How Assorted Members of the Batfamily would react to watching CATS (a note- I am not at all up to date with comics. That being said, I know I’m leaving out several more recent characters, but I’m just sticking with the ones I have a better feel for. Also, if anyone’s personality has drastically shifted, I also wouldn’t know)

Dick Grayson- Dick’s from the circus- He has a blast watching the dancing, singing, acrobatics, costumes, and set and lighting design. More than most he understands the insane amount of work that goes into the show. While he might not connect deeply with plot or individual characters, Dick absolutely appreciates it as a spectacle musical, and has a really good time.

Jason Todd- Jason is established as liking literature, and the arts. He has seen CATS before, and is happy to see it again. He’s also read Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and has thought about the differences in tone between the two. He’s more invested in character arcs than Dick, and also really enjoys himself.

Barbara Gordon- Barbara tries. She really, really does. She saw the 1998 video once, when she was little, and did not like. Now older, she wants to understand why people like the musical. She reads reviews, watches videos, and investigates fan sights in preparation. But when she goes to see the musical live, she still Does Not like it.

Cassandra Cain- Most of the family didn’t think Cass would have a good time at the musical, but it turns out the CATS is kind of the perfect show for her. In CATS, pretty much all character arcs, and personality are communicated nonverbally, and usually through dance, Cass just Gets It. She connects to the characters and is able to follow plot points far more quickly than anyone else in the family, and by the end of Act One, she’s been converted to a CATS fan. She wants to see it again as soon as possible.

Tim Drake- Tim is not having a good time. This is the first time he’s seen the show, and he didn’t do any background research like Barbara. He is bored and confused, and would prefer to be at home. He might not stay after Act One. If he does, it’s only because leaving would make Dick and Cass feel bad.

Stephanie Brown- Steph has fond memories of watching the 1998 video as a kid. She knows a lot of the lyrics and dance going in. Her enjoyment is partially nostalgic, though seeing the show again after several years reignites her love of the musical. She has a great time, and mouths along to most of the lyrics.

Damian Wayne- Damian has to dragged to the show. He hates the idea of the show, and thinks the entire concept sounds stupid. After the show, he asserts that he had a horrible time, and he will never forgive the family for putting him through that. Secretly, he actually loved the show, and might actually rival Cass as a CATS convert. However, he would rather die than actually admit it. Once home he downloads the 1998 video on YouTube, and watches it.

Alfred Pennyworth- Alfred knows the show well, and is delighted to be seeing it live. Since Alfred’s already been given every possible old career known to man, I’m arbitrarily deciding that Alfred was a member of the original London West End cast as a swing, and portrayed both Bustopher/ Gus, and Skimbleshanks. He thinks this cast did a wonderful job, and the show brings back a lot of fond memories.

Bruce Wayne- It’s not that Bruce likes it or hates it, he’s just very confused, and does not understand what is going on. He’s happy that most of the kids seem to be having a good time.

Selina Kyle- If you can look me in the eyes, and tell me that Selina Kyle isn’t the biggest fan of CATS to ever live on this green earth, I don’t think we can be friends.

Hi there, now I've seen a lot of people complaining about how Yuga doesn't feel like a real yugioh protagonist. I'm here to put that to rest with the real facts.

Here's Yuga Odo

At first glance he may not seem fit for the Yu-niverse, but actually he's one of the best fit.

One of the first complaints I've seen is that his hair doesn't look anything like the other Yugibros, and I'd like to ask, what are the criteria?

One of the big criteria I've seen while looking through yugioh hair is most of them have AT LEAST two tones. So let's check:

Yep! Two tones! In fact, Yuga's hair almost looks identical to ANOTHER CHARACTER from another series:

IV from Zexal. Now I havent seen Zexal, so don't quote me on any of this. Sure IV has a cool uniform and Yuga doesn't but thats just blatant erasure of Yugi's school uniform.

Now I will admit that IV does look pretty swanky, but I can look at his hair without saying what in the god damn.

