we start with our first Link in the timeline! tried to include the most interesting hcs I have gotten (there's so little with Sky why) I hope this format works for me during this month
you can still share your Headcanons of the chain by sending an ask and I might doodle something with it!
closeups/headcanons/people who share them under the cut
Trans (either transfem or transmasc) + t4t
@mirensiart @nightyraven-art (apparently I can't tag you????)
reminder that we are playing with our dolls here! don't be a jerk with others because they have a different headcanon or because they like a certain ship, also take in mind that I might combine some hcs to make this easier for me to include as many of them as possible
I HC Sky has epilepsy and he’s been having seizures since he was around 7 but Groose bullying him has absolutely NOTHING to do with this
Like Groose is a bully but he’s not ableist. He’d genuinely help Sky and make sure he was okay, and he’d gently talk to him until he calmed down and recovered a bit, but then once Sky was back up again and was for sure good and moving around okay Groose just says some shit like “okay well still fuck you because I actually have more beetles than you and therefore I am cooler than you, shortass.” because they’re fucking ten and Groose hates his guts but its just because he’s irritated by Sky as a person and NOTHING else
He’s just like “Hey, you good? Are you okay now?” and the SECOND Sky is like “Yeah, I’m fine” Groose is like “Oh good. Btw I’m faster than you just so you know, just in case you forgot” and Sky definitely just shoots him the most EXHAUSTED, irritated look, but really he’d just glad Groose is treating him like a normal person even if he really wishes he’d just shut the fuck up sometimes
Time: was taught hylian by trees???? Almost has no tone/infliction in voice (he's working on it)
Malon: Tennessee accent all the way, with that nice hook at the end too (non southerners imagine dolly parton)
Lullaby: very formal proper hylian, dignitary style
Warriors: British military like he's reading from a manual
Sheik: I don't know much about her but the sheikah definitely take inspiration from Japan
Twilight: Appalachian accent as thick as raw honey (non appalachians have yall ever heard of one looking it up)
Midna: try 'n' convince me she don't have a loud ass Louisiana accent (non southerners go watch princess and the frog) (this is totally not for my Midna is African American agenda)
Dusk: real formal like n all that
Sky: That's a Midwesterner (he genuinely tried to get Wild and Rulie to eat jello salad once)
Sun: completely Midwestern
Groose: spends a lot of time around the other two^ but his parents are Gerudo (Arabic/middle eastern)
Four: the minish have always reminded me of the Icelandic tales of little elves
Dot: same formal accent, maybe more like Four's
Age/Cal(calamity): very formal british accent almost royal but also uses some Korean (Zora) words
Mipha: Korean accent (thicker than Sidon's)
Fauna: royal and tight lipped british
Wild: used to be more British (kinghts!), but now is more southern cause twilight has corrupted him
Flora: much more informal than the other zeldas
Legend: Scottish accent, but he usually hides it really well, so you can't really tell at all unless he's mad or tired
Fable: Scottish asf (non Scottish people imagine Merida)
Ravio: fairly normal, but if provoked, he will speak like an Italian mobster wife until he gets his way
Hyrule: Rulie is Irish or Welsh all the way (especially with half fae/fey Hyrule)
Dawn: pretty similar to Hyrule
Aurora: transatlantic accent!!!!!
Spirit: he's always reminded me of Hugo Cabret, so cockney british accent it is (this grates on War's patience)
Phantom: can be formal if she has to but usually just sticks with cockney as well
Wind: Okay look, I love scottish pirate Wind, but I raise you patois or creole pirate Wind
Tetra: Wind's accent but double the amount and also the volume she says it at
Wild had been told the story a hundred times by Impa it seemed. The ancient hero had fought the Calamity Ganon, alongside the Divine Beasts. That sure seemed like something someone with a spirit of courage would do.
So where, exactly, was the strange red-haired ancient hero that had once worn the armor the goddess had given him? Because last he checked, none of them were weird Zonai-Hylian-dog hybrids.
He had shown them all the armor when he got back, earning a mix of interest and horror—Sky getting offended by the likeness, Legend asking if he could try it on, and Time turning to stare at the woods for a while in much the same way he had after Wind had asked where babies came from. The armor had a tail, which was much mocked. Wild couldn’t figure out how to remove it.
“Maybe it’s modeled on like… a fictional hero.” Four tapped his chin as he circled the armor. “Like from a storybook. They like, mashed up a bunch of different lore, and came up with this? I knew some sky people, and they were red-heads, but they weren’t this…. Tall?”
“I think if anyone knows about sky people it would be me.” Sky pouted. “And there are no sky people who look like this. N-Not even Batreux looks like this.”
“Batreux?”
“He was a demon now he’s just the ugliest man in Skyloft.”
“… does he know you call him that?”
“He gave himself that title.” Sky jabbed a finger at the armor. “THIS is not how we look. I don’t want history thinking this is how we look.”
“I’m not sure Wild is even part of your timeline, Skyloft.” Time rumbled without even looking up.
“But I thought Sky was first?” Wind was poking at the armor’s pawed feet.
Time’s pained expression intensified. “Some may disagree.”
The teasing finally died down, and they went about the evening routine. Sky, uncharacteristically, asked for the second watch that night. Everyone expressed concern about his ability to stay awake, but Sky brushed them off, promising he could handle an all-nighter. He spent the whole night feverishly writing a letter, which the postman appeared to receive almost as soon as it was done. Sky stared at the armor after the mysterious man left, willing it to disappear.

Sun squinted at the map Sky had drawn, holding tight with one hand so it wouldn’t blow away in the breezes of the sky island. Her other hand held a shovel, hefted over her shoulder for balance. “Let’s see… three paces east of the oak tree should be… right here.”
She set to digging. Within a few strokes, her shovel hit a chest. It wasn’t as big or grand as the ones you might find treasure in, childsized and made of simple wood. She popped open the latch.
Inside was an assortment of objects—a Loftwing shell, a painting of a couple holding a baby, a pen Sun recognized as having once been hers—but underneath it was what Sky had begged her to retrieve: a sketchbook.
He had asked her to burn it.
And she would, she totally would. But first, she wanted to see what he was so eager to hide.
Most of the drawings were good—loftwings, her, the other villagers, bugs or flowers. Sun sighed happily. Her beloved always had such a talent for art. She didn’t see why she should burn the book. Maybe he had—
Oh. Oh right.
She forgot she had borrowed this once.
Groose had been teasing Link for always drawing, and to cheer Link up she had tried to draw Groose for him. Her lack of talent had made the picture look more like a constipated dog-man with flowing red hair, but Link had laughed and everything had been fine. He had even added a little tail with a pom-pom to her masterpiece. The memory made her smile.
Surely this drawing wasn’t the issue? Sun pulled it out of the notebook, then regretfully complied with burning the rest of the lovely artwork. She would show Link the art the next time she saw him, and they would have a good laugh. Her hero needed a good chuckle, she thought.

Years in the future, Sky watched the armor all night, hoping he would see the moment it faded.
