwise he was in his grasps and couldn’t do much else.
It was the type of risks and surrendering to circumstances he wasn’t used to, but he wasn’t about to stop it. And like a bad joke the second he thought that, razor sharp teeth clamped down on his hand. He yelped from the pain and had to grit his teeth to keep himself from yanking his hand away, sure Jack would simply pull back out of instinct. Liu brought his free hand and pushed against Jack’s face for him to let go, digging his nails into Jack’s cheek and pushed even more violently when Jack tightened the bite in reply.
Liu knew he had not meant it, and he didn’t blame him for it. His own need to tear into flesh and indulge in its warmth was impossible to ignore once it took root on him. With the person gone and sure he couldn’t bother them anymore— only when the body remained — he’d dig his hands in. Hold and pull at the edges of the wound until he could push his hands in and feel the still living flesh pulsating, almost embracing his hands as he stole its warmth. That impossibly tender warmth that would melt away the restlessness that drove him mad.
He wondered if Jack felt something similar. Even if he did this to quell his hunger, he wondered if it lulled him. Maybe with the hunger pangs gone he could feel himself again without that pain. Or maybe it was a simple question of satisfaction. He was deadly curious, but he needed his hand.
“Jack!” He demanded sternly.
Jack growled before relaxing his jaw, enough to release Liu’s hand from the vicious edge of his teeth. Still, it took another insistent push for Jack to move his head to the side so Liu could pull his hand out. As soon as he did Jack let go of him and looked away, placing a claw to the cheek Liu scratched, shame clear. He stumbled back dazed. Immediately Liu hissed, surprised at how cold his skin felt upon contact with the air due to the slobbering mess of drool. He followed with a sigh, thankful it provided some relief from the burning pain of the bite, but now moving his hand sent a horrible sensation up his arm.
“I need to leave—” Jack whispered, still avoiding his gaze, only now taking the initiative to walk away. His mask broken on the floor. “I’m sorry—”
Liu grabbed his claw with his uninjured hand before he could get away, Jack didn’t turn to look at him. “Stay.”
“No.”
“Are you going to do that again?” Liu asked. “Be honest.”
“No… no— Never.” Jack shook his head, “I’m sorry—”
“Then there is no reason for you to leave.”
“Liu—”
“Are you mad I scratched you?”
Jack hunched in on himself, “Fuck no… I might have chomped your hand off…There is nothing—”
“Are you starving right now?” Liu didn’t let him waddle in guilt. There was already too much guilt in the world and not enough solutions.
“No…” Jack shook his head, he tensed up visibly angry “I shouldn’t be… but the smell— I’m sorry.”
“I’ll help you find a body.”
“No!” Jack turned back to look at him, with a frown, smudges of black pitch blood in his cheek, where Liu grabbed and pushed. No other traces of the scratches left. His mouth and neck shone under the few industrial lights in the alleyway, where the fresh blood clung to him, slowly dripping from his chin.
Liu held his gaze, Jack’s frown worsening. “I need to clean that and it is bad enough I need to treat it right now… and I… I can’t…” He pressed his lips tight shut and looked away again, swiping away at his mouth only for stands of drool and blood to stick to his hoodie’s sleeve.
He must have been hungrier than what he let on.
“Then let me find a body for you,” Liu insisted.
“None will do,” Jack said dryly, tsking and walking away, wiping his mouth again frustrated.
“None?”
“No.”
“Why—”
“Our mission is over—” Jack said sternly before sighing, “— I’ll get you back to the infirmary and set you up so you can disinfect it and do some preliminary bandaging while I come back and drive the car. By the time I’m back I should be able to look at it.”
“Will you eat my arm if you do it now?”
Jack crossed his arms. Liu could see him growing tenser.
“If it’s the case I will follow your suggested plan,” Liu said.
“Not your arm…” Jack admitted in a quieter voice, the ghost of something else in that admission, something hanging above them right now
“Then?” Liu asked. Jack stayed quiet for long, too long. Or at least long enough for Liu to confirm his suspicions, and for Jack to realize that.
“If not my arm, then what?” Liu asked so he’d address it.
But Jack scoffed and tried to act like nothing had happened. “We should go back—” he tried.
Liu didn’t let him continue, closing the distance with just a few determined strides and colliding against him. Pushing his body against Jack’s back and bringing both his hands to rest on his chest, both to trap him in a hug, and to keep the blood within his sight. “No other body will do because you are not exactly hungry. Correct?” He asked.
