May offers Fitz to teach him how to fly the Zephyr
@theclaravoyant and I were talking about how emotional we both are about Zephyr One, and she mentioned wanting May to teach Fitz how to fly it. We are both in the habit of spoiling each other, and I have been wanting to write something May for a while, so I wrote this.
Mentions the FD trauma, the Framework trauma and panic attacks.
This also fits @leofitznetwork monthly challenge: May is for Mothers.
It’s not after they have decided that they are actually leaving that she takes the decision. They have a lot on their plates: looking for new jobs and a house, everything they can arrange to try to ease the shock of the change, and dealing the best they can with Daisy’s resentment, who is not really happy with having them- him- here, but still loves them enough to be mad about seeing them leave; but because they are juggling a lot, and are stretching themselves thin over the most menial details, May knows this is the right time.
She waits till she is sure that Simmons is out to go looking for him in their room; May doesn’t believe this is something shameful, but this is about him, and it is difficult to enforce their entity as two separate human beings when they are together.
May knocks on the door twice, and though she waits for his answer to open it, when she peers inside Fitz is rushing to close the browser on his laptop, like looking through real estates in Scotland is a crime. May thinks that maybe they all have an internalized set of priorities that forces them to feel like it is, and that is one of the many things she wants to snap them out of; it might be too late for her, but she refuses to believe it is too late for them.

Inktober for Writers - Day 25 “Friend”
“Hey May, do you think we can talk?”
Daisy leans on the door frame as she waits for May to respond.
Smiling at her, May nods her head.
“Of course. Come sit down, Daisy.”
She walks into the room and pulls out one of the free chairs before sitting down.
“I just want to say thank you, for being such a good friend over the years. I know we had a rough start and haven’t always agreed but you’ve really been great to me.”
Daisy smiles softly at May who returned it.
“Thank you, Daisy. I want to say you have been a wonderful friend as well. It’s okay that we haven’t always agreed and will not always agree in the future either. We’ve learned from each other which is more important.”
May looks at her and all the changes that have happened over the years.
While she didn’t agree with Coulson in the beginning, she can’t imagine her life without Daisy now.
Daisy, unable to resist, leans over and hugs May for a few moments before letting go.
May smirks.
“Now that this is out of the way, I think it’s time to do some more training. You should have taken out those grunts quicker than you did because you let them get into your head.”
Daisy playfully groans but stands up as her friend and mentor does.
For the five and one meme: Five times May had to put a teammate to bed (or alternatively, mom'd someone) :)

