🪐 Seungcheol
It’s not like you meant to hide it. Really! It just.. slipped from your mind. In your defense, you thought your brother had told him. But when you found out that he hadn’t, you just thought it wasn’t a big enough deal.
Yeah.. that’s coming back to bite you. Literally at this very second. Because you’re currently peering over your brother’s shoulders at your boyfriend. Doesn’t sound too bad right? Oh, but it is.
From the perspective of your boyfriend, he’s standing at his girlfriend’s front door, staring at his best friend. Finally, Seungcheol finds the courage to ask what Seojoon is doing here.
In response, Seojoon calmly says, “Can’t a brother visit his sister?” You swear that Seungcheol’s eyebrows raise up so high that they almost touch his hairline. Later, Seungcheol would deny this, but they for sure got really close to touching.
When Seungcheol catches your stare, you give him an apologetic smile back. Alongside that, you mouthed, “I’m sorry.” At that very moment, the door to your neighbor’s apartment opens. Before the older woman who lives across the hall from you is able to step out, you quickly reach around your older brother and pull your boyfriend inside.
Without saying anything, you slink into the living room, waving for the guys to follow. After sharing a puzzled look, they both follow you. “We have to be quiet,” you start off by whispering. “My neighbor is so nosy. She has a gossip club that comes over every week. I swear, even checking my mail means that I’m sneaking off to meet a secret lover or something.” Realizing how that that could sound you hurriedly add on, “I’m not, obviously! She just always finds something to talk about.”
Seojoon lets out a solemn, “Ah okay. Well,” he turns to Seungcheeol. “Why are you so shocked to see me at my sister’s place?” You nudge him in the back. “Ouch! What was that for? Do you see how she treats me?” Despite the situation, Seungcheol finds himself laughing.
“Sorry that I’m shocked to figure out that my girlfriend is related to my best friend! And that no one thought to tell me,” your boyfriend replies as he rolls his eyes. Before your brother is able to say anything else, you’re quick to slap your hand over his mouth. There’s no telling what he'd say.
With your other hand, you reach out towards the man standing in front of you. “I’m sorry, Cheol. I swear, we didn’t mean to hide it. I thought he told you. By the time I realized he hadn’t, I just didn’t know how to bring it up.” Sincerity graces your face, along with a pinch in worry in your eyes.
Luckily for you, Seungcheol isn’t actually upset. “It’s fine, I guess. Just going to take some time to get used to it.” You feel a hand reach up to move your own hand off of Seojoon’s mouth.
“Besides, you can't be mad at me for too long anyway, can you?” Seojoon asks, grinning over at your boyfriend. “Hey, he's my boyfriend, not yours. What are you even talking about?” You question, crossing your arms.
“I've known him longer!”
“That doesn't matter!”
Seungcheol sighs as he watches you and Seojoon chase each other around. “I already miss not knowing.”
🪐 Jeonghan
Growing up, you were never close with your brother. Despite just a two year age difference, you guys never had anything in common. That distance between the two of you just grew as you got older, especially in university. There are no hard feelings, it’s just that you, simply, don’t interact much.
As soon as you entered university, Yunseo made it very clear to you that he did not want you in the same circles as him. Hence why you are reluctant to tell your boyfriend who your brother is or even hang out with him in public.
But you love having him over at your apartment. There are less people around who can potentially report back to your brother. Having the same friends as him is one thing. Dating them is a whole different story. And if you add in the fact that Jeonghan is Yunseo’s best friend? Yeah, that would be a disaster.
It’s comfortable. Domestic, even. You’re sitting in your cozy chair, reading a new book that was a gift from your boyfriend. Meanwhile, Jeonghan is sprawled out on the coach, scrolling through his phone. “Look at how cool this place is,” Jeonghan flips his phone around. On the screen is a website of an arcade that recently opened up. “We should go.” He pulls out his best smile and pleading eyes. “It would be really nice.”
Unable to control the fond look that appears on your face, you find yourself smiling and nodding. The anxiety of worrying about getting caught quickly melts away when you see Jeonghan’s eyes light up. “Can we go now? It’s not far from here.” He does some more typing to pull up the address of the arcade. Once you agree, it all goes downhill from there.
