#i hate doctors

Trying to prove a point to someone who doesn’t understand why going to a new doctor would be anxiety inducing because “they’ve literally made a whole career out of wanting to help people, how could they do any wrong.” And “Why would you be scared of someone that spent years and years, went hundreds of thousands in debt, just to be able to help people?”

Fucking hell could you please like or reblog if you’ve ever been gaslit or fake-claimed or in any way mistreated or not taken seriously by any healthcare professional. Any details in the tags is appreciated too. I just need more people to understand that getting clinical help is often infinitely harder than it sounds.

The "recognized but undiagnosed" chronically ill experience of:

"Have you tried anxiety medication and therapy?"

"You see, I know this alternative doctor..."

Exams either being completely and utterly alright, or bad but unidentifiably so/"not bad enough".

"Do you do enough exercise?/Have you drank enough water?/How about you try losing weight or going on a diet?"

Doctors disregarding your experiences and ache.

Doctors changing/switching medications for you to try, as if they were mints, just to see if "something works" (it usually does not).

Doctors are genuinely so stupid

I was eleven or so when I started to struggle to take a full breath. And I didn't really know how to explain what I was feeling at the time so I just always explained it as a tightness in my chest

They referred me to a cardiologist without even checking my lungs 🫩

said cardiologist also said it was just anxiety.

Which, mind you, I was not anxious at all besides about the fact I COULDN'T BREATHE PROPERLY.

went to urgent care today as I won't see my PCP for 5 more days but am experiencing an extreme flare up with really unusual symptoms.

Just wanted some palative stuff (nothing crazy! like fucking zofran and basic testing) to get me through my last week of the semester

That's ofc not what happened, why would a doctor take a patient seriously!

I made this lovely, goofy ass, kinda sad, collage on the bus home. It's made from my clinical notes. To all my chronically ill baddies -- this road is rough but we don't have to go alone. May that weird demon thing on the top right be in every asshole doctors home tonight.
