batman: i let the people i care about most know i care by verbally ripping into them
I can't be the only one who thinks Black Canary is underutilized. Wonder Woman did so much on the JLA, with her strength, her lasso, etc. Gardner Fox knew how to write her. But these later JLA writers don't seem capable of extending Black Canary the same courtesy. We never see her do anything! And I know she only developed her sonic voice when she moved from Earth-Two to Earth-One, but we should still see her using her martial arts skills! But we never see that! So i just think nobody knew how to write for Black Canary, which is a shame. She's not a bad character. But the execution on her often falls flat.
i can’t stop thinking about this my shayla you deserve sm better
to the “who is the mask” argument, batman quite literally does not exist without bruce wayne
for context, the above panels are from a comic in which bruce wayne and batman are split into two separate beings
and this is bruce tried to cut out the bruce wayne part of himself and just be batman
everything that defines and drives batman comes from bruce wayne. batman does not and cannot exist without bruce wayne. point blank period

I realized that there was sadly too much of interest for me to abandon the JLA after Gardner Fox leaves, but I do have to skip 30 issues ahead (I don't like thinking of Black Canary losing her husband, or of Martian Manhunter and Snapper Carr leaving the League). So this is what my reading list for the post gardner fox era of the jla looks like. I stop just before zatanna joins the team, because i don't really care as much after that point (no offense to zatanna's character). So if anyone has any stories they feel i desperately need to add to this list, go ahead and ask. I might not add them to my list, but I can at least try to hear persuasive arguments.