He felt a quiet gasp from Jack and then heard a wavering sigh. “Damn you… yes…” Jack admits, placing his claws over Liu’s hands. Another sharp inhale follows before he continues, “Don’t think the smell alone would be getting to me… if I didn’t have ideas before that, and then you react like that-”
Liu hummed, and rested his cheek against Jack’s back. “How sordid are we talking?”
“Ha…” Jack huffed amused, his tail— Liu didn’t realize he’d shift forms besides his claws until now — moved, tapping Liu, probably to feel and get a sense of where exactly he was, before pressing his tail to Liu’s leg. “They are getting worse… and we should really disinfect that bite…”
Liu slid his injured hand up Jack’s torso, purposefully feeling the muscles he could as he did. The movement clumsier than he’d liked from the burning and stinging in the flesh between his thumb and index finger, but the surprised huffing from Jack made up for it. “As an accolade do, I really run the risk of it getting bad?” He couped Jack’s jaw as best he could, amused hearing him take another deep breath to gather himself.
“As a human with a bite that gnarly it stands to get worse than bad… doesn’t factor if you are my follower.”
“If you don’t treat it right this instant?” Liu did nothing to hide his curiosity or minimize the teasing in his voice.
Jack took another deep breath. His tail that rested against Liu’s leg, suddenly coiling around it, tightly. Desperate for contact. Liu replied with a very loud sigh.
“If I don’t treat it in the next hours…” Jack said, “But… I can’t guarantee I won’t bite you again… which is the problem here.”
He hummed at Jack’s vote of confidence. “Well, I’m still bleeding so you should lap that up first before getting any ideas.”
“What the fuck…” Jack whispered surprised, he tried to look at Liu over his shoulder.
Liu did enjoy the shift and stretch of the muscles he was pressing against, as well as offering a serene smile to Jack.
Lust. He’d gone years without experiencing plain lust. He wasn’t surprised it was tainted now with the bloodlust that he couldn’t extricate from his being anymore, and with someone like Jack there was maybe no other way it could be.
“Were you always into kinky shit like that?” Jack wondered.
“Were you?” Liu laughs.
“I’m a surgeon.”
Liu laughs even more “Don’t think I fully understand the implications of that answer.”
Jack steps away, releasing his leg and his hand, to be face to face with him again. Offering him a handsome smile, edging on a snarl. “I was just trying to be clever, forget about it.”
“Alright—” Liu raised his hands to cup Jack’s face.
Jack in turn settled his claws on his hips and brought him closer, “Thank you.” Jack offered, before grabbing Liu’s injured hand and placing a kiss in the palm.
Liu only sighed content as a reply, immediately pressing himself against Jack once more and letting his tongues — oh that’s new — roam free across his skin. He chuckled amused, but had to bite his lips since the desperation in Jack’s lapping very quickly overwhelmed him again. He didn’t expect it to get him so fast.
“Can… can you kiss m-me… at least before you continue…” he asked.
Jack pulled him impossibly close before letting go of his hand, capturing his lips and kissing him with wanton slow movements, careful not to cut him with his teeth. Liu in turn used his uninjured hand to hold onto Jack’s shoulder, eventually dissuaded by its width, so he settled on grabbing a fistful of Jack’s hair. Pulling a groan from Jack that left him no choice but to bite him back. Pulling at Jack’s lip before parting from him, getting a taste of his blood.
Liu didn’t consume blood, just the occasional splatter that’d get in his mouth after shooting a target up close like today, but the metallic almost acrid taste was still unmistakable. So, he wasn’t sure what this was. Maybe Jack’s blood was so impossibly metallic he couldn’t really describe the taste. It wasn’t pleasant but it wasn’t really about that either, it had all to do with inflicting the bite, as well as having Jack grab at him harshly and manhandle him against the alleyway's wall.
“Don’t do that,” Jack demanded while caging him against aged bricks. Surprisingly he followed it by nuzzling his neck very sweetly.
“Hm?” Liu managed between heavy panting.
“I’m not sure my blood is safe for human consumption,” Jack reflected but his tone dropped immediately, “You are so warm.”
Liu squirmed at those words, and at Jack pushing him more harshly against the wall and nuzzled his neck again, teasingly lowering his scarf by pulling at it just enough. Liu pawed at Jack’s hoodie to keep hold of something. “Are you thinking of biting my neck?” he whispered.