The first thirty or so minutes at the arcade are fun and energetic. Actually, it’s the most fun that you’ve had in a long time. Just as Jeonghan is showing you a cat plushie that he won from a claw machine, something over his shoulder catches your attention. That something completely wipes the wide smile off of your face. Furrowing his eyebrows at your sudden change in demeanor, Jeonghan glances over his own shoulder. “Yunseo! What a surprise!” The yell catches your brother’s attention. Yunseo tilts his head to the side, parting his lips in confusion. You watch as he mutters something to the group that he entered with.
“Yeah… What a surprise,” Yunseo walks over to where you’re standing with Jeonghan. His eyes are trained on your connected hands. Almost like it’s involuntary, you feel your fingers start to twitch, as if they’re trying to release themselves from the hold. “Are you on a date with my sister?”
If he’s shocked, Jeonghan doesn’t show it. Instead, he just nods, his thumb moving in small strokes over the back of your hand. His voice is stable as he says, “I’m out on a date with my girlfriend who just so happens to be your sister.” To outsiders, the situation probably looks like a scene from a comedy show. You with a dropped jaw, staring at your boyfriend; your brother looking between the two of you; and Jeonghan who has a slight smile on his face and a daring glint in his eyes.
“You’re my best friend! And you’re dating my sister?” Yunseo pushes the question out. Jeonghan gives him a small hum and says, “Well, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to go eat.” He pats his (former?) best friend on the shoulder and brushes past him.
Once you’re out of earshot from Yunseo, Jeonghan comments, “What an interesting date.”
🪐 Joshua
The last (or first, depending on how you look at it) five months of your relationship with Joshua have been amazing. He’s the sweetest boyfriend who always actively listens to you and truly loves you. By this time, your relationship is getting more serious.
“I just don’t know why you don’t want me to meet your family,” Joshua wearily comments, the tiredness seeping into his tone. In an attempt to explain, you reply, “It’s not that I don’t want you to meet them! It’s complicated, that’s all.” The awkward tension starts to hit you, making you gather the dishes, seeking to busy yourself.
Joshua follows you with his eyes as you bring the dirty dishes to your sink. “How is it complicated? Will they not like me, is that it?” The clatter of the dishes jerks his head up. You’re now turned back around, staring at him with an unknown look in your eyes. “Quite the opposite, actually,” you softly whisper to yourself. “What was that?” The doorbell interrupts Joshua’s question.
“I’lll get it,” Joshua pushes himself off of the kitchen chair. Without even looking through the peephole, he just swings the door open. “Jaehyun? What are you doing here?” Your brother repeats the inquiry back to his best friend.
“I feel like I should be asking you that. You’re the one who is at my sister’s home,” Jaehyun steps into the entryway of your apartment. “Uh, you want to explain?” Both men turn to look at you, sharing a similar look of confusion.
Wincing, you set down the rag that you were using to dry the dishes. “I don’t think you guys need an introduction. But Jaehyun, Joshua is my boyfriend. And he has been for a few months now. Joshua, Jaehyun is my brother.” Trying to include some humor to the situation, you add, “He has been since I was born.”
“Is that why you didn’t want me to meet your family?” Joshua’s face lights up with realization. Enthusiastically, you nod. “See! I wasn’t worried about whether they would like you or not. I was worried about having to tell you that Jaehyun is my brother.” That results in a small, “Ouch,” from your older brother.
“This is not what I expected today,” Jaehyun sets one of his hands on Joshua’s shoulders. “But welcome to the family.”
🪐 Jun
You love your job. Truly, it’s amazing. You get to see cats every day! What’s better than that? That doesn’t mean that you’re very good at working at the cat cafe, though. Since your brother hired you to work at Darling Cat Cafe last year, you’ve broken a total of twenty dishes.
It’s a miracle that you haven’t been fired yet. It might be because customers love you! But it’s probably because your brother is the owner of said job. Although, he might actually fire you once he learns that you’re dating your coworker, Jun.
You don’t want to keep it a secret from either of them, but Minjae would not approve. He’s always been protective, so you already knew that he would make you break up with Jun. And as for why you haven’t told Jun yet.. You’re just worried that he would look at you differently. You don't want anyone to think that you're only at this job because of your brother. Just because you're not good at carrying the plates doesn't mean that you're not good at the other aspects!
