Author's Note: I recently made a switch to Ellipsus for writing. Unlike with Google Docs, where misspelled words are underlined in red, Ellipsus leaves it up to the writer to spot any mistakes. Sadly, my tired, old-ass eyes may have missed a few things. I'll come back from time to time to edit, so if you guys spot any spelling mistakes, please feel free to tell me. Thank you and happy reading!
James Lee overheard his classmates preparing for a meteor shower. They argued over where they could watch it and what snacks to bring.
He didn't get it.
James Lee, a genius who was used to getting what he wanted, understood their reasoning to a degree, but his heart could not.
Meteor showers are rare but why go through so much trouble to watch one? Pretty, sure, but they're just shiny space rocks.
Fleeting. Worthless. Boring.
Dull.
When life is too easy, it gets boring. When one is bored, one is prone to doing random shit, like following around an overworked, underpaid, lonely twentysomething curmudgeon of a nurse on a whim.
You are cute, James admits, but he’s been with girls and women who were objectively more attractive. Much more welcoming too. But maybe that’s why he chose you. His charms had no effect, neither did his intimidation tactics. You were unimpressed, never afraid, and saw him as a nuisance; to you he was just another high school thug with too much time on his hands.
He already began joining you for lunch at the hospital. Though admittedly, "join" sounds nicer than the reality.
James knew he was intruding on your break, which you spent eating alone in a gazebo. He knew that if you could, you would have kicked him out on the first day he arrived with his own convenience store lunch, but he didn't do anything that can be classified as harassment. If anything, he was well-loved by both patient and staff. The kiddos who were stuck inside most of their lives begged him to perform tricks with his soccer ball. The grannies fawned over him and the gramps roped him into playing cards. He entertained everyone else while you ate in silence, ignoring him, or maybe you were waiting for him to mess up so you could call security on him.
A futile endeavor, and one you finally let go with one sentence: "Take care on your way home."
The next day, you handed him a paper bag. "You come here during lunch time but all you do is goof around." James has received countless medals and trophies, enough to fill an entire classroom, but not a single one made him feel as euphoric as earning a convenience store sandwich from you, served with no smile or motive.
He must have been really bored.
That sandwich was nothing special, the bread was dry and there wasn't a lot of ham, but for some reason, he left no crumb.
Days turned to months. The sandwiches turned to store-bought rice meals, which then became homemade bentos.
Everyday without fail, the two of you shared one meal together. If not at the hospital gazebo, then on the steps of your front door, or, for today, at a cliff overlooking the sea.
To be frank, James didn't think this little arrangement would last as long as it has. He thought for sure that he would have gotten bored at some point. Everything shiny and new that caught his attention lost its shine after a while, becoming yet another boring thing in the dull-gray backdrop of this world.
But not you.
"Wow," you breathed, eyes sparkling at the sunset. Soft pink and orange light wrapped around you. "It's beautiful."
James looked at you and smiled. "Yeah."
Today was supposed to be another simple Saturday. It was cloudy and warm, the perfect day for a picnic. Normally, he would be chatting your ear off while you ate, but James was quiet as he stared at the bento you made. He had no appetite.
"You okay?" you asked.
He only shrugged.
You chalked it up to hormones and started without him.
You were never much of a talker, at least not with James, so only the sound of your chewing and the chirping of birds filled the air while he watched you eat.
After a while, he finally broke his silence.
"Who was he?"
You paused, mouth open, the tip of your onigiri stilled between your teeth.
James, wearing an eerily calm smile, continued, "Yesterday, I saw you laughing with another nurse. Who was he?"
"You just answered your own question."
"You told me that you don’t have friends—"
"—I never said that—"
"—well, you described the people at the hospital as 'strictly co-workers.'"
"That’s true, but that doesn’t automatically mean I have no friends!"
"Do you have friends? Outside of work, I mean."
"..."
"Thought so." James picked a cherry tomato from his lunchbox and started turning it over like he was appraising a gemstone. "That’s why I’m asking who that guy was. You two seemed awfully close."
