Hey any systems out there with created/intentional memory barriers or that didn't originally switch fully but gained that ability: h o w
This is a genuine question, like please our sys is tired of influence from each other all the time. We want to be more separate.
Especially any endogenic/willogenic etc plurals we want to hear how that works for you please and thanks /g
Not much of a ramble but has anyone here (be it mod or anyone who sees the post) had the experience of going from monocon to polycon, and did memory barriers change?
We want to become polycon, but there’s a lot of us and we’re worried we can’t reliably mask if we gain memory barriers becoming polycon, we don’t currently have a lot but there are some occasionally, kind of randomly. To anyone who’s polycon, what’s it like with low/no memory barriers?
Yea we did! We used to be monoconscious, or rather cephaconscious [monocon front, polycon innerworld] but are now polyconscious with minimal bleeding.
I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to pay our electric bill this month. We forgot to ask for our paycheck, and that was supposed to be a big one. Do you know how many paychecks we forgot? Three, apparently. Hundreds of dollars each. My electric bill isn’t even fifty. But our direct deposit doesn’t work and we never remember to pester the people with keys to that drawer. None of us told anyone else we forgot. We need to add that shit to our calendar.
Hi, we were really curious if this is just an us thing or if it's more common than we thought, but, we have osdd 1b and smoke weed. Sometimes that creates fragmented splits of introjects or hightened system activity, and can feel like barriers between headmates gets thinner but memory barriers between them get thicker. Like different levels of muckiness in the water, I guess?
(I had no idea where else I could ask a question like this, so thought I'd try here! I hope you dont mind op)
hey, every system is different, and drugs can affect different systems and even different headmates in the same system in different ways. we’re not entirely sure what you mean, but we think we can relate a little bit?
we have never split a new part from smoking, but we did often experience this weird thing where communicating with other alters gets easier, but accessing memories (our own or each other’s) gets more difficult. this was really useful for getting to know more vulnerable/traumatized parts without having to encounter any of the traumatic memories they hold on to. it varied between system members in its intensity, though, and some parts found communication just as difficult/memories just as accessible high when sober.
we’ll open this up to any system who has similar experiences or wants to share how weed has affected their system. we don’t mind answering drug-related asks. we’re actually two months sober at this time, but it doesn’t bother us to talk about these sorts of things.

Smth that really sucks is that as a system, we have learned so much and picked up a lot of wisdom over the course of our lives. But all this knowledge is scattered and hidden behind dissasociative barriers and memory barriers. One headmate will be going through a crisis. And another headmate will have knowledge how to resolve that crisis but they'll be dormant or unable to communicate with the headmate who's having the crisis! It's so frustrating!
We do write things down and we do keep a diary and shit. But it's difficult to get into a habit of writing and reading what we've written. Especially since stuff like keeping a diary comes naturally to some alters but not to others.
It's all just so frustrating!

💢 - God. Switch headaches are literally awful. I was just trying to have a normal ass conversation, jesus fuck...
🌙 - this is fucking fake. this is completely fucking fake.
memory-barriers.txt in the linux tree is pretty indepth too, but I'm sorta glad I read the C++ stuff first