Unfortunately, your secret was about to come out–to both of them.
It started off like a normal Monday. The sound of adults being dragged by their children into the cafe. Other adults that come in while grumbling about how they have a big meeting this week, but they don’t want to go. Oh, and you’re working alongside both your brother and your boyfriend; which isn't too common, but it definitely happens from time to time.
Something that is not normal is you being back on serving duty. After the disastrous mishap three months into your job, Minjae banned you from touching the plates. Which, let’s be real, was probably the smartest decision. But today just happened to be extra busy, so you’re having to pop in and help with the dishes rather than just managing the cat area.
“Hey, can you get the plates off of that table?” Minjae nods his head towards one of the tables in the back of the cafe. Looking up from the chalkboard that you’re currently writing the specials down on, you nod.
Before you even move a singular step, Jun calls over to you as he walks out of the kitchen. “Be careful, I think some of their water spilled on the floor.” Giving him a confident wave, you saunter over to the table.
Perhaps you were too confident, because next thing you know, you’re laying on the floor. Your eyes are staring up at the colorful ceiling before your view is blocked by your boyfriend, who is now kneeling next to you. “I told you to be careful! Are you okay, my love?” His voice is hurried as it comes out several octaves higher than usual.
Minjae stops in his tracks. “What did you just call my sister?” Forgetting how close Jun is to you, you abruptly sit up. “Ow!” Jun’s exclamation is drowned out by you frantically asking, “Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry. Are you okay?” This time, he’s the one waving you off.
“Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. But,” he whips his head over to where Minjae is standing. You follow his line of sight to see your brother standing not far from you guys with his arms crossed. “Did you just call her your sister?” While asking this, Jun offers you his hand to pull you up. Although, he doesn’t let go of your hand once you’re up off of the ground.
With your full attention on your brother, you don’t even register the fact that there is no longer any chatter from the customers. Minjae just scoffs. “That’s not the point here! You just called my sister…” He pauses. “I can’t even say it. The bottom line is, you’re dating my sister? Really?”
You cut in before Jun is able to answer. “Don’t be mad at him. He didn’t know that we’re related. I didn’t tell him, because of this reason! You can’t control who I date. It hasn’t even affected how we work, because we keep it professional here! So I’m sorry if you’re hurt that I didn’t tell you, but I’m not sorry for dating him.” After taking a deep breath to calm yourself down, you turn to look at Jun. “And I’m sorry for not letting you know that Minjae is my brother. I didn’t want you to look at me differently.”
Immediately, Jun shakes his head. “I would never. Yeah, I’m upset, but I’ll get over it.” You hear a shuffle. Minjae has moved closer to where you’re standing to say, “I’m not mad. I just wish you felt like you could’ve told me.”
A cough comes from the other side of the cafe. “This is sweet and all, but can we have our food?”
🪐 Soonyoung
When you met Soonyoung, it was purely by accident. It was a late Friday night, and you were desperate to finish your paper as it was due that Saturday.
Waiting to complete it the day before it was due was probably not the smartest choice, especially trying to do it on a Friday. But you were determined, so you set out to the library.
Quickly, almost as if it was muscle memory, you walked to the study room that you always use. All of them are the same, but that one, for some reason, gives you a sense of peace that allows you to focus. And it's almost never occupied.
That Friday, though, a familiar man was sitting in a chair inside of that very study room. The creaky door let out a groan, but the man didn't stir from his spot. He continued to bob his head as he typed something on his computer. Looking closer, you realized he was wearing headphones.
So you stepped closer to the table, but it wasn't until you were standing behind the chair that was in front of him that he looked up. You took in a sharp inhale for two reasons. 1). The man was gorgeous. 2). You knew him.
Why wouldn't you know your brother’s best friend? Kyungmin loves to rave about the new adventures that they go on; so much so that you honestly felt like you knew the guy.
You had never met him, though, until that Friday. He didn't kick you out, in fact, a grin immediately appeared on his face. “Oh, hi. Are you coming to study? You can sit there if you want!” He exclaimed with a slight nod to the chair that you were near.
Too late to back out now. You dropped your bag on the floor and got settled into the seat. All you have to do is write a few more paragraphs then you'll be- “I'm Soonyoung. Who are you?” He questioned, leaning forward with curiosity shining on his face.
