Love You Teacher follows Pobmek, an elementary school teacher who doesn’t particularly like kids, but deeply loves his boyfriend and fellow teacher, Solar. Their lives are upended when an accident leaves Solar mentally and emotionally regressed to a seven-year-old child. Suddenly thrust into the role of caregiver for his partner, Pobmek must navigate grief, exhaustion, love, and responsibility while struggling to hold onto the relationship they once shared.
First... yay for an established, long term, healthy queer relationship between two people that love each other deeply!!! This is not a simple love story, it is a story about love. This was a tricky story to tell, but they nailed it! It handled heavy topics like mental health, caregiver burnout, chronic illness and depression with a great deal of respect and care that felt very thought out. The messages around love, support, friendship and community were beautiful and healing. If you're worried about the age regression being icky, don't be. In our opinion as protective mama bears, it was handled really well.
To say we loved this series is a huge understatement. It blew us away. The script was was expertly done weaving together so many different elements to deliver a rich story. Combined with the directing, stunning shots, and vibrant costumes, this series shined at every point. Both Santa and Perth delivered acting that was brutally excellent. Every episode was PAIN. Every.single.damn.one! But no matter how much they hurt us, they left us with a sense of hope at the end of each one. Plus there were plenty of cute and LOL moments to make us smile. This series was incredibly well done and we HIGHLY recommend watching. Just be mindful of triggers because this series will not be appropriate for all audiences.
Tears: Bucket and buckets. Every episode gave us BIG crushingly heavy feels! Bring tissues and hydrate well!!!!
Romance Scenes: this is a long established couple and sex is clearly part of their relationship
Flavor of Scenes: these two definitely gave us a little more flavor
Heads up: toxic family, suicide, depression, abandonment, child abuse, parent death
