it took way longer than i thought but i decided to redraw this old comic :D it always bugged me in the years since i posted it how awkward some of the pose/panel direction looked (like when maedhros grabs curufin in page 1), plus i wanted to expand a little on the aftermath that i didnt do back then....!!

ive been a bit burnt out with drawing in general lately so my apologies for this taking a while, but i think im gonna focus on some little doodles and more casual sketches for ask answering to slowly get back into the groove of things 😎 please dont ask me why melkor of all people got hit with the yassification beam. theres no reason at all. absolutely none.......

Wandering Mind Hong Lu

#its finally done. i can rest. heres your regularly scheduled tag rambling‚ featuring the two-in-one theory from lu-is-not-ok:#starting on the design of the abno itself‚ it features a rock floating in its hollow centre‚ one small and yet circular #I connect this then to the jade in Hong Lu's eye‚ and for him this would mean that the jade is contained within a hollow shell like how #LINOK has presented in his theory that the reason Baoyu is so important to the family is due to him being able to do a form of bodyjacking #represented by how the stone in the abno is one that is in a hole made in the main body‚ is notably separate from the body like an outsider #which circles back to the name - wandering mind. Baoyu's mind is 'wandering' in the sense that his consciousness both goes from one body to #another and that he ends up with a feeling of. disconnection from others due to it as well as his family's wealthy lifestyle #again looping back to the black stone - his consciousness - simply floating with no connection to be had #the fact the abno itself is made of stone is also notable‚ not just cuz jade is a rock but also in how it presents his inability to move #or escape from his family or home.#and now onto the MD event + the arms #'An empty‚ humanlike statue‚ is where that mind would decide to settle' i see as a reference to how in the 2i1 theory Baoyu uses Daiyus bod #presumably a dead one‚ thus it being empty and humanlike #when reaching out‚ one is unable to grab its hand: 'It was an illusion—something that shouldn’t be—made visible'#'illusion' I connect to his base EGO‚ 'Land of Illusion' - the land of what cannot and should not be touched #the Dream of the Red Chamber‚ so to speak. This is somewhat of a stretch however. his guandao reading - according to the .gg wiki at least #'Illusory Land of Great Void' is presumably more important here‚ it matches the void like background of the event illustration #the abno then 'understands' its intangibility and then pulls back w a piece of it breaking off‚ earning phantom pain.#as for the refuse option: it has gloom [sinking+EGO]‚ gluttony [rupture] and pride [sk1] advantage which match up with parts of his base ki #both the pass and fail mention 'obsessive' hands‚ though im unsure how this connects to HL. his desire to escape perhaps?#but in the check pass a small hand is grabbed and pulled‚ leading all others to stop. reaching out - properly this time - is what brings #stillness to the abno [clock take notes] & gives 'Mirror Tactile Synaesthesia'. which is a condition that has a person feel a mirrored #sensation another feels [paraphrased] & I connect this w the 2i1 again. the mirrored sensations being a result of the bodyjacking here #notably the wiki page for MTS mentions how it can occur after amputation - like w an eye. HL also laughs in C6 when eye gouging's brought u #plus how phantom pain is also a common symptom for amputees to have.#thats it for now‚ but as a sidenote given his family's focus on immortality do you think JH is just gonna air out the fact HL can come back #to life? ik they're after immortality of the mind but also it'd be funny. or maybe he airs out smth abt bloodfiends - his eyes ARE red afte #all‚ plus [gestures at canto 7 and Don]. this is probably an unpopular opinion with the amount of "everyone is married with kids" type future aus people make for sonic characters but i cannot see sonic getting married or having a kid ever. if he did somehow end up with a kid hed be the worlds first transmasc absent father or however the joke goes

#i can only see sonic with a kid if its some random kid he accidentally adopted or whatever #and if he had a partner whatever they have going on probably wouldnt fit the typical idea of how having a partner works at all #i dont think sonic is a very romantic guy to be honest. and being in a serious relationship or ''settling down'' wouldnt be for him #i guess you could argue his feelings towards that sort of stuff could change once hes an adult #but i kinda. dont like. the idea of him suddenly becoming interested in romance and wanting to settle down #as a sign hes ''finally grown up'' or whatever. because lack of interest in romance isnt an immature trait you have to grow out of #some people never want that sort of thing and thats fine #anyway i dont hate fankids to be clear i think theyre fun in concept . like from a design standpoint #taking traits from characters you like to make a new guy out of it is fun #i just cannot imagine those things ever actually happening does that make sense #actually while im at it i dont think rouge would want kids at all either . people want her to be motherly so bad but she just is not #she is the cool older sister figure who teaches you how to steal from the pin container at hot topic without getting caught. not a mom