James recalled your beaming, and how needlessly close the other nurse was standing. You’ve always been the touchy type, sometimes you’d pinch or poke James out of habit but when you realized what you were doing, you would pull back like you touched something dirty. But when you brushed that man’s arm, it was deliberate. Playful.
Enticing.
"By the way, James, you should stop coming over unless it’s a real emergency."
You never tired of telling him to stop dropping by without a good reason. "It’s inappropriate." "Go do your homework at home." "Shouldn’t you be with your friends?"
But every single time he showed up at your doorstep, bruised and cut, you never turned him away. You both knew that at some point, your requests became just another habit. You weren’t an idiot. You must have figured out that his injuries—superficial, visible at a glance and never needing the ER—were self-induced. If you did, you were yet to bring it up.
Thorny as you can be, you were also soft-hearted.
"James."
He put down the tomato. "Yes, noona?"
"I mean it, you need to stop showing up at my house. I went to the grocery store and guess what? I overheard my neighbors—they’re convinced that I’m having an affair with a highschooler."
"I’m legally an adult though."
"Stop."
"And it’s not like we do anything special. You’re too much of a prude."
You rubbed your temples.
"You never cared about gossip before, noona. What changed?"
"Just—" you took a deep breath before meeting his eyes "—I don't mind eating with you at the hospital. The patients love you so that's fine. But promise me you’ll stop visiting my house."
Your expression was pleading.
Even when you were kind to him you were guarded; this was the first time he saw you desperate.
His heart pounded with both excitement and hurt.
"Okay," he relented. "If that’s what you want."
You finally smiled and it was like a weight off his chest.
"Thank you, James."
"Don’t sweat it, noona. I promise I’ll stop showing up at your front door—unless it's an emergency."
"You better not break your promise, brat." You transferred the remaining tomato from your bento into his own. "Hurry up and eat already. Were you sucking on lollipops again? I told you it would ruin your appetite."
"I won’t." He picked up the tomato and popped it into his mouth.
***
As a single woman living alone, you were properly paranoid. When you moved in, you replaced the hinges on the front door and installed four different locks. You even reinforced the windows with iron grates.
If only you did the same for the second floor bathroom. Granted, with the way this house was designed and positioned, it wasn't easy for intruders to climb up the wall or even peek in. Maybe you thought it would be a waste of resources.
No matter. James would be right here if any thief or pervert decided to break in. He would take care of them before they disturbed your rest.
Leaving the window open, he walked gave the bathroom a once-over. The hangers were bare and your basket was empty. "Oh, yeah. I forgot—" He tucked his hands in the kangaroo pocket of his sweatshirt as he stepped into the hallway "—today's laundry day."
He crept his way towards your bedroom. He pulled out the duplicate key he made and unlocked the door.
Everything in this old house creaked, especially the doors, but for all your paranoia, you were a deep sleeper.
"Oh?"
James had to do a double take when entered.
The oversized t-shirt you wore during laundry day was hiked up to your collarbone, your breasts and belly in full display as they moved in tandem with your snores. Bunched up around your left ankle was your panties.
James walked closer. "That's weird." You were a creature of habit—also a bit of a neat freak—so you always cleaned up before going to sleep.
"Was today extra tiring, noona?" he asked, combing back the stray hairs that stuck to your face.
He then lowered his mouth on your forehead, still wet with sweat.
"Nn…"
He moved down and buried his nose in your neck. James took a deep breath, inhaling your scent before pulling back. "I was hoping to watch, but it can't be helped." You masturbated almost every night. You were always careful, closing your doors and drawing the curtains, but as James discovered, you didn't lock or check your closet, which made it the perfect hiding place.
He can still remember the first time he watched you. It was an accident—a happy coincidence.
It was also the first time he broke into your house.
The reserved professional who protected her patients without fail, the grouchy woman who used to look at him with annoyance, the kind but distant noona who cleaned his wounds while scolding him—suddenly, you were open and vulnerable, crying and moaning and panting as you chased your high—and it thrilled him. Just seeing your face when you finally achieved ecstasy was enough for him—he didn't even realized he came with you.
"But still, you're so unfair," he grumbled, crawling between your legs. "You had your fun, so let me have this, yeah?"