Oh. So he didn't know you. There's a strange feeling in your chest, as though you don't know how to feel. Still, you replied with your name.
As the night went on, Soonyoung continued to unload questions onto you while adding his own answers, too. Gradually, you started to open up more. It was going well until a certain slip up.
“Yeah, my brother Kyungmin-” you stopped short. Soonyoung didn't seem to notice as he said, “Kyungmin? My best friend is named Kyungmin. Interesting. Must be a common name.”
That was your chance to confess. “Your Kyungmin is actually my brother Kyungmin,” you rushed to say.
Soonyoung didn't seem at all phased. “That's so cool. I wonder why he didn't mention you?” He glanced towards the clock. “It's getting late. Why don't I walk you back? We can talk more!”
That wasn't so bad.
🪐 Wonwoo
The first day that you receive a sticky note on your desk, you don’t find it weird. After all, the message is harmless enough: Have a good day! Assuming that it’s just a sweet message from a work friend, you carefully lay it in one of your drawers.
The next day, there’s another note. This time it reads: You’re doing great! A feeling sets over you. Because you know that handwriting. It’s Jeon Wonwoo’s, and he is your brother’s best friend. Oh, and he’s your work crush. A gasp slips past your mouth before you’re able to stifle it. You murmur an apology to the coworker to your right when she looks up from her papers.
Quickly, you pick up the note and march your way across the room to where Wonwoo’s desk is. “Jeon Wonwoo! What is this?” You go to slam the note on his desk, but then you remember that you are at work. Instead, you drop the note directly on his keyboard.
Over the top of his glass, Wonwoo looks at you, the corner of his mouth lifting. “It looks like someone has a secret admirer,” he addressed. “Seems like you’re popular.” You purse your lips and tilt your head.
“Wonwoo, I know they’re from you.” Your seriousness translates over to your coworker. His smile falters as he says, “I’m sorry if you’re uncomfortable. I just thought they would be cute.” He picks up the note to fiddle with it instead of making eye contact with you.
“They are cute. That’s the problem,” Your voice comes out strained, as if you don’t want to admit that you actually do enjoy the notes. His eyes snap back up. “What do you mean? How is it a problem? Besides us having to tell our bosses if we, you know, do decide to get together.” Your silence makes him believe that you’re just pondering over his words. Instead, you’re choosing how to tell him the fact that your brother is his best friend.
Closing your eyes and clasping your hands in front of you, you ask, “You know Hyunwoo?” At his nod, you continue. “He’s my brother.” Wonwoo takes a moment to contemplate your words.
“That doesn’t bother me. We can cross that bridge when we get to it,” he casually replies. He watches as you furiously blink like you can’t believe what he said. “So, how about a date?”
🪐 Jihoon
This is the worst day ever for Jihoon. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but in his mind, it’s true. First, he spilled his coffee everywhere as he was trying to leave his apartment. And that is not an exaggeration. It quite literally got on all of his papers that were filled with song ideas. Luckily, he had them back up on his computer.
But shortly after, while he was heading to lunch, he was cornered by not one, not two, but three of his bandmates. He’s used to their antics by now. What he’s not used to is the words that come out of their mouths next.
“You’re going on a date,” Soonyoung had said. The finality in his voice honestly made Jihoon question himself for a moment. Am I? After a split second of this thought, he shook his head. Both in response to his own mind and his best friend’s announcement.
The producer snorted, “Yeah right.” He tried to walk by them, but he was quickly stopped. In sync, the members–Seokmin, Soonyoung, and Seungkwan–moved to block him. Again, at once, his members replied, “Yes, you are.”
Like it was an afterthought, Seungkwan added, “You are going on a blind date.” This had to be a dream. Right? “We’ll send you the address. Go get ready!” With that, they started to walk off.
“Wait, what? You can’t just say that and leave! Who even is it with?” Jihoon managed to sputter out. Out of all of the things his friends have said to him, that had to be one of the weirdest ones.
Looking back on it, they have been making some small comments here and there about how he’s practically “married to his work” and “needs to go out more.” He didn’t think they would actually go as far as to set up a blind date.
Of course, his question towards his friends didn’t result in the answer he wanted to hear. Instead, Seokmin had shouted, without even looking over his shoulder, “That’s not how blind dates work!”