“Too dangerous,” Jack replied before placing an open mouth kiss just below his jaw, “hearing you falling apart like this is enough…”
Liu choked out a laugh as he felt unbridled earnestness and lust explode in his chest, surprised by those words, and how terribly devastating they were. He pressed his head against Jack’s without meaning to interrupt him, pulling at him to encourage him to keep going. “Well, it's only fair… Don’t like seeing you in pain but maybe pleading…”
Jack’s movement stuttered but he settled by pressing another kiss to Liu’s neck and replying, “I find your ability to reply so effectively devastating… don’t do it again.”
Liu giggled, and leaned more to Jack’s touch. “Alright.”
“Fuck.” Jack whispered before pulling away to look at him, blushing a furious dark shade, black as the night. “This is exactly what I mean.”
The only levity Liu offered him was a sweet smile and a tug as he leaned in to meet him half way for a kiss, which Jack corresponded with a grumble. His dissatisfaction was quickly forgotten as Liu held onto him tenderly but with a marked enough desperation in how he pushed against his lips and invited his tongues into his mouth that had Jack worked up again in no time. Jack couldn’t stay indignant at getting flustered, not when Liu could feel the complaints and snark melt off of him by how he pawed at his sides and struggled to stay still as the kisses grew slopier. Jack was markedly clumsy at this, not that Liu would admit that out loud. He found it cute, that he would admit gladly.
Cute and overwhelming in all the best ways. Despite his clumsiness just how eager he was taking every stutter and awkward angle away. Liu leaned in and helped Jack in removing his scarf, the edge of it cold from the drool. He had to stop him from yanking his jacket off or he might have torn it. Liu moved his shoulder so Jack could pull it away and a new wave of pain climbed up his arm.
Right, his partially mauled hand.
Jack blinked surprised and then his expression hardened, “Liu—”
Liu lifted his injured hand up to Jack, purposefully pushing it against his lips, just now realizing the bite had made the bleeding worse and that the entire sleeve of his jacket was stained. “I doubt it’s been an hour.” He insisted.
“No but—” “Does it calm you down?”
Jack’s eyes widened before narrowing and looking away. “No… it’s like a high”
“Oh…”
“Does this calm you down?” Jack asked, returning his gaze.
“Not this… I’m simply enjoying it.”
“Ah… that answer is worse,” Jack pressed a kiss to the wound while staring directly at him,“You know that?”
Liu only let out some airy chuckles, the haziness from the entire ordeal making his head swim.
Jack sighed and closed his eyes before applying pressure with his lips against the wound again. It hurt more this time, enough for Liu to groan from the discomfort but as soon as Jack hummed and stopped frowning, pure delight returned to his face, Liu shut his mouth close and used his free hand to caress Jack’s cheek as he took a deep breath. Jack leaned against his touch, appreciating the sweet gesture while once more shoving him more harshly against the wall. The friction was a relief. Liu melted in his grasp, leaning in and suddenly falling forward.
It must have been a second. It felt like a second, but he panicked at the sudden sensation of falling. He blinked and jerked away startled just to realize he was resting on Jack’s shoulder. A heavy claw settled on the back of his head.
“Shhh…” Jack tried to ease him. Liu realized he had probably slumped into the floor and Jack had caught him and was holding him upright by his midsection while keeping his head resting against his shoulder. “You are awake?”
“Yes…”
“We have to go back now,” Jack stated, with no room to argue while he held onto him and stood up before settling on carrying him in his arms. “I didn’t even consider the blood loss in all of this.”
“Ah,” Liu recognized, staring up to Jack, seeing his face, neck, t-shirt and hoodie all stained in red. “Alright…”
Jack hummed and pressed a kiss to his forehead and gave him a smile, “I suspect the blood loss isn’t that bad but you lost enough that a boner would make you pass out.”
Liu blinked surprised but chuckled too, “This is embarrassing.”
“It’s very flattering,” Jack argued as he walked towards the exit of the alleyway. “Besides I am merely speculating.”
“Thank you for saving my dignity,” Liu replied.
“Of course.”
“There is no need for that—”
“Gorgeous,” Jack stopped by his discarded supplies and used his tail to return everything to the bag before closing it and grabbing it. “I thought you were more reasonable than this,” Jack scolded.
He leaned against Jack’s chest, “I forget myself with you. I apologize.”
“Fuck. Seriously, don't say anything else… Radio Jane to tell her we are going back and to have a blood infusion ready since I couldn’t treat you on site and are bleeding.”
Liu took a moment to locate his radio with his uninjured hand and radio Jane. “Base, do you copy?”