Slowly, he pressed the tip of his nose into your womanhood.
James grunted. No used panties could compare to the real thing.
He wondered what would happen if he had a taste right here, right now. Would you wake up to his tongue? Would you scream and kick him out? Would you freeze from shock?
Or would you surrender to pleasure and shove his face closer?
James shut his eyes. You smelled like sin, tempting and inviting. What did you actually taste like?
He took one last deep breath before finally sitting up. He fished inside his pocket for a lollipop. He wanted your first time together to be special, so for now, he had to settle for the next best thing.
He brushed it against your lips.
Smiling, James bent down and kissed the candy as it laid on your pretty mouth.
He sighed and then pulled back again.
He palmed your thigh with his free hand as he pressed the head of the lollipop inside your cunt—tenderly, like a virgin leaning in for their first kiss.
Your legs shivered.
He pushed the candy upward, tugging the hood of your swollen clit.
Your hips buckled slightly and James snickered. "Okay, I'm sorry. I'll stop now." He retrieved the candy, a thin, sticky string of your fluid stretched with it.
He grinned and stuck the lollipop between his teeth, sucking the string like it was ambrosia.
All that sugar overpowered your taste, but for now, he can live with this.
"Nn…" You let go of your vibrator and wrapped your arms around yourself.
James suddenly felt guilty. He didn't realize how cold it's gotten.
"You must be freezing."
He pulled your shirt down, the hem falling above your thighs, and unhooked the panties from your ankle. He then covered you with the duvet. As for the vibrator, he cleaned it with soap and water and left it to dry on your vanity. James was unafraid of you getting suspicious. He had long figured out that you were prone to memory issues. You would wake up tomorrow and think that you "forgot" that you did all this, just like how you will think that you went to bed in just a t-shirt.
"Sweet dreams, noona." He shut the door and locked it from the outside.
"Now then…" He squeezed your crumpled panties inside his pocket like a stress ball. "When should I tell her that bastard's already married?"
"Heh," Diego chuckled at the memory. He was currently reviewing his schedule for the month with his boss.
Charles Choi cocked an eyebrow. "What?"
"Nothing. I just remembered the folly of my youth."
Charles' bodyguard, Goo Kim, rubbed his arms viciously. "Ugh. Stop talking—better yet, stop smiling, it's giving me the creeps."
DG ignored him and reached into his pocket.
As James Lee, he was young and impulsive. He didn't tell you about that adulterer because how else was he, as a concerned third party, would report the affair to the wife? He didn't like seeing that woman storm into the ER and slapping you in front of everyone, but he was hoping it would ruin your reputation just enough for you to break down and fall into his arms.
Sure, you were never buddy buddy with fellow staff, but you maintained a healthy amount of respect for each other. The affair blew up, affecting not just your relationship with your colleagues but also your patients and neighbors—it was, after all, a small town. You went from loner to a pariah. James plan was to isolate you completely, and it did work, but he miscalculated your reaction.
Instead of breaking down, you packed up and moved to Mexico. In a way, he was the one who drove you into Gitae Kim's arms.
DG squeezed your panties, fresh off the hanger.[1]
You needed to know that he was just a cartel thug. DG knew that Gun and Goo haven't disclosed the true nature of their jobs, because how can someone as sweet as you tolerate what they actually do?
"Seriously," Goo said, irritated, "what the hell are you thinking about that's so funny?"
"Do you think a bunny can live happily in a cage?"
"What?"
"I think she can, as long as she doesn't know she's inside one."
"???"
[1] I'll leave it up to you whether you want this to be the same panties from your past, which he has kept and maintained after all these years, or if it's a random pair he swiped from your balcony/laundry room when he visited you recently LOL
a/n: I miss pink haired!DG--AND RED HAIR BRO. HE'S SUCH A LITTLE PSYCHO. 😩
TW: yandere, parasocial & stalker behavior, James is a bit of a tsundere/bully
James Lee, still a bored senior in high school, randomly clicks on a faceless streamer struggling with a point-and-click game from the 2000s. It's a detective game with the most basic puzzles. He scoffs at you for overlooking obvious clues and laughs when you make a mistake.