Which brings us to where Jihoon is now. Currently, he’s standing outside of the restaurant that Seungkwan messaged him the location to. “I can’t believe I’m about to do this,” he mumbles to himself, pulling his mask up higher. His phone lights up again in his hand, drawing his attention down.
Seungkwan
She’ll be sitting in the back corner, near the employees only area.
Be nice, have fun!
Jihoon’s shoulders drop once he realizes that he’s actually going to have to go on this date. A cough comes from his left and he jerks his head to the side to see an older couple staring at him. “We’re trying to get inside the restaurant,” the woman nods her head towards the front door.
After stuttering an apology while bowing, he moves to open the door for them. “Here I go,” he whispers, following in after the couple. He spots you quickly. His first impression is not the most romantic one, to say the least. She reminds me of Hajoon, Jihoon thinks to himself. You never want to compare your date to your best friend.
He walks to the empty chair that is in front of you instead of going behind you, so he doesn’t startle you. “Hi, I’m Jihoon,” he says, lowering his mask after doing a sweep of the area. Offering your hand, you tell him your name. “Nice to meet you. And you don’t have to worry about being recognized here. There is a strict no photography rule, so idols can feel more comfortable,” you inform him.
Jihoon’s mouth forms an ‘o’ shape. “You know who I am?” You nod, “Yeah, my brother is friends with a few of your members.”
“Who's your brother?” He genuinely asks. It's interesting actually. But you don't think so. He watches your eyes bounce around before settling back on him. “Minho, he's a choreographer.”
“Wait, you're Minho’s sister?” Jihoon leans forward over the table. Almost shyly, you confirm it.
“But I don't want that to change anything! Today, I'm not just his sister. I'm also your date,” your head is somewhat bowed while you say this.
That touches him, because he feels similarly. Not about who he's related to, but because he has two parts of himself: idol Jihoon and the person Jihoon. So he wordlessly agrees. “So what do you do for work?” He questions. He's willing to move on if you are.
🪐 Seokmin
Seokmin sees you around the company often. Most of the time, you're carrying a bundle of papers and rushing towards your next destination.
Even though he hasn't had a direct conversation with you before, he’s heard you talking to a few of the other members and staff. Every single time your voice reaches his ears, he swears he gets butterflies.
It’s common to see you wandering the halls like how you are right now. Seokmin is supposed to be listening to a new concept idea that Seungkwan is talking about, but his eyes keep drifting back to where you are. Near the end of the hall, you’re talking to one of their staff. You’re not even doing anything, but you keep stealing his attention.
“So yeah I was thinking that we could wear inflatable dinosaur costumes for our new dance video,” Seungkwan casually throws out. He crosses his arms, resting his back against the wall. Mindlessly, Seokmin easily agrees. “Sounds good, let’s do it.”
His member and friend lets out a snort. “Okay, who are you looking at? Because you just agreed to dance in a dino outfit.” Seokmin turns his head so fast that there is an audible pop. He shrugs like he wasn’t just admiring you. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Seungkwan does the next obvious thing which is looking in the direction that Seokmin was just looking in. “Dude, you’re so screwed,” Seungkwan lets out a low whistle. Immediately, Seokmin straightens up. “What are you talking about?”
The whisper from his best friend is hidden by his hand for protective measures. “She’s Minjun’s sister.” It takes everything inside of Seokmin to not release a peep of surprise. Of course the girl he likes would be related to one of their managers. Seungkwan raises his voice, “You should go for it, though.” Without waiting for a response, Seungkwan pushes his friend towards your direction. “Hey!” Seungkwan calls your name. “Seokmin here has something that he wants to ask you!”
Both you and the staff member that you’re with raise your eyebrows in anticipation. The moment your eyes meet his, Seokmin feels like he’s melting into a puddle. How can someone be so pretty? “Can you- I mean, do you- okay how do I ask this? Would you want to hang out?” Seokmin manages to ask, hands gripping the bottom of his shirt.
The anxiety instantly melts away when you reply, “I’d like that.”
🪐 Mingyu
Changmin and Mingyu have been friends for about a year now. While they’re definitely close, they actually haven’t met in person yet. You see, Changmin’s girlfriend works at the company, and she believed that her boyfriend would get along great with Mingyu. So she introduced them–through the phone only. Changmin lives in a different country while saving up money to move.
