Take It, It’s Yours
A new series. A new story. Let’s do this <3
She should be asleep by now.
She shouldn’t have been switching between staring at her phone and the ceiling.
She shouldn’t have been tossing and turning in bed at two AM. because she couldn’t decide whether or not to call her best friend.
It would have soon been three AM. She had class at nine on top of no sleep, all because she was stalling.
After what seemed like a losing battle between common sense and anxiety, she sighed, grabbing her phone, and decided to call them while running her fingers through blue locks long enough to cascade down her back.
Scrolling through her contacts, the bluenette bit the inside of her cheek as she pressed ‘call’ on the only one who could help her.
“Please don’t pick-up…” she whined, rolling onto her stomach.
Despite the time, he was wide awake with his game on mute and controller in hand. Every so often, he turned to check on the lump on his bed, taking off his headphones to make sure he wasn’t making too much noise, then went back to what he was doing. That night was one of the few nights the long haired brunet cared less about sleep. Was his morning class at eight? Yes, yes it was. Did he solve all his problems with dirty bean water? Yes, yes he did.
He didn’t care too much, seeing as he had a good reason.
Resuming his race, the boy jumped when he heard his ringtone “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira blare in his ears. Thankfully he paused the game in his panic, but briefly wondered who could have been calling him so early..
It wasn’t until he saw the call that his smile returned. He answered, pulling the mic on his headset down and spoke quietly.
“Yo, Evie, the Queen of my life, what’s poppin’?”
His smile turned into a beam, hearing her groan on the other end. Knowing he was once again responsible for the bluenette cringing brought him joy.
“Never talk to me like that again, Jay.”
He snickered then quickly covered his mouth to check on the lump again.
“Sorry, sorry, wait.”
He couldn’t see her fully, purple hair stuck out from under a covered head. The lump shifted, turning over to bury a face into the fluffiest part of his pillow and hummed before settling back down. Jay then turned back to make sure his game was still muted before responding to Evie.
“What’s up? It’s not like you to be up past ten on a school night.”
“I know, but I have a lot on my mind.”
“Awww, so you come to your one and only?”
Silence. Then a deep inhale followed by, “I should’ve gone to Carlos or Uma.”
Jay bit the inside of his bottom lip to stop himself from bursting into laughter, his chest constricted almost painfully in his attempt.
“Okay, okay, I’ll stop, What’s on your mind, princess?”
Jay went back to his game half listening to Evie and half zoning out to beat a level he had been struggling with for a while. But it was only for a moment before a familiar name caught his attention. The brunet let himself crash into a virtual wall, hurrying to disconnect his headphones and pressed his phone to his ear.
“Wait wait wait…who?”
Evie hesitated before repeating what she said.
“I…I’ve been crushing on the new girl, you know Mal? I thought it would blow over, but it’s been months now and every time we talk or she hangs out with us or anything really, I—I get this urge to hold her hand. I want to kiss her, I—you know sometimes when we’re together, I swear she looks at me like I’m something special to her...”
Jay listened, stunned. He turned back around to look at the very girl Evie was talking about. Not wanting to wake her, knowing how loud he could be, the brunet tiptoed down the set of stairs to stand in his backyard.
Now in the clear, he gave his full attention to Evie.
“So…what are you gonna do about it?”
“W-Well I was thinking of telling her.” When she paused he focused on the stars that peeked out from the clouds to give her a moment. The bluenette sighed again, her voice deflated. “I just want her to reject me already so I can move on with my life...”
Her voice was solemn, devoid of any excitement he hoped she would have had towards his favourite cousin, though he would never admit it to Uma.
“That’s possibly the saddest thing that’s ever come out of your mouth.”
Evie didn’t respond, plopping back down from her previous upright position.
“What was that?”
“The sound of my soul leaving my body.”
This time, Jay snorted, enticing a giggle out of his blue haired friend. He leaned his head back, resting on the cracked door.