He follows your streams because he feels bad for you and your occasional two viewers. At least that's how it starts. A routine. What began as mild curiosity, what was maintained only by his condescending pity, eventually developed into a habit.
Your voice isn't that special, he thinks, and you're an idiot who takes forever to solve a Tower of Hanoi puzzle.
But he continues watching. There's something calming about you, something special that even he can't pinpoint. Suddenly, he can't go a day without watching your videos.
Then he starts interacting with you. He may not be your first viewer, but he is your first consistent and vocal "fan." He floods your chat with comments like "what's so fun about this game?" and "even a monkey could solve this puzzle."
If it were anybody else, they would've blocked him immediately, but you just laughed at his words. Maybe you're a masochist.
You welcome him every time he logs in. It shouldn't be a big deal—it's not a big deal, but James gets excited anyway. Hearing you smile as you greet his username has him beaming like an idiot, and he hates feeling like an idiot, so he takes out his confusion on you.
invincibLEE: you JUST read the code to the safe, how did you forget already?
invincibLEE: how dumb are you?
invincibLEE: since ur hopeless, i'll tell you how to solve it
You tell him that you want to solve it on your own. He sends you an eyeroll emoji but leaves you alone. When you solve it (finally), he writes: "see? was that so hard?"
He bombards your chat with live commentary about the game, calling it "idiotic" or "stupid" or other insulting synonyms. As you gain more followers, they ask why you don't block him. You laugh and tell them it's fine because it's Lee.
Your explanation has his chest swelling with pride. "It's fine because it's Lee." Eventually, he hears it as "It's fine because it's my Lee."
He scoffs at your other viewers. They can chat as much as they want, but they'll never be special; that's why he stays quiet even when you start greeting other followers by their usernames. Even if you remember their names, they will never be just yours. And you will never belong to any of them.
James Lee having a separate bank account dedicated to sending you money. It doesn't matter how much the others send you, he triples their donations and shocks you every time. You used to be grateful for his gifts, but then they started reaching what you labeled as "ridiculous amounts" and you had to set a limit. You need to be more selfish, he thinks with a shake of his head.
James Lee, who should be the most thrilled to hear about your face reveal, is surprisingly quiet in the chat. Your mods and followers are equally confused. Some cheeky viewer tags his name: @ invincibLEE, ur bias is gonna show their face tonight, where r u bro??? Other viewers flood your chat with the same thing: where is @ invincibLEE?
James Lee rolls his eyes.
He discards his lollipop stick with a flick of his finger, the plastic hits one of the half-conscious men around him.
Why should I be excited? James leans on his bike and taps on his photo album.

If there’s anything that James thinks is adorable, it’s the way your nose scrunch when you see him. No one look at him with such disgust like you do, it’s charming in your own way.
Unfortunately for you and luckily for James, as the two top scorers, the teachers always make you two work together. In charge of helping the teachers run class smoothly, like collecting homework from other students. James never does it, he can’t be bothered. He elects to watch you. In a way, he finds the way you take your duties charming, as someone reliable.
This morning is like all others, he watch as you collect the work from other students. You would sigh whenever they asked for answers but you gave them the answers anyways.
Then you walked up to him and demanded his work.
“I didn’t do it.”
You shook your head. “What a great example you are.”
“I forgot, give me your answers.” He smiled innocently at you and you frowned.
Though it quickly changed to a bright smile.”No.”
Both of you know that he doesn’t need to do the homework, he is a natural at everything he does. With his exam scores, he doesn’t even need to bother with homework. But it’s just something about catching James slacking that gave you serotonin.
“H-hi.” James felt something tugging on his sleeve and he turned to face the sleeve puller, he recognized her as the girl who hangs around you. Flustered at his attention, she turned a bit pink. “Im sorry about (name).”
He tilted his head. What she going on about? From the tone of her voice, he could guess she’s about to say something unpleasant about you. Friends don’t shit talk about each other behind their backs.
“It’s just that (name) talks badly about you every opportunity they get. You don’t deserve it, especially then (name) is so far up their ass-“
A glare from him was enough to make the girl evaporate and leave out of sight.
