The first part of the series consists of 27 chapters, each with a letter from Bernie to Serena as well as the situation Serena reads it in. I'm slowly making my way through the fic one chapter at a time much like Serena makes her way through the letters, and I'm enjoying it immensely! It's really sweet, hopeful and emotional.

This fic made me cry so much, it's a brilliant mix of shippy feels and current real world issues in politics and human rights, and how these characters from the 40s might react to them. I still haven't finished reading it because it's the kind of fic where I just have to stop from time to time to be able to breathe again, but I very much mean that as a compliment!

Similar to Gros Michel in that both fics are about trauma recovery and getting used to the, 21st century, this fic is more Bucky centric and I really love the outsider POV and all of the original characters! Reading it really made me wish for more fics where Bucky just goes off and lives in a random apartment building away from superheroes and villains and everything that comes with that.

I enjoyed this fic so much, I printed it out to keep as a shelf trophy (which is saying something, I've only done this to one other fic apart from fics I wrote myself). The story beautifully combines a murder case with the developing relationship between Hastings and Poirot, and feels very believable for the time period it is set in.

When I started reading this story, I was just instantly hooked. The OC is so likeable and her struggles as she finds herself in the twilight universe as well as her backstory as we learn more about her are super interesting to read. The fic also changed twilight canon vampire worldbuilding and the backstories for some of the canon, for the better in my opinion! I'm probably going to make a podfic of this soon - lmk if you're interested in listening to it once I start posting!

I can't believe it's been less than a year since I've first read this! It's so good - the worldbuilding, the story, the characters, all of it! I like the AWAU world much better than canon, it's its own Witcher world, canon-divergent at max divergent, and it just makes much more sense!
I actually made a moodboard for it here, and wrote a summary of the first parts so I can check what happened when the series updates! And I've recently joined the discord server for the series, which is very fun ;)

Quietly hurrying into the hallway, the only convenient door Phryne spots is the one to the coat closet. Well, in the current weather, it's unlikely that the homeowner will open it.
"Come on!" She hisses at Jack, who is rather reluctant to follow. "You're not supposed to be here either, now are you?"
Finally secure in the closed closet, Phryne breathes out a quiet sigh of relief... and carefully reached up to wipe the sweat from her forehead. Oh, what a sweltering hot day!
It seems they haven't hidden a minute too soon, as seconds later the clacking footsteps of the potential murderess sound in the hallway. A door opens, closes. Next to Phryne, Jack shifts, about to say something - when the door opens again and the woman walks back through the hallway.
This time, they are more hesitant to move once she is gone, not quite trusting the quiet just yet. Still, they won't be able to hide in there forever, and not only because they might get caught...
Usually, Phryne would delight in any opportunity to get close and personal to the detective inspector - but right now it's simply too bloody hot! Her elbow is touching his side, and that point of contact is already scorching, and sadly not because of any erotic sensations but rather solely because she'd like to jump into the sea to cool down her poor overheating body right about now!
"Jack," Phryne hisses. "Jack!"
"I'm sorry?" Jack looks up from where he had been staring at the small line of light between the closet doors as if entranced.
Phryne huffs. "Has the heat affected you this much? What's the plan?"
"Right. The heat." Jack clears his throat, tries to inch away from Phryne but only makes their arms touch instead.
Phryne smirks. "Well, I know the temperature isn't improving this situation, but I can't say I'm entirely unaffected from being in these close quarters with you, inspector..."
"Miss Fisher!"
Beaming, Phryne leans more heavily against Jack's side for a moment, even though the warmth really is stifling.
She pulls away before Jack can admonish her again. "So, my dear inspector, what do you say we make our way towards the front door, and if we get caught on the way we can say that we have just arrived and are just parched, if she could spare us a glass of water..."
"If they have heard anything about you, they would definitely believe that you are brazen enough to walk into a complete stranger's house to ask for a drink, and without even knocking," Jack sighs. "So I suppose that might as well work."
"Jack! It's a heatwave, we're just asking for water, not raiding the liquor cabinet! And -" a noise somewhere in the house, and Phryne instinctive lowers her voice to a whisper - "and of course we knocked first, but when no-one answered... You see, we were quite desperate for some refreshments, can't you tell by the state of us?"
After a moment's hesitation, Jack nods. "Alright. What are we waiting for?"

Haven't gotten around to figure out how to watch them though, maybe this is what will push me to get a blue ray player xD) and wrote a bunch from Parker's POV which is why she's here and not Sophie though I at first couldn't decide which of them I'd add, I've been watching Agatha Christie's Poirot a lot and made a bunch of fanworks and a collab with @septemberbells, and printed my fav fic (not mine, The Real Captain Hastings by Sue The Android) to have a book shelf trophy xD, and Yoko Tsuno is still my fav comic, I (re)read so many of them and made new fandom friends / reconnected with old ones over this @oediex @kaorimaxwell-blog <3
Now that I'm thinking about it more, Around The World In 80 Days Phileas Fogg is missing along with Benoit Blanc, I forgor about my Old Men!