When Melinda May signs on to join S.H.I.E.L.D., thereare many things she expects she will have to do. There are even some thingsshe’s surprised about but once they’re explained to her, they make sense.
For the first few months, the academy meets herexpectations and she more than meets theirs.
One night, as she returns to the dorms after grabbinga bite to eat, she sees her roommate, Maria Hill struggling to return to theirroom.
“Hey, you okay?”
Maria nods as she’s too busy yawning to answer hervocally.
The breeze picks up causing both women to shiver.
“Are you heading back to our room?” Melinda asks asshe walks closer to Maria.
“Yes, I am. Are you?”
Melinda nods her head as she wraps an arm around theother woman’s waist.
“Come on, you look like you’re going to fall over anymoment now and we don’t need you falling down the stairs or something.”
Maria leans into Melinda as she wraps her own armaround her shoulder to help balance her.
The shared body heat from the contact keeps the womenfrom freezing as the wind changes from a breeze to something stronger.
Ten minutes later, the women stand outside their roomas Melinda fishes out her room key before unlocking the door and leading Mariain.
Maria is practically asleep so Melinda brings her overto her bed and lays her down before removing her shoes then maneuvering herunderneath her comforter.
As she walks over to her own bed in order to get readyfor bed herself, she hears a whispered “Thanks Mel”, causing her to turn aroundand smile at Maria.
Down by the Sea Shore - a Team Shield fanfic
Characters: Daisy Johnson, Alphonso Mackenzie, Elena Rodriguez, Jemma Simmons, Melinda May, Phil Coulson, Leo Fitz, Agent Piper
Rating: Gen
Summary: The team takes the first chance they get to take a break once everyone is out of the Framework; which in this case, is a trip to the beach.
Notes: Written for the “at the beach” prompt over at @aosficnet2
Also, instead of pie - they go to the beach
“I mean it. I think this is the first step in us starting to heal. Just look around at everyone.”
Doing as Jemma suggested, she couldn’t help smiling as she watched Mack and Elena splash each other while Fitz and Coulson cooled off in the water just far enough that they were out of danger. Then her eyes wandered over to where May and Piper were walking along the edge of the ocean, deep in conversation but not a serious one as Piper laughed at something May said.
“You’re right. We really needed this.”
Just lying in the sun on the beach felt like all the stress and pain were melting off of her shoulders.
“It’s definitely worth dragging sand back to the base and dealing with it for ages because you know, its gonna get in everything.”
Jemma sighed.
“Maybe we can get Fitz to upgrade the vacuum cleaners to easily suck up any and all sand.”
Adjusting her sunglasses, she went back to watching the team enjoy the water when Mack caught her attention by waving his arm.
“Come on, Jem. I think the others want us to join them in the water.”
80. “Does he know about the baby?”
Thank you for prompting me, babe! Hope you enjoy.
Once she has scanned her surroundings to the best of her ability without letting go of the baby, and she is sure that the woman who gave it to her has vanished into thin air, May presses the button that sends the silent distress signal and waits.
The baby is crying a little, probably from his unknown surroundings, and May finds out that the only way to get him to stop is rocking him over and over on her hip. For real, though. She has no age for that to be the only possibility.
“May? Are you okay?”
She is equal parts relieved and regretful that Daisy is the one to get to her first.
Relieved, because Daisy is a fine Agent and someone with whom May has a close enough relationship that she can trust her. Also, because it could be someone worse. Like Phil.
Regretful, because now that Daisy knows, there is no way May is living this one down.
Even through the bustle of the city around them, May can distinctly hear Daisy gasping when she turns around and Daisy can see the baby.
“What even is that?”
May doesn’t dignify that with an answer and pushes her own ICER into Daisy’s hands.
“Here, in case you need a backup. You will have to cover my back all the way to the Zephyr.”
“Of course.” Daisy holsters the gun and gives her a nod. May bumps her shoulder against hers as a sign to get her going. “Soooo, you have a baby now.”
“Only until we can find the parents.”
Daisy nods and her eyes water a little. May would like to have a word of comfort for her, but there is none, and she’d rather say nothing than empty words.
“Does he know about the baby, though? AC, I mean,” Daisy says after a while when they are both waiting behind a corner for the street to clear out. “I mean, you guys just started dating again and now, baby boom!”
May glares at her.
“Of course he doesn’t know. He just got the same distress signal you did. And this is not a baby boom, this is just a mission where civilians got sadly involved, that’s all.”
Daisy pulls a funny face for the baby’s sake, and he waves his little arms in response, laughing. May’s heart clenches on her chest.
“Let’s see how long you can keep that lie up, Agent May.”

[AO3] {Rated G, ~1.6K, AU, H/C}
Summary: Fitz decided to go back home after Jemma left, and he is slowly making peace with the idea of a life without S.H.I.E.L.D. That doesn't mean that the family he made within will not want to visit, especially for his birthday.
Notes: Written for @emofitz for Fitz’s Birthday Exchange at @leofitznetwork
Sneak-Peak:
Until three days later, when he is coming home late from dinner with his mum, and May is sitting on his doorstep in all her black leather glory with a cake box that looks like it has seen much better days on her hand.
“May? Is everyone okay?” He wants to drag her inside as quickly as possible- if there is any kind of emergency, he would like to deal with it in private-, but his hands are shaking too much, and all he can do is look nervously to one side and then to the other.
“Calm down.” Her voice is cool as always, but her hands are gentle when they take the keychain from him. She opens the door, leads him inside with a soft shove, and only speaks again when the door is closed. “Everything is fine.” She makes a pause, and Fitz thinks about how to pinch himself in the most discreet possible way, just to be sure that he is not dreaming. “Happy birthday, Fitz.”