“Copy,” Jane replied, “Returning?”
“Yes, targets eliminated. No collateral casualties. Prepare an infusion of blood AB negative, Jack couldn’t treat me on sight.”
“What?” Liu could picture her worry, and how she stepped back and resumed communications. “Injuries?”
“Several cuts on left hand, dorsal venous arch affected,” Jack replied while he looked at Liu,“He passed out a couple of seconds ago so prepare the infusion and clear the infirmary, he is stable but I need to be quick.”
“Roger,” Jane replied. “Jack, can you recover the car later?”
“Yes,” Jack replied.
“Copy, come back I’ll have the infirmary set up. Out.” Jane closed the conversation.
“You just don’t want her to see the bite,” Liu recognized, lowering the radio.
“Correct. She will think less of me…and your brother already gives me enough trouble.”
Liu hummed and leaned against him again. “I think Jane would get upset with me first before she judges you.”
“Absolutely…I was an innocent bystander and you got me with your wiles. So she should get upset with you,” Jack scoffed, “But I don’t want you sad, so we are simply doing a coverup.”
“Brilliant,” Liu chuckled.
“Always,” Jack pressed another kiss to his forehead as he stopped by the longest shadow he could find in the alleyway. “Hold your breath.”
Liu took a deep breath before Jack stepped into the shadow, closing a most definitely successful mission. He didn’t feel all that slightly anymore over that blunder.
dumping bodies has never been so fun!
Summary: Nina gets hypothermia while dumping her latest kill, and she had a conversation with Eyeless Jack when he helps her warm up.
Word Count: 3.6k | Ao3 Link
Nina stepped back to admire her work. The man she'd lured into the woods with sweet words and tight clothing was lying dead in the snow. Blood splattered around him, staining the ice around him. She was feeling nostalgic, and she'd cut a big grin onto his face. She had mostly stopped with that part of her MO. It was a relic of her days lusting after Jeff, and she had much, much better things to be doing with her time. However, she was sure that the world would be better off without this particular dirt bag, and if the world wasn't going to express its joy, she would.
Nina sighed. She didn't particularly care for disposing of bodies. It was the worst part of killing someone, no doubt. This one, at least, would be be easier to get rid of then most. The bright side of walking deep enough into the woods that no one would hear him scream was that the river wasn't much farther. She considered the body again, crossing her arms over her chest. She hadn't really noticed before, but it was absolutely freezing. Did she really have to dump the corpse? It would a hassle to cut up the body and throw it into the river...
Just thinking about it made her tired, and she was already cold. If she left it, though, someone might find it. And not only would she have to move from her cozy corner of woods, they might mistake it for a one of Jeff's kills. The thought was enough to twist her face into an ugly sneer. She wasn't going to let Jeff or this dirt bag get any more attention. She finally forced herself into moving, going through her usual post-kill search. This time, though, she also took his coat, torn and bloodstained as it was. Nina's clothes, while colorful and flattering, did absolutely nothing to keep her warm in the frozen forest. She shrugged the coat around herself, ignoring the stench of blood and cigarettes.
Nina stepped back from the body, leaving it in a heap, while she savored the new warmth. She would have to cut into the body at some point- snap. A twig breaking, quiet, but in soundless forest, it was like a thunderclap. She pulled out one of her knives, still bloody from her latest kill, and looked around for the source of the sound. Standing directly behind her, was a dark figure in a blue mask. It stared at her, not moving except for the crawl of black tears down its face. Nina huffed, a cloud of white billowing in front of her face. Jack. She'd run into the demon a few times before, though she tended not to stick around him very much.
"Jack." She greeted, trying to hide how much he'd spooked her. She might be a serial killer, but she was still human, and humans didn't like sticking around things that would gladly eat them. Jack was creepy even by her twisted scale. Although, since he was here... "He's all yours." She stepped back, gesturing at the body. At the very least, she could get out of disposing of at least some of the corpse. It was also probably a good idea to keep on friendly terms with the cannibal demon.
It dipped its head to her, and she stepped out of the way, nearly tripping over her own feet. She cursed. It was really too damn cold out here. At least she didn't have to get blood out of carpet this time. At least it wasn't bloody carpet. Nina backed up a little farther. She had heard stories about Jack's eating habits, and despite her instincts screaming at her not to, she wanted to see for herself. Jack hunched down in the snow over the corpse, straightening it out from the pile she'd dumped it in.
