February 25th, 2019: Congratulations to Kanaemi (叶笑) of Kawahisa (川久) in Miyagawa Cho on the occasion of her misedashi! She is the imōto of the Kawahisa atotori Kanachisa (叶千沙), who is an accomplished natori geiko. The turnout wasn’t too large as most people were over in Kamishichiken for Baikasai (which I’ll post about later), but it was a beautiful day with excellent weather!  おめでとうさんどす叶笑ちゃん ^o^! January 2019: Minarai Kanaemi (Kawahisa Okiya) of Miyagawacho started wearing the full Maiko outfit today!

In Miyagawacho, Minarai wear a handara obi and a special hikizuri with shorter sleeves for three days before transitioning to the normal Maiko ensemble.

January 11th, 2019: Two new minarai from Miyagawa Cho have begun their journeys to become maiko today. Kanaemi (叶笑) of Kawahisa (川久) (left) and Fukunori (ふく典) of Shigemori (しげ森) (right) made their round of introductions today, and will continue to wear a houmongi and handara obi for the next three days before switching to the usual maiko attire. Both girls will be having their misedashi in February, with Kanaemi celebrating on February 25th. Today in Miyagawacho: Misedashi of Maiko Kanaemi from the Kawahisa Okiya!

This is great news, Kanaemi is the first Maiko to debut from Kawahisa since Kanako almost five years ago! Kawahisa had some bad financial issues in the past and was a known Maiko-only okiya, but they ended this trend two years ago when they allowed Satoharu to have her Erikae.

Satoharu become independent after just a little over a year, Kanako has become really popular (she even is on the Kyō Odori poster this year) and now they have a new Maiko, so things seem to be going a lot better.

Kanaemi is the fourth imouto of Natori Geiko Kanachisa, the atotori to the Kawahisa Okiya. Her two other two imouto that are currently active, Kanayuki and Kanako, are doing great, so I’m sure that Kanaemi will do very well.

26 กุมภาพันธ์ 2562: พิธีแสดงตัวครั้งแรก (店だし : Misedashi) ของไมโกะ Kanaemi (โอกิยะ Kawahisa) จากเขต Miyagawacho ในจังหวัด Kyoto

Kanaemi เป็นไมโกะคนแรกของโอกิยะ Kawahisa ที่ได้เข้าพิธีแสดงตัวครั้งแรก นับตั้งแต่พิธีของไมโกะ Kanako เมื่อ 5 ปีที่แล้ว อาจเป็นเพราะโอกิยะเองมีปัญหาทางด้านการเงิน ทั้งสถานะ “โอกิยะสำหรับไมโกะเท่านั้น” คือไม่อนุญาตให้ไมโกะในโอกิยะได้เลื่อนขั้นเป็นเกโกะ เมื่อพวกเธอเป็นไมโกะจนถึงกำหนด 5 ปีแล้วก็ต้องลาออกไป โอกิยะ Kawahisa ก็ได้ยกเลิกสถานะนี้ของตนเองเมื่อ 2 ปีก่อน เมื่อคุณแม่ผู้ดูแลโอกิยะ (お母さん : Okaasan) อนุญาตในไมโกะ Satoharu ได้เข้าพิธีเปลี่ยนปกกิโมโน (衿替え : Erikae) แล้วเลื่อนขั้นเป็นเกโกะ

หลังจากเข้าพิธีเปลี่ยนปกกิโมโนเพียง 1 ปี เกโกะ Satoharu ได้ออกไปเป็นเกโกะด้วยตนเอง คือไม่ได้พึ่งทางโอกิยะมากเหมือนแต่ก่อน อีกทั้งไมโกะ Kanako ก็เริ่มมีชื่อเสียงอย่างมากจนถึงขั้นได้ขึ้นโปสเตอร์ประชาสัมพันธ์ Kyou Odori (京をどり) ประจำปีนี้ นี่อาจเป็นสัญญาณที่แสดงให้เห็นว่าทุกอย่างกำลังจะดีขึ้น

ไมโกะ Kanaemi เป็นน้องสาวอุปถัมภ์คนที่สี่ของ (妹 : Imouto) ของเกโกะ Kanachisa โดยน้องสาวอุปถัมภ์คนอื่นที่ยังคงทำงานอยู่ของเกโกะ Kanachisa คือไมโกะ Kanayuki และไมโกะ Kanako

กุมภาพันธ์ 2562: ไมโกะ Kanaemi (โอกิยะ Kawahisa) จากเขต Miyagawacho กับเครื่องประดับผมดอกพลัม (梅 : Ume) ประจำเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ โดยมีลักษณะพิเศษคือมีกลีบดอกไม้ห้อยลงมาเป็นสาย เรียกว่า Shidare (しだれ) สำหรับไมโกะอายุน้อยที่เพิ่งเริ่มงานปีแรกเท่านั้น

มกราคม 2562: ไมโกะฝึกหัด Kanaemi (โอกิยะ Kawahisa) จากเขต Miyagawacho ในจังหวัด Kyoto

ไมโกะฝึกหัด (見習い : Minarai) เป็นช่วงเวลา 1 เดือนของ Shikomi ก่อนได้เลื่อนขึ้นเป็นไมโกะเต็มตัว โอบิของ Minarai จะสั้นกว่าโอบิของไมโกะ เรียกโอบิที่สั้นกว่าประเภทนี้ว่า “Handara Obi” ที่แปลตรงตัวได้ว่าโอบิที่สั้นกว่าโอบิ Darari ของไมโกะครึ่งหนึ่ง หน้าที่ของ Minarai คือติดตามรุ่นพี่ไมโกะของเธอไปงานเลี้ยง เพื่อสังเกตและเรียนรู้ว่าการเป็นเกอิชาจริงๆ ต้องทำอะไรบ้าง ข้อแตกต่างของ Minarai ในเขต Kamishichiken คือเธอจะสวมโอบิ Darari อย่างเต็มรูปแบบเลยตั้งแต่วันแรกของการทำงานเป็น Minarai ส่วน Minarai ในเขต Miyagawacho ก็จะสวมโอบิ Handara เฉพาะสัปดาห์แรก แล้วเปลี่ยนเป็นโอบิ Darari ในสัปดาห์ถัดไปตลอดช่วงเวลาการเป็น Minarai และ Maiko ของเธอ