James turned his attention back to you, to watch you give the assignments to the teacher. It dawned on him that you and him are in the same situation.
Everyone only comes to him for one superficial reason or another. From looks to fights, everyone wants and expect something from him. Just like you, people only go to you because they want something from you, only for answers, gossips and never anything else. Now even as an opportunity to get on his good side?
Now that he’s thinking, he has never seen you hangout with anyone outside of class. It could be that you’re happy by yourself, but he noticed how you stared at friend groups longingly. He could tell, you’re lonely. Just like him.
-
You splash your face with cold water, until the red in your face reduced to barely noticeable. The expectation were getting too much for you, the responsibility to be the perfect student, forced to be the unpaid therapist and now that your contract fell through.
You took a deep breath.
No one cares.
You aren’t a just a person, a model is all you’re allowed to be.
Once satisfied with how your face looked, you went back to class. You noticed someone left something in the drawer under your desk. You reached in to find some lollipops and a note telling you to feel better. You brought a lollipop closer to your face. It’s the same brand and favor James always has in his mouth. The handwriting matches too. At your realization, you shivered, a couple of thoughts went through your mind.
One, how did he know you were crying? Did he stalk you or something? What a creep.
Two, you really thought he would make fun of you or something. He seemed like someone who would do that but….he didn’t. Maybe your perception was mistaken.
Three, you were touched.
In awe, you looked his way and he grinned at you.
You smile back.
-
“Hydroxide is a strong nucleophile. It undergo what kind of reaction?” You asked pointing to a question in the book.
“Sn1!” James answered, voice full of confidence, as if he understood what alien language you asked.
“No, you idiot!” You smacked him with a piece of spare paper and he fakes a dramatic ow, to which you didn’t even react. “As it’s a strong nucleophile, there will be no carbocation. It’s Sn2!”
”Right, that’s what I meant. I was just testing you.” The redhead teased, but quickly went ahead and erased his answer.
You rolled your eyes, a small smile formed. It’s only in these moments that you feel like a normal high schooler, you’re pretty sure he feels the same too.
Usually people only wanted to talk you to ask for the answers and nothing more. James seems to enjoy you nerding out on the things you’re passionate about. It was endearing, the way he always listened. He pretends to not, but he always surprised you when he brought back in another conversation. It was nice. Even if his arrogance annoys the hell out of you, but you’ve gained immunity at this point. That doesn’t mean you don’t want to strangle him sometime though.
Really, you would’ve never thought someone like James Lee would be bad at something. When he asked you to review the organic chemistry exam together, you were surprised but accepted. You were under the impression that James always got the highest exam grade in every subject, but as it turned out, no one ever top you in chemistry.
After a few more minutes of doing work, James sighed and stared at you. “Im bored”
I wanted to ask if it was possible to request a James Lee x reader? I don't mind the gender but preferably fem or male reader. Someone who could understand him and misunderstand him more than reader and just like some how falling head over heels for them? I dunno, just someone who can offer him a sense of comfort. Thank you! JAMES Lee is a curious guy. What do people say? Curiosity kills the cat. But on the other hand, he doesn't care because he's a prodigy. Not the strongest, not the smartest, but he knows he can surpass those areas easily. There are a few of stronger people on earth who can beat him and he'll also surpass them soon. He is confident, very confident that other think he's being arrogant.
But back to the topic. As soon as he gains interest, he also loses it quickly. It's like a game he wants to play and when he wins, the faster he gets bored. The game itself lands into the trashcan just moments after playing. To be fair he's not picky with the games, he's just picky with what he wants to keep. That's why James is a bit sad when it comes to throwing away those games. Did he just waste his time?
And then suddenly — this principle of his shatters. Slowly but surely. With every step he's taking just to see you. Ah there you are, he searched for you everywhere. At your job, at your favorite spots, at your go to coffee shop. You're so boring, no joke. You're his least favorite game. Somehow, he's still playing though. Weird huh? He keeps coming back to play with your game.