“Tell me, what makes you think she wouldn’t give you a chance?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe the amount of times I’ve witnessed her dodge people’s advances or even the numerous times she turned people away whenever they confessed,” she rebutted.
Jay clicked his tongue, listening to the bluenette go on and on, stating facts that even he couldn’t have denied. It wasn’t often the purplette would have sat and listened to someone when romance was involved.
“I think you should give it a shot, Eves.”
“You’re hilarious.”
“I’m serious! Mal likes having you around.” Another pause settled between them before Evie inquired about how he could possibly have known that.
“She’s my half-sister…wait, you didn’t know?!”
The bluenette’s muffled scream told him all that he needed to know. He rubbed his face, amused by his best friend.
“I won’t say anything, I promise.”

a quote from my upcoming novel (this was modified from an original quote)
Introduction
I’ve been so worried about what to say in my intro that I still haven’t done it after nearly three months so I’m just going to smush my perfectionism down and finally say something!
My name is Anna and I’m 25. I’m a Leo and a Slytherin and my passions (aside from writing) are fashion, cooking, and the Real Housewives (I mean can you blame me tho). I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember but with a few breaks and am just now getting back into it after a hiatus. I have a few WIPs whose working titles are just keywords to help me remember which is which (am I killing this writing thing or what). Here’s a list: - Dust: post-apocolyptic-esque story of a girl who runs away from home to move across the country and ends up tangled up in some drama and turf wars in the desert - Magic: modern-day urban fantasy about a girl who inadvertently falls in with a witch and a warlock and realizes she’s less normal than she thought - Blue: a disease is ravaging a country and a group of friends set up a haven for victims - and one victim in particular throws them all for a loop - Lost: medieval-esque fantasy about a kingdom whose princess disappears and the girl they take to be her secret replacement - Cream: the age-old story of a girl who works her way up to high society - and then falls hard
I know these are so vague and definitely not at all the type of blurbs to make you want to pick up a book and read it, but there’s a lot more to them - and I'm going to share all of that with y’all soon!

“Her mouth moved but Alexi couldn’t hear anything over the sound of his blood pumping in his ears. Thea’s eyes glowed with a terrifying delight, and she pulled him closer, until they were almost nose to nose.
“She wants to know if you believe her now, or if she will have to do something more to prove herself.”
“Put him down!” the agents shrieked, though their intimidating factor had disappeared. “Now!”
A deep laugh echoed from Thea’s throat, and Alexi felt fear grip him tighter than the invisible forcefield that held him in the air. His feet slowly lowered to the floor, but she never loosened her hold on him. Stepping closer, she trailed her fingers lightly down his cheek and across his lips, sending a shiver down his spine that had nothing to with the pleasure one would imagine.”
Snippet
A slow dawn back into the world brought with it the primal need for water, a gasp catching in dry, harsh airways. Heavily lashed eyes open under winged brows set in discomfort and confusion, open but are blind to this realm for a few heartbeats more. The soft light of morning clears away the darkness, the smooth, grey walls of the cave snap into focus too abruptly, mind taking a stutterstep into the now. Morning? Water. Tongue feeling over large and foreign, snakes out over a full, cracked bottom lip, the dried blood only adding to the rough texture, taste not even registering.
All at once full awareness shrieks itself into joints and muscles left too long unused, eliciting another raspy breath. Strong, even teeth bite down, reopening split, tender skin though no blood seeps into the world, perhaps none remains to spare. The feeling of countless stinging barbs pierce every inch of flesh, seemingly to the bone, as blood sluggishly returns to limbs. Hearing the sound of some wounded beast gives pause before the realization that the sound eminates from herself. Brittle charcoal from a long dead fire crumbles under palms, splintering under knees, agony contorts the usually lithe, even sensuous, body into a shaking and stiffened atrocity. Feeling like wet leathers left to dry into frozen disarray, determination flares in the depths of darkest blue now fully aware of just how close to catastrophe was tred.