Recently, Mingyu has been going on dates with you, a girl who he met at a museum. Still wanting to keep the new relationship somewhat secret, but also wanting to be bolder, you agree to meet him at the company before going to your apartment for a movie night.
If you were meant to go to the company just for Mingyu, what were you doing standing face to face with Nari? “Babe?” Mingyu hesitantly chimes out for you, cooling his pace down. If you’re having a conversation, he doesn’t want to interrupt you guys. But you’re looking distraught and Nari is blinking rapidly as if her eyes are deceiving her. Nari whips her head around to look at Mingyu. “What are you doing with my sister?” The tables have turned on Mingyu now as he’s the one with a flabbergasted look now.
“Your sister? You’re related?” Mingyu gasped. Except it’s not Nari who answers, it’s you. “We’re not related, but she’s dating Changmin, who happens to be my brother.”
Nari is still staring at him with her eyes glaring at him and her arms crossed over her chest. “I’ll ask again, why is she waiting here for you? Are you dating?” The woman demands, tapping her foot on the ground. Mingyu can’t help but smile at how protective she is over you.
“I mean. I would like us to be dating,” Mingyu switches his view over to you. “I would really like that too,” your agreement comes.
Nari lets out a groan. “Oh, ew! Am I going to have to deal with you guys being lovey-dovey now?” In response, Mingyu wraps his arm over your shoulder and leans his head on yours. “Get used to it.”
🪐 Minghao
When you first started dating Minghao, you knew it would turn into a long distance relationship. After all, you were set to travel to another country for a few months for work. In your time in person together, you guys made the most of it.
But you had only been dating for two months when you had to leave. Hence why you hadn't met each other's families yet, because you agreed that it was too early. Your families did that you're doing someone, they just didn't know who.
What a coincidence that in your time away, your brother, Yujun, and your boyfriend, Minghao, had met each other and gotten close. Minghao wanted to keep your relationship close to his chest, since he didn't get to talk to you often while you were working.
As for your brother not bringing you up, he's a closed off guy. He always has been. Yujun didn't even tell your family that he got accepted to university until it was time for him to actually go.
It was tough for you to choose whether or not to ask your brother or boyfriend to pick you up from the airport, but you did make a decision eventually. Why not invite both? While it's not the most ideal place for two of the most important people in your life to meet, it’s what you settled on.
Minghao is standing near the exit in the airport when he hears a voice that he knows well. “Minghao? What're you doing here?” Yunjun comes to a stop in front of his best friend.
A smile easily comes on Minghao’s face when he thinks of you. “I'm here to pick up my girlfriend. She's coming back from a work trip.”
“So is my sister! She asked me to come get her,” Yunjun replies. Sister? Minghao voices his internal comment, “You have a sister? What's her name?” The dancer feels his world stop when your name leaves Yunjun’s mouth. He turns his head up to the ceiling, closing his eyes and letting out a small puff of air. “That's my girlfriend's name, too.”
Speaking of you, you were dragging your feet over to the guys. Once you make it to the duo, the only thing that leaves your lips is, “Surprise?”
🪐 Seungkwan
The relationship was almost perfect. Seungkwan was kind, funny, and an all-around great guy. But his job was demanding. His duties began to control your relationship. No matter how much you loved each other, it wasn't the right time for a relationship. So you broke up.
That was around a year ago. One side effect of your relationship was that you weren't allowed to tell people about who you were dating. It wasn't a rule that Seungkwan had. If anything, he wanted to scream from the rooftops about his love for you. But the company didn't allow it.
So your friends and family didn't know. Meaning that your brother didn't know that his new best friend was your ex.
You didn't think too much of it when Jinyoung said that his best friend’s name was Seungkwan. You were just excited to meet your brother's close friend.
“Hey, can you get the door? I think I saw Seungkwan’s car pull up,” Jinyoung calls over to you from his kitchen where he's setting out some food. Giving him a thumbs up, you pull the door open to face your ex??
At the same time, you and Seungkwan both yell each other's names. Jinyoung sets the bowl of fruit down and he runs over to the door. “What happened? Is everything okay?” He demands, whipping his head between you two.