He pulled off the backpack he was carrying and pulled out several containers from it. Not exactly what she expected from a demon. She also didn't expect for it to pull out a scalpel and surgically extract the organs. The whole process was a lot less messy than what she had imagined. He was done surprisingly quickly. It obviously knew what it was doing. Jack packed the organs away, and stepped back with a nod. It was, after all her kill. She shuffled closer.
"There's a river not far from here." Nina explained, though she wasn't sure how much Jack actually understood. She kicked the corpse, cursing it for existing, and making her haul it around in subzero conditions. Before she could pick it up, though, Jack did. It nodded toward her, and after a moment, she started walking. That was nice of him. Maybe it was a thank-you for allowing him to take the corpse's organs? But it wasn't like she had any use for them, and it was easier to clean up this way.
When they got to the river bank, Jack also helped her carve up the body. It took less time that it normally would for her to dismember a body of this size, even though her movements were stiff and clumsy. Seriously, she almost cut her finger! It was hard to practice good knife safety when she couldn't really feel her fingers. She shrugged it off. She would be out of the cold soon. She just had to stand up. Nina pulled herself up from the ground, feeling like someone was poorly puppeteering her limbs. She grabbed the nearest body part and hurled it into the river. She hadn't bothered to weigh it down. It'd be fine, probably. How many people were hanging around a river in the middle of winter?
Jack stood back, watching as she tossed the pieces, one by one, into the river. Nina paused a few times, before she catches sight of the dissembled corpse and gets reminded of what she's doing. She was shivering so hard that her teeth are clacking together. She really, really hates getting rid of bodies. At least, this is the last part. She grabbed the man's head, and stepped out toward the river. She gets closer and closer to the edge. Too close. Nina stumbled over her already cold legs, and plunged in.
The river is the coldest thing Nina has ever experienced. It ripped the breath from her lungs, and she lost her grip on the head. It's cold enough that Nina can't even think, can't struggle. The surface of the water glittered above, not far away at all. And yet, she can't bring herself to even think about moving. Nina is suspended there for one terrible second before she feels hands on her shoulders. She kicked off the bottom, and Jack hauls her out of the river.
If she had thought that the woods were cold before this, it's nothing to compared to how they seem to determined to suck the heat from her now. She can't feel her body. It's like she's been frozen out of it. Jack's hands are still on her shoulders, and it's tugging her away from the river. She tries to follow its lead, only to stumble and collapse into a pile in the snow. Nina doesn't even register the difference between the snow and the air. Everything is freezing, all of it feels the same. She's vaguely aware as Jack crouches down in front of her.
"Nina? Nina, look at me." It commanded. His voice is nothing like Nina expected, mostly because she didn't think that he had one. "Did he have a car?" Nina blinked at Jack, brain struggling. A car? She didn't need a car, and wasn't Jack blind? He repeated the question twice before it broke through the ice on Nina's thoughts. She gave it the keys for the truck that her victim used to drive them out into the woods.
"Do you know where it is?" Jack asked. Nina nodded, and with some help, stood up. She led the way back into the clearing where she killed the man, following her own steps back. She paused for a moment in the clearing. Jack urged her on, and they continued through the forest. Nina got the feeling that she should be going faster, but it was all that she could do to push through the snow. It was like the forest was determined to steal everything from her, like it wanted her to lay down and stay down.
After a while of trudging, the man's truck appeared. She wasn't sure why it was so far off the road- something about him trying to show her its off roading abilities?- but she was glad she didn't have to walk any farther. She just about collapsed at the sight of it. Jack noticed, and pressed against her slightly before grabbing the keys out of the pocket of the coat, somehow picking the right pocket on the first try. Nina didn't even know what pocket the keys had been in, despite being the one wearing the coat. Even thinking about it made her head ache like Toby had taken his axe to it. She was so sick of being cold, of stumbling over her own damn feet.
Finally, she was back in the truck. She slid into the back seat, because that was the door that Jack had opened. Nina desperately hoped that at least a little bit of heat would have lingered in the car. However, since today had been going so amazingly for her already, it was just as cold as the woods. Any warm had long been lost, thermodynamics stealing it away while she was away. Damn it. It was such a small thing in the grand shit show that this whole day had been, governed completely by logic, but it still felt like she'd been slapped. Before she could complement it any further, though, Jack stepped into the car after her, slamming the door shut after itself.
