In a breath, he spoke her name. To any beyond the pairing, to mistake the word for a religious oath or the title of a sacred text would be simple, expected even.

He spoke with reverence. Speaking of the goddess he knew her to be, not quite the woman she was.

Eris - The Chaos Spreader

In Greek mythology, the winged goddess of discord, chaos and disorder. She had two manifestations: a dangerous and a benign one: Destructive Discord, causing wars, and Creative Discord, which was the spirit of competition and stimulated urgent action. It made carpenters envy carpenters, made every artist envy another, and yet love his own work. Eris arrived uninvited at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis and by throwing an apple with the inscription "For the Most Beautiful One" among the goddesses, she indirectly provoked the Trojan War, because it caused a dispute between Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, which was decided by Paris, who chose Aphrodite.