“This cannot be happening right now,” you cross your arms. “What's happening? Can someone just let me know what's going on?” Jinyoung repeats.
You speak up first, “I need to talk to Seungkwan.” Softly, you grab his hand and lead him to the office area. Seungkwan makes sure to shut the door after he enters.
“You're his sister?”
“You're his best friend?”
A moment of awkward silence follows before you both burst out laughing. “What a coincidence. Maybe it's a sign,” Seungkwan coughs out between laughter. Your laughter trails off. “Seungkwan..” but your sentence then trails off, too.
He takes that as his opportunity to say, “I know we broke up for a reason. But I've been working on taking more time off. Focusing just on work wasn't the best thing for me or us. And I would really like to give this relationship another chance. I'm just saying that this could've been a sign.”
You take a moment to digest this information. After a few seconds that felt like hours to Seungkwan, you nod your head. “I would like that. But we go slow.” He rapidly nods his head in agreement.
Seungkwan starts to reach his hand towards yours when a shout comes from behind the door. “Can someone fill me in?!”
Cue the laughter again.
🪐 Vernon
You are the main reason Vernon keeps coming to this electronics shop. He doesn’t even need a new pair of earbuds, but he does want to see you.
When Vernon enters the shop for the fourth time in the last two weeks, you greet him with a warmth that has become familiar. “You’re back!” He watches as you move out from behind the counter. “Do you need a new tablet now? Or maybe a computer?” His already wide smile grows at the sound of your teasing.
“Nope, not this time. Just wanted to pop in and see you,” he says like his heart isn’t currently beating so loud that he’s worried you can hear it. He thinks his heart might actually jump out of his chest when you flash a teasing smile at him.
“Ah, we can actually get to know each other outside of you coming in and pretending that you need more electronics.” Vernon huffs out a laugh, trailing after you to the chairs that you have set up near the desk. “When you're not visiting me, what do you do?” He's used to being recognized in public. Having someone that truly doesn't know who he is or what he does is quite refreshing. And it just makes him fall for you even more.
It’s not the safest move ever when he blurts out, “I’m an idol.” Somehow, you’re not phased. “Really? My brother is a trainee. His name is Seojin.” That name makes everything click for Vernon. He tries to softly whisper, “Oh my God,” but you hear it anyway. “What? Are you okay?”
“I’m actually close with your brother. He’s really good. Didn’t know you guys were related,” his voice comes out strained. Vernon hates how he was the cause of the lights dimming in your eyes. “Is that a problem?” You hesitantly ask.
Is it a problem? It could be. It could make things really messy. “No, not at all.” But he’ll take that risk.
🪐 Chan
Chan does not know the last time he actually went on a date. It’s hard to meet people who have the same interests as him. But when he overhears his friends talking about a new dating app that they tried, he decided to at least give it a shot.
What's the worst that could happen?
While waiting for his other friends to arrive at the restaurant for a hang out, he downloads and sets up his own profile. It's a good way to use up some time. After several swipes to the ‘no’ side, he comes across your profile. Chan pauses.

He continues to scroll through your profile, finding out that you guys have a lot in common. Maybe he should just send a message. A simple “hi” would do, right? So that's what he sends.
Soon after, a message pops up. “Hey there.” Another one: “You like to dance? What's your favorite song to dance to?” A grin grows on his face. You're someone who he can talk to about things like that!
He's so entranced with your conversation that he doesn't even realize that the other people in his friend group had arrived. Suddenly, a hand waves in front of his face. “Chan? You there, buddy?” The voice of Jake draws his attention. “Who are you talking to?” The teasing look in his friend’s eyes fade as he glimpses at Chan’s phone.
“Why are you talking to my sister?” Jake demands, bolting up out of his seat. Chan is quick to follow. “Your sister? I didn't know she was your sister!”
Jake is going to be so upset. You're his sister for goodness sake! And you're talking to his best friend!
The thoughts consume Chan’s mind, so he doesn't realize the analyzing look that Jake is giving him. “You know what? Now that I think about it, you guys are similar.”
Hope flutters in his chest. Is Jake not mad? “You might be good for her.” Jake sits down in his chair and leans back. “But if you hurt her, I'm throwing your speakers out.”