"Take off your clothes." He demanded, and it was sudden enough that Nina was snapped out of her self-pity. She gaped at the demon. Out of all of the things that she thought that he might say, that was nowhere on the list. It was closer to Mars. She hadn't expected a demon to be interested in something like sex. Well, at least not Jack. It seemed like it was content just eating people not finding pleasure in them. (It would be pretty weird if Nina wanted to fuck a pig or something). Once she got over her shock, though, she was absolutely pissed. Really? It wasn't like she hadn't considered it, but now? In a icy car, after she fell in a river disposing of a body? It didn't even have the decency to be nice about it. If he thought that she was just going to roll over like some well trained dog, he had another thing coming. Killing that asshole had done nothing to relive how shit Nina's day had been, and she had a half dozen knives on her.
"What." She growled, reaching for one she kept tucked at her hip, just covered by her hoodie. Jack tilted its head. She'd managed to startle it, somehow. "What? You want me to take my clothes off?" Jack shifted, making himself smaller and holding up his hands.
"Your clothes are wet. You have hypothermia. Keeping them on will make it worse. I will turn on the heat in the car, but clothes come first. then I will look for blankets." It explained softly. Nothing but pure logic shown through. Nina glared at him. It was right, but that didn't mean that she had to like it. He seemed to notice this, and added, with the closest thing to humor that she'd heard from it. "Eyeless Jack, remember?" She huffed something that was too tired to be a laugh, and let it crawl past into the front seat.
She shucked off the clothes as fast as she could, regretting, not for the first time that evening, her decision of tight clothing. It was a pain to peel away from her skin even when she had full control of her fingers, without being soaked to the bone and utterly exhausted. By the time that she was down to her underwear, Jack had gotten the heating on, filling the car up with the gentle sound of fans working. Already, she had stopped shivering. She tried to kick the pile of wet clothes farther under the seat in front of her, but hit a box that had been tucked under it.
Nina pulled it out, and of course he had a cold weather survival kit. She couldn't even be incredulous at how she'd managed to kill a walking stereotype because she was too busy pulling out the blankets. Jack handed her a towel he'd found in the front, and she dried her hair while he climbed into the backseat again. Nina patted down her hair with the towel, though it wasn't much use, considering that it was half frozen already. She wrinkled her nose at the smell of the towel- it had probably been left in the truck the last time it was cleaned.
She could always take a shower later. Jack shrugged off its hoodie, and offered it to her. She immediately shrugged it on. Should she be embarrassed about wearing someone else's clothes, especially when the person in question was a demon she barely knew? Maybe. On the other hand, she was sitting bare naked in a truck that was far from being warm enough. She couldn't care less. The hoodie was thicker then it looked, and if it had hung loosely on Jack, it absolutely swallowed her. She wrapped up in the blanket afterward, tucking her legs under her. Nina was still freezing her ass off.
"You need to warm up slowly." Jack offered. She blinked in surprise. It was still a shock that it could even speak at all. She nodded, but didn't say anything further. He took this as permission to continue. "If you warm up too fast, you could go into cardiac arrest. We'll focus on warming up your core."
"You know a surprising amount about this stuff." Nina said softly. Although, it wasn't as bad as it could've been, thanks to Jack knowing exactly what to do. And that was strange. Apparently, he hadn't always been a demon, but Nina, herself, didn't know hypothermia first aid. She hadn't even been able to recognize the symptoms. She really was lucky that it had been there... Bu why in the world would a demon know about hypothermia first aid? Jack hummed in response, filling the silence before he finally spoke again.
"I wanted to be a doctor." Nina shuffled herself to face Jack more fully. She took in the unnaturally long limbs, the baggy sweater, the blue mask and the black tear streaks. It hadn't always been this way?
"You were..." She trailed off. Saying something like that aloud, to his face nonetheless, felt offensive on a level she couldn't even describe.
"I was. I had just finished my last set of finals, actually. And I was going to celebrate, when..." It reached up to touch its mask, the sticky stream of tears running down its face. Nina had lost any chance at a normal life in her pursuit of Jeff. But she still had her own body, a physical tether to her humanity, no matter how monstrous she was underneath. Jack didn't even have that. It had also been her choice, and hers alone. She got the feeling that Jack hadn't made a choice.
"I'm sorry that happened." Nina wasn't good at feelings, as a rule, but she did her best to be sincere. Jack shrugged.