His hair has a general flow to it, kinda like it might resemble actual hair. Kinda like real hair, as close to real hair as yugioh can get.

Yuga's hair on the other hand looks like a literal dumpster fire

And I mean this in the most literal sense. It literally looks like fire. The award for blandest Yugibro hair actually goes to Judai who doesn't even fit into the Yu trope either

Another criteria though is eyelashes, all the Yugibros have great eyeliner game, and Yuga has about just as much as Judai so I'll call that a pass.

He even has the usual wing. Its the facts.

So, I'd call this case closed tbh, Yuga is more of a Yugibro than some. I have yet to see Sevens, but I am ready to see this kid in action.

It occurred to me the other day that season one of Warrior Nun starts with Shannon (who is in love with Mary) dying, and ends with Mary (who was in love with Shannon) presumably dying. Maybe that’s why they renewed it. They were like, “ah, a show where sapphic women die on a regular basis. Excellent. We look forward to the language nerd one meeting a horrifying end next season.” And then that didn’t happen, and instead there was even kissing, and that’s why they didn’t promo the season and tried to bury it and cancel it despite the show being even better than season one.

I think my favorite joke ever will always be “Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read,” despite the fact I don’t like dogs. Because 1. LOL, pun! 2. That must be one huge dog if you’ve managed to climb inside of it enough to attempt to read in there.

Although modern life kind of ruins the joke, because I could totally read inside a dog if I had my Kindle tablet. I’d just have to increase the brightness of the screen. Though I suppose you could update the joke by changing it to “ Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, there’s no power outlet to plug your eReader into.”

Prince of Dance? This is my second ask today but i'm really curious: I've heard that Princes destroy, or "break" their aspect, if you will. I'd really like to know what a Prince of Dance could bring to the table.

In general, the idea of Sburb is to grow into your aspect; the game is about personal growth. Princes, as we have seen in canon with Eridan and Dirk, actively resist their aspect (Eridan refusing Hope, and Dirk refusing Heart) and tend to destroy too much of it before they learn to balance their aspect with its reverse (I.e. Dirk needs to learn to balance mind and heart instead of ridding himself of emotion and relying solely on logic).

What does this mean for the Prince of Dance, you ask? Well, the Prince of Dance would probably shadow their aspect’s opposite (Idk maybe Clumsiness or something if we equate Dance with Grace). Princes also tend to leave their aspect’s opposite in the wake of their destruction.

So, the Prince of Dance would be super clumsy and ruin any dance he participated in. By destroying Dance, he would probably sow Clumsiness in the other dancers. Which means he’d mess up the dance so bad  that he would probably make the other dancers fall over too.

So, as for what they’d bring to the table? Pretty much nothing. Unless you wanted to ruin a dance, I guess.

Can you tell me about a hypocritical Sylph of m Mind

Yeah I know one and omg I just can’t stand her? She’s always like “dude what are you doing stop trying to teach those hamsters to jump through flaming hoops that’s not even cool” when I know SPECIFICALLY that she has been training snails to navigate through salt mazes? What the fuck?? Like that’s not the lamest thing you’ve ever heard? What a filthy hypocrite

Could you analyse the Canine of Eyebrows and the Sorceress of Sideburns for me please?

Canines are dogs. The Canine of Eyebrows is basically a dog with eyebrows. Wow.

The Sorceress of Sideburns is basically somebody who really likes sideburns. They’re kinda like witches in that they can manipulate their aspect, but I think Sorceresses use objects to manipulate their aspect instead of just sheer willpower and unfathomable magics. So you’d often find a sorceress of sideburns with a bottle of Deb Ruins’s Miracle Grow for growing sideburns on unsuspecting enemies and improving their appearance by at least 413%. I’m not sure what that has to do with defeating enemies, but at least they’d be more stylish. 

Incidentally, the perfect match for the Sorceress of Sideburns is the Wizard of Beard. Who would have thought.