He just sits somewhere down and watches you. It's always the same. Is this how life is going to be if you're getting older? He doesn't want to get old and boring like you. Even though James is only complaining, he doesn't stop visiting you, appearing out of nowhere at times you said it's okay to come. He tells himself that he's clinging to you because he's curious how you break his principle.
However, he knows he'll never stop playing this game. What is it called again?
"What are you doing here?" you finally opened the door after he rang the bell ten times or more. The door he was about to break open.
"Visiting you duh?" he grinned like always, the lollipop at the side of his mouth so he can talk clearly to you. Oh. He found himself at your side once again, not even missing a day. It's almost a new routine for him and you.
"It's almost ten pm, not the right time for you to drop by." you stared at him blankly while folding your arms like the boring aunty you are. "I don't remember telling you where I live."
"Dunno how I found you." he shrugged his shoulders, unbothered by the actually creepy fact as he put his hands into his pockets. "Can I... come in?"
"Only because it's almost midnight." you sighed. He's glad you don't mind that him being stalker-ish.
You pushed the door open and the entrance to your home got wider for him to come in. It felt like he was a street rat, running away from home because of some problems at home. But at least you welcome him with open arms. "What are you doing here?" you questioned again and gave him a sign to close the door behind him. He did of course. "Don't tell me you're running away from home."
"No. I just felt like visiting you again. Kinda missed you." he smiled sweetly, using his pretty face to advantage.
"We saw us each other when I was at work today." you huffed and walked to your room not affected by his charms.
"It still was five grueling hours without you. And sixty minutes times five is long." he pouted, trailing after you.
"Stop. Now tell me the real reason why you're here."
"Naw, I was tired of playing the same game."
"The cat and mouse game?" you asked, sitting down on your seat at your studying table as he laid down on your bed. You cringed a bit as those words left your mouth.
"Yeah."
Right, he called this the cat and mouse game between you two. And now he's tired, because he usually plays alone instead with someone else. "I won though." he grinned and turned sideways on your bed, making you sigh. You need to change sheets probably. "I found out where you live and caught you like a cat would catch the mouse." you think he's talking nonsense.
"Sounds... interesting." you turned your back for him to see as you continued to study for the exams.
"It is..." he muttered quieter than ever, making you worry a little.
The silence wasn't loud nor uncomfortable. It was... normal. Not that you two always are silent or something. It's just that your conversation are always quiet and calm, no one raises their voice at each other. The silence is nice. Your feet touches the floor from time to time, finding it's own rhythm while you began writing some stuff down on the white paper.
A little smile made it's way on your lips as you hummed your favorite song under the breath, the sound of your pen comes in contact with the paper. "It's quite late." you started mid humming and didn't turn to his direction to talk to him, staying like the way you are sitting. "You can stay the night. If you want, that is..." you offered, "I have a free room available, but I need to clean it up first."
You waited. And waited for his answer. But you only huffed, laying the pen down as you leaned back against your seat. "Don't you have a family that worries about you?" you questioned before closing your eyes. "I'm sure they are. Ah young people really are reckless and act like gangsters." god, you really are beginning to talk like an old lady. Not that you mind though. Or do you? You can only imagine the grin he's wearing right now after what you said.
"Maybe... you're right. I'm feel quite old." you opened your eyes again and turned the seat to his direction finally.
For a moment, your eyes widened slightly. Ah James didn't answer because he fell asleep. "Pfft— you look like a little child." you chuckled as your eyes softened, then turning away again. "Good night, James... I'll be quiet now, yes?" you wished him, going back to study. But not before taking your flip phone to take a picture of him while he was sleeping. For once he looked like a normal teenager.
"I hope he'll be happy about my present." you shook your head, "focus. You should study and then make fun of him."
James Lee will never admit the sincere comfort he feels at your side and how much he treasures your genuine worry about him as his dreams bring him a smile to his lips.
a/n's note — HELP? I DON'T KNOW IF I MET THE CONDITIONS AHHHHHHH... I should be studying right now, but erm here I am, writing the request. I'M SORRY ANON IF YOU EXPECTED JAMES TO BE MORE "head over heels"?! so umm, part two when?
