He remembers fixing the castle, going into the Jagerhall and rallying the Jagers, ringing the Doom Bell and summoning the town. He vaguely remembers standing at the castle square and giving a speech. He also remembers “escaping the tyranny of geography” being a major part of that speech. He also remembers assuring the Mechanisburg Chamber of Commerce not to worry, that they would be taking the river with them. (The sequels are also very much recommended fics so read them too)

hmm throwback to the Infamous Harem AU! Imagine Agatha is like 10 years old; Gil & Tarvek, 12.

The raid was going great. The jägers were having fun! Agatha had seen some of them tossing around blocks of the dilithium iron ore she wanted! And best of all, her new Superthermic Plasmathrower was working perfectly!

"COWER BEFORE ME!" she cried gleefully from atop her three-headed venemous horse clank, and blasted another house to ashy smithereens. "I AM A HETERODYNE! MWAHA--HEY!"

Her laughter cut off with an indignant cry because someone had just popped up from behind the ashy smithereens and shot a dart of some kind at her.

Before she could turn her Plasmathrower on it, her best friend and chief minion had jumped off his own clank-horse, caught the dart, and chucked it back toward their assailant like a missile.

"Gil, I could've done that!" Agatha complained.

She settled for sending a burst of superheated plasma, 6.66 times hotter than ordinary flame, roaring at the would-be hero.

But even before it reached the spot where he stood, there was nothing there but smoke.

"Hoy, look at dat!" General Goomblast called cheerfully. He was riding on Agatha's other side, on a much larger clank, as her military advisor for this venture. "Red hair und schneakiness - de Storm King peepil must haff had keeds again! Ve'll have to tell hyu poppa ven ve get home, Mizz Agatha."

The Mechanicsburg's Solstice celebration involving a role reversal of the Heterodyne being chased by the townspeople while the castle is asleep is very Saturnalia.

But I think my favorite thing is that the Jӓgers don't know. The entire city AND the Heterodynes made a game out of attempted regicide 1 night a year and decided the best way to keep it a secret from the Jӓgers so they don't interfere is getting them all shitfaced drunk for three days straight.

And it worked.

hello!

tonight a Jewish holiday partially about hats starts! its called Purim, and we celebrate by making fun of the villain of the Purim story, Haman (boooo) and haman's (booooo) hat!

here is what his hat looked like

we also make cookies in the shape of his hat (or possibly his ears) called hamantaschen and eat them to celebrate defeating him.

Purim is celebrated by partying, drinking a lot and being as loud as possible, so I think it could be quite popular with Jagerkin!

Ho, dat does sound like fun! Mebbe hy take a break zo it dun get too loud fer me, but any party iz pretty often qvite fun.

Hey hey hey I gave original-flavor Virgil a light reimagining that matches my current design and story sensibilities, as well as how he's developed as a character over the years.

He started out as a Girl Genius OC and frankly I'm still very fond of what I did with him; a mute Heterodyne mechanic with heavy spark potential who joined the jagerkin when offered instead of potentially breaking through. He's a lot more low-key than most jagers but has just as much of a mean streak, he's not unsocial but just prefers to keep to his work. He throws himself headlong into clanks and vehicles and other machines, loves working in the bowels of them, working them, trying to make Real Good Explosions, loves his heavy weaponry. He grew up on a hen farm (hates birds, so much) with his mother, older cousin, and three younger sisters and the first thing he did upon becoming a jager was kill his cousin over a long history of bullying and abuse, including the injury that left him speechless.

His preferred hat is a welding mask. He's got grandkids out there somewhere from a relationship where his beau was pregnant and married off before he got the chance to propose; he's still sore about it. He's also very fond of gardening and baking, he's got a few plants at the end of his bed on the wulfenbach ships. Its the only thing he cares much about keeping alive, including himself; he's never been as important as the work he does.