"I've made my peace with it." That level of bitterness suggested otherwise. She let it go, though. There really wasn't any reason to push. She barely knew him, even if he had been kind enough to save her from freezing to death. She didn't know how he would react to being pushed. Nina curled tightener into herself. She'd started shivering again, even though it was objectively much warmer then when she had gotten in the car. "You got too cold for your body's heat regulation system to work properly. Shivering is a good sign." Jack filled in.
"How did you know that?" She asked. It tilted its head at her, conveying confusion without words. She hummed for a moment, stalling. "You knew that I was shivering. But you don't have eyes?"
"I can hear the way your skin brushes against your clothes. It's very quiet; I wouldn't be able to normally. I can also tell your blood pressure and your heart rate." Nina stared at it for a while. She thought that there was nothing left to surprise her- Jack was far from only her only encounter with the supernatural- and yet. "It helps me get around, even if it's not a replacement for sight." Nina hummed in response. God, she was tired, though she was still way too cold to fall asleep.
"How much longer is this gonna take?" She complained, tossing her head against the car seat. It wasn't like she could stay here forever. Jack shrugged in response, and Nina sighed again. There wasn't a sigh in the world that could make this suck less. She was going to get bored with nothing to do... and Jack was right there, and being talkative. She'd already pushed her luck so much, she might as well keep going. "You were way less messy when you were taking that guy's organs then I thought you would be."
"I want to specialize in surgery, and I obsessed over making my surgeries as technically perfect as they could get. Steady hands and clean cuts. Between that and the knowledge of anatomy..." Jack trailed off with a sigh. "It's been helpful." That was a strange way to put it. If Nina didn't know better, she'd say it was almost regretful. Except, knowing better only applied to her, and she certainly wouldn't pull someone she barely knew out of a freezing river.
"Do you regret your kills?" She asked. Almost immediately afterward she slapped a hand over her mouth. That was probably like, the most offensive thing she could've said at the moment. Jack, as much as it could, stared at her. Oh, she'd probably just royally fucked up. She stared at him, frozen in more ways then one. It sighed, and looked away from her.
"...To some degree, I suppose I do." He said finally, the bitterness from before in full force. "I'm not doing it for fun; I need to eat. My kills are simply a part of a cycle that is greater then any of us, that has been going for ages, that will continue. But if I had the choice? ...I wouldn't kill them. All I ever wanted to do was- was to help. There have been so many innovations, Nina, that help humans live. We've done terrible, destructive things, as a species and as individuals, and yet we've put so much effort into making sure people we don't know survive."
Nina didn't comment on his use of we. Jack was more human then she would ever be. Despite all of the terrible things she could imply happened, it still believed in humanity. The conviction in his voice made her insides burn with shame, thinking of the owner of the truck, his body pieces floating somewhere far away. She didn't regret her kills, not when there was so much scum in the world, but it wasn't like she tried particularly hard to make sure she was hurting bad people. She cleared her throat.
"Y'know, if you're around, you can always take what you need from my kills." She offered, instead of thinking on Jack's words any further. That was a spiral for a late night in the far future, hopefully never. the conviction that it said them, especially to her, was... She shook her head slightly, refocusing on Jack instead. It might've been her imagination, but she could swear that he was smiling under his mask.
"I'll take you up on that."
They moved on to lighter topics after that, trading stories from their days on the run. Neither brought up anything from Before. It wasn't the right time, and maybe it would never be. It was okay. They were here, in the moment. Occasionally, Nina had to re-dry her hair as the ice in it melted, which got annoying, to the other she gave up and wrapped her hair up. Eventually, Jack determined that her temperature was high enough that she wasn't in any danger of heart failure, and he left. It almost forgot its hoodie, but Nina remembered at the last moment to give it back. He paused for a moment.
"You can't just leave in a blanket, and your clothes aren't dry enough to wear..." Jack mused as it slipped the hoodie over its head. Nina almost protested, since she was in a heated vehicle and all. Before she could, though, Jack wriggled the sweater he was wearing from under the hoodie and handed it to her. She hesitated only a moment before putting it on herself, and she was immediately glad that she did. It was so much colder without the hoodie.
"Wait, won't you want this back?" She called from out of the driver's window. Jack shrugged.
"Give it back the next time we meet." With that, it disappeared back into the forest, as quickly and as thoroughly as if it had never been there at all. Nina smiled to herself. Next time? She was looking forward to it.

Ch. 7 Past Implications
“So Jack sent you to me to get this… Decrypted?” Ben asked, the flash drive seeming to float in his hand as he looked at it. You were still catching your breath from that ordeal, glaring at Ben for almost killing you before you nodded slowly. “Yes. It might have something to do with this.” You said holding your wrist up to the three, the bandages soaked from the lake.
