I think its really interesting that everyone wants to talk about their favorite characters but not their faults. Like someone was telling me they love Billy Loomis and I was like 'oh hell yeah let's talk about how interesting this little psycho was' and all they wanted to talk about was how he 'deserved better' and 'it was all Sydney's mom's fault, he wouldn't have been like that if she didnt have an affair with his dad' and like, using it all to excuse that he (billy) and Stu Macher brutally murdered their classmates (and also Mareen Prescott i believe) and seemed to have been having a grand time doingit. I can agree that Maureen Prescott and Hank Loomis' affair and the subsequent abandonment by his mother was the catalyst for his (Billy) spiral into insanity it was not an excuse not the soul reason for his issues. For it to have been the catalyst, anything of equal or potentially less magnitude could and likely would have set him off just the same. He was factually a terrible person, and logically (also psychologically apeaking) he would have always become what he was. You can enjoy evil characters and acknowledge that they are evil, i think its really wierd to be so defensive of an evil person to justify liking them. Idk im just yapping at this point but saying you love a psychopath and then blaming everyone else for his faults and acting as if he was a victim in everything he did? Kinda freaky, I kinda wanna study your brain babe. Like I said, fascinating. You really cant like them and know that its because of their faults or acknowledge that they have so many faults?

Example I'll use by way of myself. I really really like Alfred Pennyworth. He fascinates me, because hes a terrible person and still somehow good in some light. He clearly has attachments and he cares for people, but he also has a very violent and colorful history behind him. He's dramatic and you can very much tell who raised that hooligan (Bruce Wayne) because its so clearly reflected in Alfred. I could talk all day about Bruce and his Pile of Issues™️ but I dont actually have that much time. 'Bruce raised child soldiers' Yeah? So did Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth (ill never forget you Alfred Beagle💀). He was very present from the beginning in the creation of said child soldiers. No matter how reluctant he was at first, he still contributed heavily and willingly to the creation of Robin (all of them). You cant excuse that it was his job, Alfred has always been ok with telling Bruce how he sees it and how he disproves or approves. Oh I could really talk all day long about everything wrong with him but I had a point to make. I love Alfred Pennyworth because he is a bad person and his relationships with other Batman characters interests me. I say fascinating a lot i think but he truly is a very fascinating and complex character. The point was, if you like a bad character then you should then acknowledge that they are bad. You can like a bad character and not have to make them out to be angelic and virtuous. Another thing that I find so interesting is the way people angelicise Alfred like hes some soft caring grandfather/father figure for Bruce and his kids. He may very well be those things to them but he is by no means sweet or soft and warm. Of course I myself do enjoy consuming fanon dcu content of nearly all dcu characters, but I have a strong preference for canon Alfred simply because he is so interesting. Anyways, live, laugh, love Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth🫶❤️

Okay so something thats been on my mind for a while: Hank Loomis

I headcanon that Hank Loomis isn't an abusive parent in the overt way, but is just a general, seemingly harmless, spineless loser of a dad. To the point where it's a legit problem.

Like

The kind of white guy who says, "Workin' hard or hardly working?" And genuinely thinks its funny.

Or he'll say "Gosh!" Unironically when he's surprised, or "I'm so forgetfull, I'd lose my head if it weren't attatched to my neck," with a little chuckle as if that justifies the fact that he doesn't know his only child's birthday.

Like he literally doesn't know that Billy's favorite color is red, so he buys him blue bed sheets cause thats a boys color, and blue shirts during back-to-school shopping spree's, and a blue lunch box for school and shit.

You know what I mean?

It's not violent, it's not extreme, its hardly noticable. But it's not good at all.

The kind of dad who's called his son (again, his ONLY child) "sport" or "champ" more than 'Billy' and talks to him about shit he doesn't even know that Billy's not into, like football, trying to establish a superficial father/son relationship that he's not even interested in.

And that, to me, is EXACTLY why Billy blames Sidney's mom for ruining his life (that and he's a fucking misogynist)

Because come on, you're telling me that guy cheated on his wife? THAT guy??? Him?

The guy who finds parallel parking intimidating stepped out on his family? Broke his mariage? Had the guts to have an affair??

No, not in Billy's mind. There's just no fucking way that spineless jag off would have done it. Even could have done it, without cohersion

She had to make him in some way; seduce him.

She did it. It's her fault! That bitch ruined everything!

Anyway that's my headcanon for Hank. I don't hear a lot about other people's opinions about Hank, he hardly gets mentioned, buts thats me.

I have a ton of other head canon's for other characters, and I like incoperate them into my writing, including this one (I personally like writing Billy's micro-agressions against Hank. One big one being that when Nancy left he stopped calling Hank 'dad' all together and now only calls him 'Hank'. Also completely ignores any attempt Hank tries to make to salvage their already strained father/son relationship) it's loads of fun

How did Hank react to Maureens death? How did Billy feel about that reaction?

I don't think Hank and Maureen had a deep emotional relationship and I write Hank as a pretty repressed guy so I think he probably tried to seem as normal as possible to keep the status quo. Basically react to it like she's just his son's girlfriend's mom and not a woman he had an affair with.

It doesn't seem like it's well known that there was an affair either, it's news to Sid when Billy does his reveal in the kitchen scene. So yk, Hank probably wouldn't want that getting out, especially because it would put him in connection to a murder.

This would piss Billy the fuck off. On an unconscious level I think he partly killed Maureen because he wanted to teach Hank a lesson, he wanted to hurt him, and he used Maureen to do that. When he doesn't get enough of a reaction it makes him mad as hell. Not like theres a lot he can say about it without giving himself away though.

That said I don't think Hank would be able to keep up the mask forever, it would crack sometimes so Billy gets a least a little satisfaction out of it.
