Transmascs: have you ever been malgendered*?
Yes, and it sucks
Yes, but I don’t really care
Yes, but I still find it validating because I’m being gendered correctly
I’m unsure
No, this hasn’t happened to me
My gender is nonbinary in such a way that this isn’t possible
Other (please explain)
See results / not transmasc
*Malgendering is when you are gendered correctly, but in a very negative way. It especially applies to when people only gender you correctly to be negative, but it applies to other situations as well. Some examples include things like “it’s okay to hit you because you’re a man” or “I know you’re a not a woman because you suck at relationships.” It can happen to both trans mascs and trans femmes (such as when people act like trans women should be grateful to have misogyny aimed at them because they’re correctly being gendered), this poll just happens to be aimed at trans mascs.
today I will gender two bags of rocks

yesterday before school, my daughter introduced me to one of her classmates, there with his mom and a blanket-covered stroller, and told me he speaks Spanish. I want to start talking in Spanish with my neighbors: I know enough, it would be a good way to learn more, and white people should be kind and welcoming, especially to little kids. but something distracted me, then I felt shy, like the chance had passed, and didn't say anything.
later, at the weed store, the woman working was really extra friendly, and then called me "Mr Wevvy." I got caught up in the mechanics of transaction, then I felt shy, and didn't say anything.
I went for a run and thought to myself, I'm going to take the next chance I get to say something to one of my neighbors in Spanish, and I'm going to give chill people a chance to be chill and affirming to me.
this morning, I saw a tiny hand grabbing the edge of the blanket covering the stroller. I stepped over, kneeled down, and asked, "¿Es tu hermano? ¿Cómo se llama?" as we talked, my daughter came over after a second and said "Dada, he can understand English!" I replied, "I thought it would be nice for him to talk in Spanish. Y me gusta practicar."
later, I swung by the weed store and saw the same woman working. when she gave me my change, I said, "Yesterday you looked at my ID and called me Mr Wevvy. I wanted to tell you it's actually Mrs Wevvy." she was really happy I told her and thanked me.
I gave myself a bagel as a reward for being outgoing and assertive.
It's very funny to me how I talk about myself sometimes. Like, the gendering is all over the place
Me, quoting another person referring to me: this child
Me, talking about my place in society: i'm woman with woman problems
Post: if you met your past/future/ au/ mirror self... Me: He'd be upset
Me, looking in the mirror: boy, you go, girl.
People online talking about me: they/them. Me: I ❤️ u
Like what does this MEAN
It's all perfume.
On the topic of unnecessary gendering of products:
Did you know that the "men wear cologne, women wear perfume" convention is technically wrong? In the cosmetics world, it's all perfume. Then, based on concentration of perfume ingredients vs. alcohol (or other carrier material), it's a body splash, an eau de cologne, an eau de toilette, an eau de parfum, or other options. But "perfume" is the correct general term. Yes, males. You wear perfume. Hate to break it to you. But you can use the term "scent" or "fragrance" if you can't abide the word "perfume."
"Cologne," to add to the confusion, can also mean a specific style of perfume, named after the city in Germany, typically featuring a lot of citrus and herbal notes.