“Gross.” Ben replied as he looked at the other two. “Red, Emma look at that, no wonder our lake friends snuffed them out so quickly.” He giggled softly as the other two peered over. Holding the soaked voice box, a distorted, raspy voice emanated from the device. “Hey ‘Puddles’ how are you still alive if you’re bleeding?” Emma asked, her words finally having a voice to it. Your ears burned at the nickname. All three of them were unpleasant to talk to at this point but you tried to be polite, you needed their help.
“It’s a long story. I was attacked and whoever owned that flashdrive might know why. Please tell me you can decode it.” You said looking at Ben as he floated closer, the air frigid around him.
“Yeahhhhh I can but do I really want to? I don’t think I do…” Ben teased watching you for a reaction. He was baiting you, you knew it until suddenly that red smiled man spoke up.
“Ben stop fucking around and help them. You had your fun with all of us, now do your part.” He snapped as Ben groaned dramatically, floating away petulantly.
You looked over at the pair again, the man with the smile and the woman with the clock eye. You’ve actually heard their names; Jeff and people called the woman “Clockwork”. You didn’t exactly know why Jeff came to your aid immediately, you had heard rumor he didn’t care about anyone and walked alone. Yet here he was helping you.
Jeff noticed your look and coughed slightly, looking to the side. “What? Ben’s a dick I’m just putting him in his place…” He said as he glanced at Clockwork who nodded at him. “So… You’re the Bleeder that’s been running around here right? The one who killed the Cannibals?” He asked, the question startling you.
Geez was the forest truly that small that someone like him could catch wind of that? It wasn’t exactly your smartest moment. Then again, this wasn’t your smartest moment either. You were beginning to realize you might not be as bright as you think. But before this conclusion could be reached, Clockwork spoke up as well. “You know, since you’ve been making your rounds, things around here have picked up.” She informed you, stepping over to look you over. You looked at the broken clock in her eye. How did she do that to her face? But then you looked closer, you squinted your eyes as you then realized. This wasn’t her real appearance. It was like a glamour or shield; Only if you looked closely you could see the glass eye there instead of the clock. It was unnatural.
“Agents and police appear more, Proxies are snatched up, Killers have become even more reckless and disorganized and Supernaturals are more apathetic than usual. Why?” Clockwork asked as she gripped your wrist holding it up. You winced as she dug her nails in, ripping the soaked bandage off to look at the cut. Still bleeding… Not stopping. The lake water didn’t even wash it away, the blood stained your skin like wine on fabric. “What are you?” She asked, looking at you.
The question seemed dumb because who asks that? You were human, clearly. But you knew being sarcastic might bite you in the ass again. Realistically since you’ve been attacked you haven’t felt the same. The normal and mundane you used to know blew out the window, leaving you at this new place where you were you but… Not. If it made sense.
“I don’t know.” You answered, shrugging slightly. “I hope whatever’s in that flash drive will tell me.” You added hoping that’d assuage her curiosity. It seemed to work as she let go, brushing her brown hair from her eyes. “I hope so too. Things aren’t supposed to be like this.” She said quietly, going back to Jeff who had his arms crossed in thought.
“Yeah, usually we can kill and abscond but since these agents popped up, it’s like we’ve been having to be careful.” He said snorting at the premise. “It’s stupid as shit this small town has like what? Two hundred fifty people and we have to hide around?” He asked, irritation in his tone.
“It’s stupid. If you can truly figure out what’s going on, do it. I don’t like this and I don’t want us to have to move again.” Clockwork said before grabbing Jeff’s white hood making him gasp slightly. “Come on, let’s go check on Helen.” She said, dragging him away as you watched them go. It felt weird again knowing they heard about you.
But you didn’t give it thought. It had been a while but you decided to head home. As you walked you fixed a new bandage on your wrist thinking of your childhood. Your earliest memories were… Walls. Your mother telling you to never leave the house. She would keep the doors locked, windows closed, hiding you from the world. You never questioned it. That was your reality; You didn’t realize its implications then.
Looking back you chalked it up to her being agoraphobic but maybe she was more aware of the world than you were. Even now, others were affected by something but you haven’t felt anything like that lately, not since you were attacked.
Your thoughts were interrupted as you suddenly looked down at the doorstep of your home. Two letters stood out, one with a black moon seal and the other with that symbol carved in the trees. Looks like you’ve been summoned.
